If you're drying freebase, it's probably because it's soaked in diethyl ether, which autoignites at 160 Celsius and the vapors of it can ignite when exposed to a spark at any normal temperature. Cokeheads are notoriously impatient and often don't dry it out entirely, or dry it out at temperatures that vastly increase the chance of an explosion or catching themselves on fire (what happened to Richard Pryor).

I think a shot at freebasing is the only explanation for finding it on a pan but what I was skeptical of is an integral residue on the pan surviving not only drying it but also cooking something after (searing temp on the pan is well over 200oC) to the point of contaminating the 9yo. 3.) Kick out April. Delete her information from my [Nick's] contacts. Initiate a restraining order against her for the whole family if she attempts to return.
4.) Liquidate assets to pay Monty. Post a video and messages on all social media apologizing for the incident, retracting the statements, and offering to help Monty in future proceedings against others who continue to spread the defamatory statements.
5.) Have a sit down with the kids to explain why things are happening, why dad has screwed up, and how they should avoid this in the future for themselves and their partners.
6.) Turn myself [Nick] in. Plea guilty but insist on strict measures in the agreements such as long-term rehab, continual drug testing, some amount of jail time, things such as that to ensure that real Nick gets a message.

Yeah that's a pretty good list and most of what I was thinking when I ran that little thought experiment myself. He'd have to accept total and full responsibility for his part in everything he's done.
The kids would be the hardest part. His relationship with them is never going to be the same but at least he could try to help steer them clear of his mistakes by being honest about where he went wrong.
Taking legal responsibility is a big part of it and really his responsibility as the supposed head of the household to shield his family as much as he can from the consequences they're inevitably gonna face as a result of his actions. Insisting that some long term supervision and assistance I'm the future be part of a guilty plea would also be essential because quite honestly, he's not gonna be able to clean up and stay clean on his own.
None of this would repair the damage but its done now and nothing will, but if he was any kind of a man worth the name, this is exactly the sort of steps he'd have to take to get started on that long road to putting it right.

Very well constructed but there is something very important left out. Fuck man i don't know how i would be able to look my 8yo daughter in the eyes and tell her about why i fed her this much cocaine and possibly did illicit things to her. This is beyond fucked up. I'd legit kill myself and burn in hell for eternity, a line was crossed that should never be crossed here. This one detail keeps filling me with dread. The problem is that Nick never shuts his fucking mouth about his legal case, and he often says things that fuck up his case (such as calling April "his girlfriend" or insulting the prosecution). So when he can't explain why his 8 year old daughter tested positive for cocaine or apologize for his actions because it "interferes with his legal defense," it's hard to take him seriously. I'm not exactly sure on this, but if he's planning to take a plea deal, why would apologizing hurt his case? Unless he really did abuse his daughter?
