There have been some new social network models - like Imzy and Ello.
They fell even more quickly to the horde because trannies love novelty. Ello was even the de facto bay area trans social network for a while.

Might make an account to raise awareness for kiwis and just see how many times it gets blocked. Surely no one would oppose cute little birds and healthy eating right? Nvm I can't even fucking open the site without it shitting itself.

It has been funny watching a load of artists pretend to run away from Twitter only to keep posting but now with a 10% opacity watermark that they somehow think will stop the AI training.

I'm not endorsing this but given the lack of signup confirmation I wonder what'd happen if someone mass-registered a couple thousand rightwing-sounding accounts, gave them profile pictures like the stars & bars or sneed, and then did absolutely nothing with them. Would the paranoia get so bad that they'd clog up a ton of the wrongthink lists, having posted absolutely nothing?

the vast majority of artists are complete computer illiterates and treat the machine as though an entity of its own to be reckoned with unless tamed by the local IT guy, usually their father, if they have one. :optimistic:
that they have been completely falling for that snake oil is to the surprise and shock of no one. that they got into bluesky in the first place is because there is now a low barrier to entry. there is a higher one for the fediverse because their feeble mind must comprehend the concept of being in a different server. this is why most fediverse users are tech troons, smart enough to comprehend how to work it, not smart enough to either stop being a troon or off themselves.

They’re not banning accounts that don’t post anything. The word sneed or maga or maga2024 ought to do it.

Don’t use ywnbaw or other anti trans things that gets a quick ban.

With a nuclear block they’ll never care about your accounts again. But yes a few thousand socks on a blocklist will make it a nightmare for the list owner to go through to remove someone who was put there on accident. And it might also be daunting to members who want to review the list before subscribing to it. But not if it’s 2000 people.

It’s even worse if your profiles get changed to a pleasant pic and generic non maga or non offensive bio once it’s on the list….

Something where they can’t immediately see what’s “wrong with it” in the member list and the actually have to click on 500 or 2000 profiles. My fingers still hurt from going through one with 525 or so earlier today. I am not doing that again.

There’s probably a performance problem once they’re around 5000-10000 which could happen easily if these growth numbers are real and enough magas or trolls tried joining without you even bothering with this. It amounts to needing to evaluate every single post and person against 1-20 lists which means every get has a 2-20x multiplier to see whether it’s wrong think that you’re too delicate for.

(Im not seeing the posts or likes per second changing much despite “a million new people every day.” and the needle/word cloud is still basic bitch tier, i still think this place is botted and it’s 100% hype thinking they’d make another multi billion dollar company out of this hubris and police everyone’s speech and unpersoning even harder than anyone anywhere ever has bedore)

The 2000s era "migrate to the newest hippest social media" days are over, reddit replacing digg was the last notable one and 99% of that can be attributed to subreddits being quite innovative and replacing hobbyist forums because they're both a. free and b. easy to use so even if you were a fan of digg, reddit having a better culture and showing up on search results if you ever looked up niche tv shows or other topics of discussion meant digg died a fast death. like if you wanted to talk about your favorite radio show or international book series or ask a question about any topic, reddit would show up first

blue sky and almost all other alt-sites don't have something beyond being "alt" to make them a better alternative to the usual website people go on.

even then it has to have lots of activity and because they create the site way later they need a lot more push to make it as similar to the "old site" like i fucking loved Voat whenever i used it, but because of how small the userbase was i maybe only needed to visit it once a day at most to keep up, and while people did effortpost a lot, if the activity isn't there it wont matter

think about it like sports, even if you only hang out in eagles bars and visit eagles forums and listen to eagles sportsradio because now you're all in the same club with likeminded individuals you can do something like say post the picture of some annoying Patriots fan and get a lot of activity or make a post about some movie shot in philly or share something about your personal life and get support from fellow eagles.

just because its an echochamber in one respect doesn't mean nothing exciting happens, because you get to make your own fun, just without any of the "evil" people listening in. like a manchild version of a club house with "no girls allowed" sign on the front. plus an echochamber can still have arguments, like talking about if you support or hate whatever bullshit a coach has decided for your football team. Kiwifarms is an echochamber by sheer nature of having users that like reading kiwifarms on it, sure there is plenty of diversity of thought but at the end of the day you have to accept the basic tennant of "kiwifarms should exist"

Fyi I was invited to Bluesky during the beta, registered the name joshuamoon, posted on KF it was my account, literally did not use it at all to make or engage any content or user, was immediately banned, and their support has not answered my ban appeal at all either at the time it happened or recently.

I've never even heard of a mainstream platform that just bans the mere concept of a person joining. Even my twitch is still active. Bluesky is literally the worst and most censorious platform to ever exist.

I understand that its just that bluesky seems way too niche and aggressively so. i mean when gab first launched i hated it and iirc it wasnt even trying to be as sealed off but it was just twitter bathed in right wing politics everywhere. you could ban politics here, on old tumblr, on youtube, on twitter, and theres still tons of reasons if not more reasons if you just want dopamine to use those places but bluesky and gab at least then if you took that away well you can just go on these better places and exist apolitically anyway.

it just doesnt seem like anything but a retirement home to mumble and die in. i mean people here generally agree on alot of stuff but theres still plenty of scope for disagreement and the topic isnt as narrow as fuck trump fuck elon theyre hitler and not nearly as draining. it feels like giving yourself old persons angry dementia for no real reason other than youd rather that then accept the world isnt perfectly tailored to how you think it should be or accept that its even heavily flawed.

edit. also oddly i havent seen anyone point out that even though its getting a sort of surge in users it all seems confined to celebrity stalkers. its weird because the accounts pushed when you first open it are a mix of high engagement celebrity accounts and then someone with actual single digit likes.
