Slittwt is a Twitter community that advocates for SH, also known as self-harm. A lot of the self-harm communities justify its existence by claiming that "it's their way of coping" and that if you take it away the people will still suffer. However, as a person who strongly believes that people should be able to do what they please. Most of the time the posters are children, and I do not think children should cut themselves.

Side note this community was banned by jannies before the flow of children self harming (and given tutorials which is criminal)

Sometimes these posts break out of their Twitter communities, I saw one from one of the _twts of the poster's fingers rotting (pretty sure it was real because it was an ED/drug account). I happened to click it and then Twitter immediately assumed I want to see all the shedtwt content ever for some reason and I haven't used that account since because no matter what I do they keep coming up. The breaking point was a girl in the slittwt community who used a chainsaw on her leg. The results were honestly less gruesome than "regular" cutting but the concept was so insane that I just stopped looking at Twitter.
Most of these people are just sadcows.

In the hidden replies to the first screenshot was a thread of japanese self-harm videos which included someone using a surgical spreader to pry open a deep wound. Not for the faint of heart. EDtwt is comparatively tame, although I've come across a few bulimics posting their vomit and "grosspo" that can get extreme (disgusting stuff to make you lose your appetite) There's a lot of material there for those who want some new fatties to follow, just look for fatspo threads. Some have commentary, but it's always hilariously tame. Also, they're almost all pooners.

I have to wonder, if it is better to let these communities exist and monitor them (embedded police for the pedos) or to try and ban them.

Clearly groups like pedos will reform and find their own new hiding hole. I prefer police monitoring for them.

Other groups like cutters... I just don't see angsty teens being resilient enough to keep on chasing down new forums. The key I think is that you don't want teens to stumble upon these forums and become indoctrinated. So no advertisement, promotion in the algorithm.
