Yep, they had a bit of an unhinged moment and referenced the “Shrek is Love, Shrek is Life” meme despite it being a NSFW meme. I can’t really blame their social media manager for this one, the Pokémon fandom’s been comparing Ogerpon to Shrek since the former’s full reveal and they even rewrote the original Shrek is Love copypasta to fit The Teal Mask.

I doubt if the person who posted that even knew where that quote is from. I wonder if they'll retract that post, or will someone be punished for it, or will they ignore anyone trying to bring up the connection.

Personally, I feel it's like Christmas. It used to have a different meaning and then it became some phenomenon and now everyone is using it in a new way.

What if Lapras was a Water/Dragon type instead?

And why have they made Lapras Water/Ice anyway?

just makes me wish that there was a modern version of the Game Boy game. It was great—almost every card released at the time, easy to get into, good single-player campaign, and some really catchy music.
I think I'll spin up some good ol' emulator codes. My phone IS a modern gameboy.
making it part steel kinda makes sense, since appearance-wise it looks like it's made out of metal.
That stuff has unfortunately gotten even more arbitrary. Pikachu is a living mouse-like thing, so you'd think it would be Electric AND Normal type. But no, it is just Electric.

I'm fine with normal-type not getting mixed in with anything else. Normal as a type is more of a hindrance than a blessing, in fact there's only a few types that would benefit from being mixed with normal
  • Ghost - Immune to normal, fighting, and ghost types, only weak to dark
  • Psychic - looses it's ghost weakness in exchange for neutral damage against fighting types
Everything else would just make it worse. While they would always get an immunity to ghost (which isn't even a common attack type to begin with), they would either gain a fighting weakness or have a quad weakness to it, and considering fighting type is one of the most common attack types that can wreck 5 types in total, giving fighting types more things to eat would just make it a little too O.P.

Even Normal/Flying, the most common bird type, is crap since them not being pure flying means it can't use it's fighting resistance properly.

It looks like that Shiny Rayquaza Tera Raid event leak was real, thankfully it’s only a 5-Star raid rather than it being a 7-Star raid like the Mewtwo raid was. Like past event raids it can only be caught once per save file, outside of that and it being Dragon Tera Type no other pieces of info are available.
IMG_2256.jpeg
In preparation for the this raid, other events raids will be run before and during the Rayquaza raid event.

Oh, and we’re getting new Mass Outbreak events but they’re locked to specific regions. Tinkatink has a higher chance of being found with the Ferocious Mark (outbreaks occurring in Paldea), Johtonian Wooper has a higher chance of being found with the Absent-Minded Mark (outbreaks occurring in Kitakami), and Girafarig has a chance of being found with the Intellectual Mark (outbreaks occurring in Terarium). A special Mass Outbreak event will occur between December 19th-January 5th featuring Cetoddle (Paldea), Carbink (Kitakami), and Fraxure (Terarium) with a higher Shiny rate. There are also ”special” mass outbreaks featuring Chansey occurring between November 28th and January 5th but there’s nothing special about ‘em.

I miss the tiled maps that were used up until generation 7-8, having the Pokémon roaming around in the overworld instead of random encounters is lame. I liked stuff like the overhead view and Pokéradar which is now not really possible anymore.
Agreed. Pokemon are supposed to be hiding in the tall grass not just strutting around like they don't give a fuck. ORAS's radar thing was actually a great way to implement overworld encounters, have them poking their tails or ears out of the grass so you have some idea of what you're encountering and can target specific mons, but the encounter is still a bit of a "surprise".

It's just a different (better imo) experience. You can call it a different gameplay experience, but having the encounter music suddenly play, the short suspense before the species is shown is just all gone now.

I think caves and surfing across large bodies of water were annoying because all tiles could have an encounter and that made it feel uncontrollable and unpredictably. Tall grass was visible and in patches so you didn't have those two problems. If I made a Pokémon game I'd make the caves have barely visible dark patches be the tall grass, and maybe foggy over water or rough water for surfing.

They're supposed to be wild animals but now they just feel like 3D models playing an animation until their collision box collides with yours.

The anemic animations are definitely a huge part of the problem. I could rag on GF for not doing better work on those but it's kind of absurd to ask for detailed animations for hundreds of creatures. Which is why visual obfuscation is such a big help- both to generic-ize the model itself so it can be used across multiple species and to hide animations or lack thereof from the player.
Patches in caves/water where wild mons can spawn, or spawn more frequently, or where they can only spawn outside of them in bubbling/dust spots like from Gen 5, is also a good idea. It's just a matter of designing a good experience, man.

Hell you don't even need to stick to tiled maps for this, the game I'm working on has 3d modeled maps and I just have collision polygons defining encounter areas.

On my Glazed Gold edition... I found some bugs... First it was levelibg that tyranossaur pokemon up to lvl 39 for him to evolve into... The same pokémon. Bugged shit.

Then I found this dragon who sucked ass and it evolves at lvl 50

Guess what? It evolved... Into a fucking bulbassaur

My team fucking sucks, but the overall encounters are so bad, it really looks like an official pokémon game where the encounters are so scruffed.

I will challenge the E4 tomorrow, so far Glazed feels really weird: the character sprites are basically recolors and the original characters are so fucking lame and badly made, this wouldn't be a problem if the whole game was like this, but it isn't. The map is so fucking well made and excelent. The victory road doesn't make me kill myself and it was challenging. The scale leveling is excelent with the enemies.

The story so far is really bad, we got this item that allows us to speak with pokemon and our main rival is a pikachu with scarf that can talk and is beyond lame. The overall story is about a family of villains where the guy's plan is to capture the dialga/palkia/giratina to summon mew and use it to create the ultimate TM and profit from it. Nothing special with the other characters too, the gym leaders have zero personality and no participation on the story. There is a human rival I guess.

It is such a weird game. If someone took the routing and overall map and made a whole different story with better characters, it would become a totally new and improved game.

Also one major problems are the HM as usual. They increase the status on those so they are useful and you can remove without move deleter, but jesus, 8 hms + rock slide was too much.

I found some pokemon that looks like fakemon that looks really fucking good tho.

One major problem is money, you barely have money or itens to be found on the map and I mean it. They also removed all shitty tms and every good tm is on the game and you can reuse it but there are some pokemon that can't learn almost no good tm, so all moveset are kinda weird.

Anyone else played the normal glazed version or this golden edition?

Why? Just hire a bunch of animators and crank them out between generation 10 and 11, that'd be three years. A pokédex of 400 Pokémon (not including the ones with existing animations) times maybe 8 animations each at least, is 3,200 animations. GTA V supposedly has 150k animations for just the NPCs. GF is making enough money to justify it.

You know what I thought? Instead of using sprites or models, use live 2d to animate the artwork itself like a ken sugimori artwork that could work as a sprite

EDIT:

Before sleeping yesterday I was thinking how to integrate the beta designs and cut pokémon from gen 3 in my dream emerald sequel game. As for cut designs they would appear after the hoenn region being flooded and new species would surge after some genetics/magic being involved with Mew/Evolott. Depending of the place, it would tie with the new pokémon in that place. As for all the beta designs. You know the Lost World novel by Doyle? That is the gist of it: put another world bellow the meteor falls mountains where pokemon share the same origin but evolved in different ways, so a cool post game would be entering this underground world to see what happens there. So in the end the beta designs would become a regional variant inside their own region. I also would add some details about the newly information regarding the lost civilization underwater by Kyogre that originates Latios and Latias. And the remaining members of this civilization would be the Alto Mare citizens.

Especially this generation, Nintendo is fucking swimming in unbacked debased fiat shekels money, there is no excuse to be cheap, other than the usual greed.

In paldea remakes (gen 27) that launches in the glorious times of white ethnostate, when schwab and fauci are long time dead and the orange man lives on as an ai powered holograph in an indestructible cyborg body powered by Tesla, there will be an evil organisation that tries to to troon out people like they did in 2022. They also forcefully breed Pokémon that look like inbetweeners. Like horribly torturing rapidash to become trans colored and cutting tinkatons dicks off to make them pass as an all female species.
BW, which came out during the height of the Obama presidency, features an evil organization that tries to take away the equivalents of everyone's guns so they can establish a dictatorship.

Glazed update: I actually forgot that my hammer fairy was in the box and I used her quite early so I decided to pick her instead of the bugged venossaur. She was lvl 40 so I had to grind her so she could deal some damage since she wasa quite weak. This was the team before the E4
Screenshot_20241119-174116-619.png

Not very well balanced right? I expected some team with type advantage to sweep me. But I was wrong, the E4 team wasn't based on types but pokemon colors, so there was a gray, orange, black and purple teams.

I had some trouble with the 3 guy who took 2 members out. Until the champion... This nigga had a lvl 57 Darkrai who would sweep my whole team by outspeeding it. My only hope was literally my weakest member and glass canon of the team: grapploct. After some resets, I managed to heal him enough to be able to hit 2x

His last pokemon was umbreon. I had only grapploct alive and he had his umbreon. I managed to hit with close combat buffed with black belt and managed to win this fight.

I actually thought I was overlevel and I would if I didn't waste time leveling the tyrunt and bugged dragon/venossaur

Now I will go to Johto to see what is going on

This is the team after Victory.
