Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Cringed at looking through the comments and so many people exclusively call Chikorita a girl. I actually checked and there's only a bit over a ten percent of it even being a girl.

It might be because of Ash's Chikorita.

I had Serperior for my unova starter, and Venusaur is my husband's favorite.

I picked Sprigatito because I love cats. I was disappointed that it became furbait just like Litten did. Can we please have a cat starter that isn't made to appeal to degenerates?

Treeko - Yes absorb sucks, but you should be using bullet seed. Always gamble. Grovyle is fantastic and gets extra browny points for PMD, again Sceptile is... mid design wise.

Grovyle is cool looking. I think Sceptile is a bit derp on the face. I do like that it's modeled after a yew tree. They should have made it look cooler. They kind of fixed it with the mega. At least the tail looks better.

My favorite of the generation 5 starters is retroactively Samurott and that is largely thanks to its PLA regional form bringing all of its concepts together for me.
The original one always felt a little awkward to me and it felt odd that it never had a secondary typing, but now that it's part dark and has ceaseless edge it's become an absolute menace.

Emboar might be coming into his own as well given the information about his Mega giving him a spear and turning him into a Chinese general.

I give a game freak a lot of flack, but I do think they are good at going back and touching up specific Pokemon and making them come to life.

Late, but I literally cannot remember a time when I didn't like Pokemon, or not know of its existence.

As for my favorite Pokemon overall, that's Espurr. I grew up on farm with a lot of cats, and the fact that Espurr is essentially a tiny suicide-bomber trapped in the body of a kitten reminds me of a group of cats we had on it that my dad nicknamed "The Taliban" because they were so aggressive, and would often just randomly explode into violence, and start attacking anything near them. Sometimes even inanimate objects like the lawnmower.

Also, because it looks like this.

I've got some good news on the Shiny Treasures of Ruin raids, TPC officially announced that over 3 million players beat the Shiny Wo-Chien raid and we'll be getting an online event for it on the 8th.

If this is the kind of response that the shittiest member of the quartet gets then I have no worries about the other three getting over a million wins.
And some of us like pokemon not for their usefulness or stats, but because they look cool. Like, I fucking love Xatu and Sigilyph.

I love the native aesthetic for Xatu, and I adore the nazca line inspiration on Sigilyph (and its funny lil unown head)!
But they don't have a competitive niche, afaik, and they're kinda mid in the stats dept.
Funnily enough both of those Pokémon have had decent runs in the TCG: Sigilyph was a popular anti-EX tech back in the late BLW-era and Xatu currently has a print that, at least functionally, has the same Ability as Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX does and was used as an Energy accelerator in Dragapult ex decks until Crispin was printed.

I tried using this thing in the Battle Tree in Gen 7. Not that good, unfortunately, but it does have potential. Never really used it in XY.
Problem with psychic types is that Alakazam exists. Why would you need anything else? It helps that it is available in almost every single pokedex too.

I've been replaying and finishing Pokemon TCG 2 for GBC, and man, sometimes I forget how kino this game is. This replaythrough made me realize that this is definetly my favorite spinoff of the entire series.

ghost masters.webp

My favorite thing about it is how much content you can experience even after postgame, especially the ghost masters (pic related).

I went with the "Do the Wave" Wigglytuff deck for most of my play time, but I also had to switch my deck a few times to counter some opponents, which is something that I feel a lot of "TCG videogames" don't do. Kinda wish we had another Pokemon TCG RPG... but then again, having another entry with the current rules and cards would be very :optimistic: (and being real, TPC would probably release it in an unplayable state anyways like SV)

Soundtrack is still very high quality like TCG 1, so that's also nice.

Remember a time when new pocketmons games were good?

Kiwi Farms remembers.

current rules and cards
Current cards are so overpowered compared to how it was in the '90s. It's like 1 energy for an attack of 50, and HP commonly far over 120 (120 was the limit and extreme HP).

I've never really played the Pokemon TCG, but I've found it funny how blatant it is with the powercreep. Every TCG suffers from powercreep to some extent, but it's usually more subtle with stuff having better effects for less cost or comboing off each other better, or what have you. With Pokemon it's literally just bigger numbers. Old cards literally can't compete because their numbers are like 1/4 of what modern cards have. It's like the opposite of Yu-Gi-Oh! where Konami has managed to keep numbers about the same since the mid-2000s, but card effects have turned into novels that prevent your opponent from playing the game at all.

Thanks for the info. I loved the 1st one when I was a kid, never knew they made a sequel. Just downloaded an English translated rom, should keep me occupied for a decent while when I'm out and about and need to kill a little time on the phone. Especially tomorrow, I have a Dr. appointment and then I need to swing by the DMV afterwards. This should help with the agonizing boredom of waiting around.

Staryu in Base Set:
40 HP, 🔵 Slap 20

Staryu in "Paldean Fates":
60 HP, 🔵⚪ Swift 30 (always works, no Weakness and Resistance effect).
To be fair, for a long time on the English side of the TCG the dominant deck was based on Pokemon like hitmonchan that were basic but able to be efficient damage dealers. It wasn’t until slowing was released with that mistranslation that the deck finally got knocked out.

I personally wouldn’t mind the scaling so much if they’d not make it to where you need 2 prize Pokemon to play consistently. I liked the ex era, but those Pokemon weren’t as powerful as they are now and were considered a rarity that you had to justify being worth 2 prizes. The stars, for all their monetary value, were never good but I’d be ok if we never got a mechanic like that, shining or radiants again.

I caught a Morelull in Sword to work on completing my Pokédex.
Tried to name it "Lesslull." Can't enter that nickname for some reason. Tried to name it "Equalull." Can't enter that name, either.
Why?
What filter could that possibly be tripping?

Since we're talking about generation 5, why do people think of the elemental monkeys?
Really good idea to offer early-game options for the types that you didn't pick as your starter.
It's a shame that they made the designs so lame and ugly.

I still like the idea, and I don't hate the designs as much as I used to, so I find myself kinda rooting for them now.
I'd really like to see them each get a 3rd-stage evolution to try to "redeem" them. It doesn't have to make them super strong and viable in competitive battles or anything like that. Just make them not look so dumb.

What is the thing that got you in the Pokemon
Cultural osmosis as a little kid. All just stuff from a distance, through glimpses in the news or stories from other kids.
I was too young to have the wherewithal to try to find or get any of it for myself. I couldn't find out how to watch the show, my parents didn't want me to have video games, the cards were always sold out, and how people even got a GameBoy seemed like magic back then. It felt to me like Pokémon was just something for other people.
Then, a boy at church randomly gave me a GameBoy Pocket and his old copy of Yellow when he was moving on to Gen 2. I stuck with that for a while, through Gen 3, fell behind, and started to feel as if Pokémon was just something for other people again.
Then, my uncle (just as randomly) gave me a DS Lite and Diamond, and I was finally, fully hooked.
I wrote way too much when I first tried to answer this.

and your favorite Pokemon overall?
Empoleon. I love penguins, and my sort-of reintroduction to the series in Gen 4 with Piplup left a huge impression on me.

BossManGecko says "always gamba." Beat those Rattata rats, and fuck the riggers at the Celadon Game Corner.

From my searching, it seems to be "lul" because apparently it's Dutch for dick.
(Funny that they go out of their way to add Dutch, Portuguese, and Russian words to the name filter given the games aren't even translated into those languages.)

Eyyy nice, I will warn you though and say that your early game will be a bit rough compared to the previous game, but once you get the ball rolling, the difficutly will become smooth-sail and fun to traverse. It will be more challenging than the first game though, since you won't exactly be able to solo the entire thing with Electabuzz + Hitmochan (still pretty strong strategy eitherway).

Besides Energy Removals and being able to play Professor Oak every turn, There's a hilarious old card that somehow got more powerful as the game went on

Literally any attack over 20 damage would straight up get nullified against this fella (would fail if it was Paralyzed, Asleep or Confused though), it's like a more extreme version on how Mimikyu was used in recent years (prevents damage from any EX or V pokemon).
