I toured the U.S. for about a month, and was really surprised how cheap soda was. You could buy a large tray of Gatorade for the price of two bottles, back home. So went to Walmart and bought a tray at a time.

I gained weight for the first time in my adult life. And it wasn't because of overeating ... I didn't eat much volume back then, but constantly sipped on those Gatorades.
They were also much sweeter than the electrolyte drinks back home, which should have rung alarm bells.
I was mostly oblivious to health/weight concerns about excess sugar consumption.
In the rare instances I drink them I definitely treat Gatorade like I would a soda, just as a treat rather than any kind of performance/health substance. It's a bit less sugar than sodas (about half of Coke, ounce for ounce) but still a lot

I actively avoid salt because I'm very sensitive to the taste of it (and some fast food fries tend to give me sores on my tongue and irritate my lips from the excessive salt) and do a lot of cardio so I do sometimes get electrolyte depleted, especially in the summer. I drink knock-off pedialyte when I actually need the electrolytes. It's about half the sugar of Gatorade and a higher ratio of multiple electrolytes rather than just straight salt. That's probably closer to what you're used to

I used to be able to get little pouches of something that was pedialyte-ish with a bit of caffeine and a few other things , I'd mix up a 16oz serving in my 64oz water bottles, a couple of those were great for 30-40 mile bike rides. One bottle plus half a protein bar every twenty miles or so felt like the perfect ratio of garbage to suck down to not get worn out prematurely

It turns out Captain Kirk is not as based as we may have assumed.
He's an ancient, super-wealthy Canadian, who does not have U.S. citizenship, living in LA, surrounded by Hollywood actors.
I'm not surprised he thinks the economy is doing well, and that Kamala was a good candidate.

I know people who live deep in liberal strongholds, as well as people who are retired, live in more rural areas, and have fat pensions, and these people all believe the economy is wonderful and that things have never been better. There are a lot of people who are able to live completely out of touch with what is happening at large.

Note, I disagree somewhat with @draggs about the glacial page - it's like arm wrestling, the big effort and slow change is at the start. Once one side really starts to go it picks up pace. We can't really have a great idea of who is "winning" without casualty numbers which both sides naturally concede. But despite some pushback in Toretz and Russia deciding to hold off on Pokrovsk just yet, it's fairly obvious Russia is winning.
It's two years and nine months in. When does the "start" end? When is Russia really going to start going? What proof is there that Russia is holding off on Pokrovsk? It's fairly obvious that Ukraine is not winning. But neither is Russia. Avdiivka fell nine months ago. Straight-line from center of Avdiivka to center of Pokrovsk is about 30 miles. Russia has advanced about 22 of those miles in those nine months. I've heard that the breakthrough is imminent, Ukraine's army is gonna collapse this time and soon, pls bro believe me bro pls bro pls, way too many times. Ukraine isn't capable of advancing at all, not more than maybe several hundred meters in a local counterattack that it can't hold anyway. Russia isn't capable of advancing faster than a baby can crawl. Neither one can end the war. Only Trump can, because only the United States can change the fundamentals enough to give one side or the other a decisive advantage. Either by abandoning supplying Ukraine, or going even harder at supplying it. He has that leverage on both and he'll use it

Can you share why you think Trump is turning this into a dumpster fire? He hasn't been inaugurated yet, and so far he seems to be making good choices with his cabinet picks.

Outside of Rubio, Waltz, Wiles and Burgum his cabinet choices are dumpster fires. It's a hodgepodge mixture of establishment pols and complete loonies that nobody outside of the far-right considers a good pick (which, in fairness, is seen as a good thing on here).

The only thing these picks have in common is showing complete and utter devotion to Trump.

Essentially: they are DEI picks for Trumpists.

Buy land in the most republican county in the country this is the key to happy ness
+1

my neighbor is a rich older man who owns land in florida, arizona, new mexico and michigan. He chose to make his perminate home in a rural Kentucky mountain town where the average wage is 10k US a year and he is not shy to say that it was the best decision he made.

sure we have a over abundance of meth heads and over doses but violent crime is near non-exisitant. home invasions are very rare because everyone is armed to the teeth.

We have abundant game animals to hunt (Deer, Elk, Turkey, Grouse, Quail, Squirell and rabbit to name a few) and most families still raise subsistence gardens for their own use.

Tomorrow is two weeks since the election, and the entire internet is now that scene from End of Evangelion, but instead of a giant naked Rei absorbing all of humanity, it's a shrieking Helen Lovejoy.

"OH MY GAAAAWD HOW DO I TELL MY KIIIIIIIDS! WAAAAAAAHHH!"
(Komm Susser Todd intensifies)
For reference, a deanimed version for the unfun people. Pretty catchy for a song about killing yourself, I recommend you alternate between this and suicide is painless for all the malding Leftists in your life. And yes, the Japanese will fill stadiums for certain anime music, but they really should have gone for orange lights.

I bet our Gatorade zero is similar to what you guys get. Its what i stock. once i started reading the nutritional info on the drinks i was drinking i very surprised about just how bad it was. I never drank pop at all but even the juice i was drinking to stay "heathly" was abhorrently bad.

How are Tulsi Gabbard and Robert Kennedy Jr part of the establishment? Both of them are former democrats, so I don't think they qualify as "loonies" that "only the far-right" would consider good. Their connection to Trump is also less "utter devotion" and more a mutually beneficial partnership, as both of them hated Trump in the past and only allied because they realized they are fighting the same enemy.

Is this the hot new strategy to reclaim a term just like they failed with "snowflake" and "triggered"?
It seems so and it is also being used incorrectly. The most cynical interpretation is that Trump is surrounding himself with Yes Men, so even in that case they were not selected for anything resembling "diversity". They are also not being picked for equal outcome purposes (equity), as the picks are still based on some kind of merit. I guess you could make the argument that the democrat party converts could qualify as "Inclusion", but that is such a stretch that it is making me question if @Northern Blockhead even understands what a DEI hire is.

Call me crazy, but I have the sneaking suspicion he only posts in here to rile up those he considers his "enemies" and probably doesn't realize that there is a healthy mix of political ideologies in here.

Or maybe that's just another far-right conspiracy.
