Obviously the internet and social media have been the biggest influence on Pat and his individual situation.

I am sure that a lot more of them would have ended up like Pat had they had this combination of reach, audience and record of their lies and manipulation attempts.

It’s like how there could have been many Chris Chans before, but without the internet they never progressed to being anything other than a local village idiot.

Also in both cases, the interference of random internet users with malicious intent has caused them to become even worse than they would have been.

In the sociopathic cases though, there is a certain “glamorous” idea of sociopaths being good looking and manipulative, like the nonce from Fifty shades of gay or American Psycho, but I am saying that I bet a substantial amount of them were actually huge man-babies like Pat.
But previously their behavior and emotional abuse was only confined to their families and spouses.

The short lived black comedy series, “Kevin can fuck himself”, is not only a probable more accurate depiction of a more common sociopath, it also has some parallels to Pat.

Awarded costs are assessed against the plaintiff not the lawyers (though in theory the plaintiff could sue the lawyers for malpractice or some shit) unless there is an agreement.

No lawyer will agree to take the risks of costs, though. Because the plaintiff can fuck things up on their own.

I don't pretend to know much about law in the USA, but over here no win no fee is usually in a personal injuries case or an open and shut employment case, not something like this. And even those firms will only take a case they know they're going to win.

Most of the people bringing § 1983 suits are in no position to pay up front, so they're mostly prosecuted on contingency. Firms that handle them often operate in volume and some are just shakedown factories filing cookie cutter suits to settle for nuisance value. This is pretty common in civil rights cases, like Pat's kind of cases, ADA cases, EEOC cases, etc.

I think Pat (Lynn) may be actually paying up front, maybe a flat fee, because I think this is a very weak case.

I'm not going to say outright that it won't settle, but it looks like the defendants are taking a posture that they intend to fight it, at least at the moment.

Media romanticizes the idea of people with personality defects, not to mention that a successful narcissist or sociopath is often high IQ and high functioning and at best 1 out of 10 sociopaths/narcissists are like that. The reality is much more mundane, your average sociopath is a nigger who is enjoying decades or a life sentence in prison for rape/drugs/murder/what have you. Your average narcissist is more likely to be that one guy at work that everyone hates and who has been in the company for a decade yet hasn't moved up from his entry level position.
