But did it ever make people as MAD as the farms? I think the autistic internet-sleuth angle IS what made the farms more potent. Personally, I also enjoy the more sardonic flavour way more - but that's just a question of subjective taste, after all. Just my two cents. Talking about it, gonna need to pay some tax. During ED’s heyday, it felt like a lot more individuals sperged out demanding that their pages be taken down. However, back then that could have stemmed from a lack of understanding as to how the internet works. Nowadays, I’d say that most people have learned that you usually can’t just get anything you want struck from the web at a whim without serious resources on your side.
Another explanation could be how the focus has broadened away from spergs on DA over time, and more towards people who either are attention whores, masochists, or just don’t give a shit about the opinions of others. People in art communities have always been some of the most autistic about wanting to control what can and can’t be shown about them online.

It also hasn't helped that some governments have since passed laws and regulations in regards to personal data along with the free market giving people more tools to minimize their personal data online.

The European Union has the GDPR, some countries and jurisdictions (like South Korea, China, Russia, and Hong Kong and several U.S. states) has since made doxing illegal, and the United States has since gotten better cybersecurity standards (with a growing movement for Congress to pass new laws and regulations to give people more power to manage their data online and doesn't help that the feds have since put some troll sites and gray hat/black hat sites on a watchlist in recent years).

In a way, the autists won in the long term because no one wants to be on the receiving end in getting trolled (especially as Western governments and big corporations are likely going to side with the autists over Internet trolls). It's like how Caller ID made crank calls dead (especially with us living in the age of the smartphone) and Amazon's Ring Camera (and other similar products) made classic pranks like Ding Dong Ditch and the Flaming Bag of Shit as largely a thing of the past (or how the invention of Barbed Wire put an end to the American Wild West).

The last pieces of the Wild West of the Internet as we know it are fading away and the Internet is entering its own 'Turn of the Century' era now. I'm sure stuff like hate speech and other edgy stuff will still be around but the Internet will be much more "civilized" like how the Wild West became civilized when property lines could finally be established.

I suspect the take-down notices and and gayop attempts against the farms are way beyond whatever the encyclopedia ever weathered in it's heyday.
Everything is way more serious now because the internet has become an all encompassing bazillion dollar bidness.
And hence, the farms being a more serious and somewhat more heavily moderated community, are the exact traits which made it outlive E.D.
E.D. was just good ol' web 1.0 funnies.

Whomever doesn't miss the encyclopedia dramatica, has no heart. But who wants it back, has no brain.

A site like this shows there is plenty of people willing to write articles, do their research and even make it entertaining to read. It's not impossible to create a community like this. This is 100% the problem of people running the site and it's community.
Are old articles still swiss cheese with missing images? If that's still the case after all this time, then what's the point of keeping it around? If you can't even archive your own wiki, why bother trying to expand it?

They did have a discord server at some point, I remember count dankula was a key member of it. I had an anime pfp at the time I was in the server and was banned because one of the admins thought it was funny to ban everyone who had one. I have no clue what happened after that, my guess is that some troon mass reported it to discord or some shit.

Kiwifarms kinda replaced what ED was though in many cases. Except without random articles on people that just felt like a-logging victims. A lot of them just didn't make any sense and for the articles that featured popular figures, better and more condensed information was present or just out-right lifted from here.
ED is just a shambling husk and will eventually just die off when the last archives fail. Only a matter of time.

tl;dr some years ago he got outed as a fag, someone catfished him and posted the pictures on twitter.
If i recall he was crossdressing or someshit, this was tad bit after Assnapkins was gonna sell the website.
Aaaand he stopped making videos. Those prager YTPs and especially his TRUTHSTREAMs were great, he was covering bunch of crazy people like josh did person streams at the start, except oddguys way was have an autistic woman interject constantly while he himself was having brainfarts from overconsumption of foreskins or someshit.
Hes still active in the forums(probably) and discord/telegram(probably)
What is 100% true is that he is killing palestinian kids just like hila klein, idf style.

2019/2020 discord chat was funny because random spergs would go there to make personal army requests or "nudge nudge this person is lulzworthy am i right fellow ediots winkwink dont google my username btw im a retard who uses the same name everywhere"

I think it's because ED is mainly a humor/satire site, with any documentation of internet phenomena or lolcows being secondary, and it essentially admits so on its About and Disclaimer pages. Whereas with Kiwifarms, it's the reverse.

Even in its hayday, its brand of insult/shock comedy and nonsensical troll humor was pretty niche, save for the articles about low-hanging fruit lolcows that normies are unlikely to disagree with. However, once better alternatives arose to document both internet memes and the antics of lolcows, ED started becoming irrelevant.
