If your looking for some new game this weekend I can't recommend trying the playtest for Broken Arrow enough especially considering its free. It is an RTS military combat game similar to Wargame Red Dragon. Key differences are.
  • Instead of just customizing loadout decks you can customize the weapons on most vehicles too.
  • Infantry is more useful, so are aircraft.
  • Putting your people in buildings is more important.
  • Vehicle balance seems a bit more realistic
  • Artillery is more useful too
  • No more stupid commander vehicles, supply system makes a lot more sense.
  • US and Russian seem to balances pretty well. US has way better transport vehicle and tech in general while russia has better infantry, arty, and a shit ton more of it.
Its mostly PVP in the playtest right now, they do have a single PVE mission but it forces you to play russian and seems to just be a demo test for AI. The AI itself is pretty good but the PVE mission clearly helps it out by adding manually placed vehicles.

I'm currently enjoying loading a squad or three in a big truck, multiple trucks, or a heli and dropping them off with a little bit of supplys to make fully manned supply bases appear out of nowhere. And placing really long range liberty anti air systems in the middle of random fields. It's a really great game 100% going to buy it when it comes out fully in 2025.

Finished Rise of the Golden Idol, which is the sequel for a puzzle/mystery game.

Overall OK. A downgrade from the previous game, which did the overreaching plot better and had a lot more interesting visuals and cases. The sequel plays with the formula a bit too much, having many cases of non murders, random people and non chronological events which absolutely wreck the pacing. I want to give the game shit for too many blacks and generic capitalism bad, but it being with a roaring 70's backdrop it's not that unfitting.

Sometimes the cases could have been telegraphed better, and there are some times where I knew the solution but the game was annoying with using the correct names.

Microsoft Flight Sim 24 launched today and it's been an absolute shitshow. The game is highly dependent on processing being done on remote servers and then being streamed over the Internet to players. Predictably, too many people are trying to log on and the servers have shat themselves. People who have paid $199+ have been sitting watching a login queue screen for hours :story:.

Thankfully it's free on goypass so I paid nothing for the same experience.

Msfs has been dead since it abandoned its hobbiest and plane autists crowd to placate to retards who launch the game once, buy the most lazy slop addons on the store, then leave forever.

It's totally crippled the addon economy. Developers like Captain Sim who used to make some of the best add-ons for fsx and prepar3d now make lazy ass planes using the vanilla Boeing 747 flight model for two engine 767s his most recent one didn't even come with a cockpit (:_(

I played 2020 for a bit with just the basic A320-NEO and 747-8 models, I downloaded some irl skins, it was quite fun. There seemed to be a lot of total shit in the store though. The same happened to an extent with my beloved autism outlet Train Simulator, only one studio (Just Trains) actually bothers with realism and sovl now, the rest are total trash pajeet slop merchants.

Well the thing is most people who used to play Flight Simulators would pickup a pretty pricey and very high quality add-on of their favorite aircraft and either join one of those online digital airlines with VatSim or there are some alternative ways like a handful of tycoon like addons where you make money flying around in a group with other people. And all of these would usually work with each platform X-Plane, FSX, Prepar3d all of the major ones.

Now it seems most add-on makers don't care to port off of MSFS to other platforms which people who used to be their target audience still play because there are some realism issues with MSFS it's less of a simulator game and more just well a game. I've considered trying MSFS, I actually bought and downloaded it once but instantly refunded because my dumbass forgot you need a MS account which I refuse to make. But from all the research I've looked into it the only high quality 3rd party addons are smaller general aviation planes and a few business jets. The larger airlines say for a few are really not that well done because everyone seems to be just lazy now trying to sell to people who really don't care.

I finished Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Basically 100%'d it even, just so I'd never be tempted to play it again. It was bad, frustrating, exhausting and a sad end to the franchise. I'm glad I didn't pay for it and cannot recommend anyone else does either. The only good things I can say about it are that it looks good graphically (but the aesthetic choices are trash), it runs really well, and there are a couple music tracks that are catchy hidden in the otherwise boring soundtrack. I look forward to playing something better next to cleanse my palate.

I play Bethesda games raw. I can tolerate a decent amount of SJW. I miss the party-based non-crpg games of.. Well, Bioware. Literally only Bioware. I've been tempted to get it but jeeeesas does it look shit. Dialogue options being 3 kinds of "Hey fuck you" that all play the same audio.

I am once again stunned for choices. I got two $1 Transformer kiddie games that are pretty cozy but I play one mission at a time, making them way too long. I wanna play Farm Sim 25, but to actually invest and learn it.. Hm. I'd need to play it for looong to justify that, while other more demanding games are gnawing in the back of my mind. Like.. the comfy of Borderlands. Hmm..

Also Stalker 2 looks mediocre as shit. And nobody is going to mention the NFTs, I guarantee it.

I couldn't bring myself to do that even if I tried. I liked the original a lot, but at some point I decided to get out while I could. What they've done to that series feels like it's been the video game equivalent of seeing a friend losing himself to addiction and Lord knows there are a lot of cases like that these days. Hope you can find a good game to wash that taste out of your mouth.

Played the Dynasty Warriors Origins demo. Good shit. Not sure how the scope of the game will be. And I have a sneaking suspicion that more weapons will be sold as DLC.

After they butchered Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 with the remake, I'd temper my expectations. All that modern processing power, and yet the AI feels like its powered by a Casio digital watch from 1985.

Oh, KOEI, what happened to you? Its like the TECMO merger stole your soul...

Cheers to Manhunt for turning 21 years old today. It’s officially drinking age now.

I have a funny relationship with that game. My dad, when i was a kid, wouldn't let me play any GTA because those were the one series of games he decided to be a moral busybody over because Grand Theft Auto is the name of a RL crime....

..... but had no problem with letting me play BOTH Manhunt games..... because reasons....

Give it a go. Though it is only a demo, so who knows how the final product will turn out. I am carefully optimistic.

As far as ROTK is concerned, I only dabbled in that franchise. So can't really comment on the quality of past and present games. And remakes especially are an issue. I heard Nobunaga's Ambition is faring a bit better, latest entry is supposedly ok.

I guess the biggest issue with KOEI TECMO'S games is the same as with Total War. A niche franchise without competition, so either you buy the games or play nothing alike.
