According to Mr. Smith, a mechanical and eletrical engineer who Pat childs on a regular basis:
- An IP8 rating is the actual standard that means underwater resistance.
- An IPX8 is just the metric designed by the companies that create the product as a way to say that "under certain conditions", the product probably could resist immersion. Ie, it is no guarantee.
