This is the biggest reason why I think there is going to be a divorce arc. Nick's reaction to negative attention is to double down and rub it in people's faces that he can do what he wants. Kayla's reaction to negative attention is to run and hide. She's susceptible to public opinion and desperately wants people to like her. She set herself up with social circles where being a good mother is mandatory (homeschool and church). She's always going to have the fact that she lost her children to CPS hanging over her head. She's going to freak out at the thought of Nick going back down that road and doing it publicly.

Interesting distinction. Physical custody may be shared with Kayla if she's left. OR the older kids may have choices about where to live. It varies by state but usually after 14 yo, kids can choose between parents and, in this case, grandparents.

Grifty is a shit guy who lives a shit life and wants to preach how good a life it is. In defending everything Nick is doing, Grifty is defending himself as a father and husband.

Grifty is subhuman trailer trash. He has bragged about having been into heavy drugs in the past and hinted that he was a swinger. He currently has four kids. He told a story to defend Nick which heavily implied that grifty and his now ex-wife were on hard drugs before, after and probably during one of her pregnancies.

He was or is a heavy drug taking husband with a non-working drug addict wife who laid around the bedroom and then cheated on him.

Grifty believes:

- Drugs like Coke are cool
- Nick is not an addict. To be cocaine addict, you have to either be smoking crack or shooting up cocaine.
- Being on hard drugs doesn't make someone a bad parent.
- He effectively also argues that Nick's family is doing fine and they are doing fine because they are doing much better than hood rat families raising children in crackhouses. He basically sets the lowest concevable bar for Nick's behavior and says that Nick is doing great.

The phenotype somewhat suggests alot of drinking and/or drug use by the parents of someone like Grifty.
