General Wrestling Discussion

Dave Meltzer raped the Young Bucks in the Summer of 97.

Dave gave it 7 stars.

God what I would give to see prime JBL or Crash Holly stomp a mud hole in these faggots.
Stone Cold would have came out, hit 'em with a Stone Cold Stunner, leave in less than 40 seconds and bury this whole angle in one night. WCW and WWE used to have actual celebs (though it wasn't much better most the time), this reminds me of, "But here comes Robocop, Bob!", but less funny.

I'm seeing comments saying that it's good that they bring celebrities to promote Full Gear, but the problem is I don't know who the fuck is that guy.
They are Tik Tok famous retards, it's basically like having the Hawk Tauh girl fighting some lowly girl wrestler or any other Tik Tok/social media 'famous' retards to promote your wrestling program.

The guy was in the indies before he done the Tik Toks but it's dumb fun in a way.
Well at least he knows how to wrestle some, it might be better than when TNA got that chick that won Survivor on a actual match on a PPV.
But I can't get over how much they are putting into this to have a big segment on their national television program, they must really lack talent and creative to put on a serious show.

p.s.
I think if AEW wants to continue, they should cut down cost considerably, limit it to one show a week, and just go full blown comedy shit. It's already just like one of them comedy wrestling promotions. They should just lean in on that and have fun instead of trying and failing to compete with WWE on the 'serious' wrestling. They should fill that niche.

He's already said stupid shit like they're the best tag team of all time

I know I'm being trolled here (not by you, by Meltzer) but I fucking don't understand how people can say that shit with a straight face.

I don't 'get' the Young Bucks. All I see is 'indie-riffic' stuff being played """ironically""" and a bunch of in-jokes/smarky shit.

If you enjoy them, cool. I don't give a fuck. I just don't understand what the argument is for them being in the running as the 'greatest' tagteam.

Rock 'n Roll Express? They basically created the mold which tag team wrestling still relies on.

Road Warriors? Power wrestling, memorable look which has been copied ad nauseum.

The Rockers? Basically what the Bucks are a Xerox of, but they actually brought in a lot of innovation and high-flying to audiences.

The Miracle Violence Connection, simply for having the most kickass name and two guys who could legitimately kill you.

Dudleys/Hardys/E&C? They more or less popularized spectacle/backyard wrestling.

There's the MCMG, Steiners, Hollywood Blondes, British Bulldogs, New Day, Briscoes, or Undertaker and Big Show for different reasons and who actually contributed more as a tag team than the Bucks.

I met the Bucks forever ago at an indie meet and greet shortly before they debuted in TNA and they were both complete dicks. I've met a lot of wrestlers in that type of setting and I can't remember anyone projecting an "I'd rather be anywhere else" type of vibe as much as they did. I know that some guys like to keep a little bit of kayfabe during those things but this was definitely not that.

I actually kind of liked their schtick in NJPW as the cocky gaijin heels, and I'd be lying if I said that I didn't enjoy their matches during that run. Granted, the industry wasn't completely oversaturated with that style like it seems to be today.

Not sure the Young Balds would even crack a serious wrestling fans top 25. Who have they influenced? What prestigious titles have they won? What will their long-term impact on the business be? Weren't they jobbers when TNA was on its first 1 or 2 deathbeds? Their only notable accomplishments in my eyes are the AAA and IWGP tag titles, both held once. They have more kayfabe awards from the possible pedophile Dave "The Liar" Melt than they do notable title reigns.

Yeah. I can give them credit for being merchandising geniuses, and for helping get AEW off the ground (with the huge caveat that AEW was like 99% having to find a money mark with deep enough pockets and, well, they found the Snowman) but their body of work as performers are either retreads of the Rockers/Outsiders/nWo or indieriffic shit.

And I'm not saying you have to be completely innovative and original with your shit -- Demolition was basically 'we have the Road Warriors at home' for WWF and I'd rate them in like a top 20 or something -- but there's nothing really memorable that sticks out for me. They're like the Billy Gunns of indie tag team wrestling -- good hands in the ring, decent on the mic, and that's about it.
