Once you drink the kool-aid, you'll do some shameful stuff to get oppression points (and thus have more input on an issue). Unfortunately, since Shmorky is mentally ill, trans, AND has a young audience (a majority of Tumblr, mentally and physically) people will fight tooth and nail against anyone who says otherwise because ableist, sexist, transphobic, shit-eaterphobic, etc.

Once the original post about Shmorky gets more traction, more people will believe it. Wait until someone pretty popular on the tumblr scene reblogs it -- more people will believe it then because, that's just how it works, I guess? The more notes = The more credible. That's how most people's trains of thought are on that site. Eesh.

Unfortunately I know not everyone will believe the facts presented despite the post's note count-- Obviously because people have their own opinions, duh, but also because people will not think badly of their idols. A lot of young teens idolize him and his art and will not believe that he is a pedophile until there is a court case -- even then people will defend him.

I kind of get it. Most people are lazy when it comes to seeking out information and want it in a buzzfeed sized bits. Information about Shmorky is spread out across multiple locations and you have to be fairly motivated to seek it out. If there's "too much" information, people don't bother reading it. If there's "too little" information, then "there's no evidence".

I remember the day the Mandy thing blew up on SA. For many, many pages the thread was about making fun of Mandy, her delusions, and her posts on multiple social media accounts. If people were concerned at all, it was for Shmorky. That only changed when Shmorky uploaded the recording. Had he not done that, to this day anything she has said about Shmorky would likely be dismissed as the rantings of a mad woman.

Between the fanbois who think Shmorky can do no wrong because klurfs, the ideologues who think that he can do no wrong because he's "trans", and the fact that the people he manipulates are vulnerable and not always grounded in reality, he has lots of loopholes.

Frustrating though it may be, we're never going to persuade the faithful - and nor is it our job to try. The defenders are always going to be noisier than the people who come across this information and quietly distance themselves from the Shmorkys of this world without fanfare.
