Warhammer 40k

Holy waffles, Krieg are actually gettin' a full box AND codex? Man, Imperial Guard players gonna be happy.

I mean, good fucking luck gettin' Star Wars fans admit how this franchise hit a brick wall. Specially since now they believe it's their sacred duty to suck off the prequels AND all that shit came in between. Like, seriously do people remember half the "What in the fuck"-ery shit we had with the expanded universe books.
I remember, actually re-read a few of the older EU books in the past few years and most of 'em are shit(as in worse than a bunch of the black library stuff). The franchise can be "fixed" and wouldn't even be hard to do so, basically doing a soft reboot in the old republic era but Disney for whatever reason refuses to touch it. That would let people ignore the sequels, not have to bother with the skywalker family, be far enough from the original trilogy that there wouldn't be timeline issues regarding who is where or whatever, plenty of antagonists available, etc.

It would be more difficult to un-fuck star trek at this point because the shitty writers have gotten their mitts all over the franchise from one end of the timeline to the other, and it isn't like there's thousands of years of star trek lore to delve into and ignore other shit.

I think the issue is, Disney is basically afraid to touch the old republic stuff, because they needed shit people can point at an go "I RECOGNIZE DAT!" and you cannot really do that with the old republic unless it's people who were really into that setting and the games. Let's be honest, huge number of Star Wars fans just know of shit from the trilogy, the prequels and the books/games that takes place in it. Thaat's about it.

That's absolutely true, however there's plenty of familiar enough looking things that if they actually had some decent writers could draw people in with good stories. Now does Disney have those writers at the moment? No, they don't.

All you need is some similar enough looking ships, the aliens are still the same, lightsabers and jedi still exist, the sith and "darths" are a thing. There's plenty for normies to latch onto, they just won't bother to read it in a book or watch a cartoon about it. Hell, the mandalorian that Spilled Spaghett mentioned(at least for the first season) was proof of that.

LOL, fuck off with that. A 3 million dollar kickstarter did not "beat" a company that manages to gross over 300 million a year. And if this tranny is excited about it, you know something must be wrong with it.

Looking how Harlequins and Deathwatch ended, it can be a blessing or a curse. Still something neat to look forward to.
Last I recall, Harlequins haven't had much updates in 10th edition so GW pretty much went "Fuck it! Put 'em with the Eldar", plus I seem to recall not many even played Harlequins in 9th edition.

Harlequins were incredibly broken for a few months in 9th, and is why the "dedicated transports have to start with something in them" became a rule. The reality is, it's a sub faction with 3 units, 4 characters, and a transport. That doesn't need to be anything beyond a detachment for eldar in 10th, and they confirmed they're getting a harlequins focused detachment.

DW on the other hand is getting something in December so they'll still be playable as an actual army instead of just as an attachment because they got fucked in the imperial agents codex.

is now going through an island of Dr moreau phase
When hasn't he, really? He's always just done fucked-up shit because he can to the point even the Haemonculi decided his rather childish attempts at imitating true art, much like a child trying to draw the Mona Lisa with crayons, were oddly endearing.

And he outright refuses to worship Slaanesh, to boot! He's just an obsessive egotist who thinks he can do what the Emperor and the Emperor's finest scientists could not... and he's not exactly wrong in that belief.

The core rules team at GW are custodes players, so when Harlequins came out on top of the competitive meta they lobbied hard to have their whole faction stricken. Harlequin can now exist as both craftworlds or dark eldar detachments but their whole troupe detachment rules was reworked. This doesn't bother me at all since lorewise they are indeed their own thing, cruising along the webway as they see fit. Every craftworld welcomes them and even Vect knows better than to try to fuck with them, so they get carte blanche passage through Commorragh.

Excited to see all the two local TC players be kicked out of their local FLGS because the nun, the breaking wheel torture shrine or the satanic SS squadron and their funky fetus scared away little jimmy and his mother's money

Discourse Minis is a clickbaiting faggot. Their videos are all shit tier nothing burgers desperate for attention. They acts like a spas on camera and considers that a personality.

Seems like MajorKill also jumped on the Trench Crusade train.
Yeah, I also saw a kirioth thumbnail for a video where he fangirls about the lore or whatever the hell for it.

GW is not my friend, and I'm not a friend of their's. I'd like to see someone knock them down a peg with a system that actually gets played, but this astroturf for trench crusade is way too obvious, and it's fucking cringe. They'd have been better off having these youtube channels actually stagger this shit out over the course of a couple of months instead of flooding the platform over the span of a couple of weeks.

I was reading on /tg/ a while back that things were not looking as promised with Trench Crusade. It's either been co-opted by troons, or they were always troons that hid themselves well. Personally I hope it's the latter as I had no intentions of playing, but I understand how this degeneracy has upset some people. In the end I really hope that troons just go all in with this game, and leave 40k for the rest of us.

As a side note to the previous discussions about Fabius Bile and female space marines: for those who still want it or are "playing devil's advocate" please refer to the following flow charts. The first is straightforward, and the second one is really for those who can't help themselves.

The only one that can take down GW is GW. If you want to replace 40k you have to do what WoW did 20 years ago. You have to be the cool new kid on the block and be baby's first wargame. 40k is like star wars. It's soft and marketable. You can take your kids to the Warhammer section of the store. Nobody is taking their kids to look at Trench Crusade models. If your wargame looked like Valorant, or anime girls with guns, kids would be into it. If your game becomes popular with kids they will grow up to be adults with disposable income. 40k becomes a Boomer wargame that your Dad used to play.

I don't think there is much room for army sized wargames in the near future. Kids can't afford 50+ models that are tiny and fragile. You need chunky Amiibo models that double as collectable figures. The hobby aspect would have to get cut in favor of premade models out of the box. Equipment might be sold separately as upgrades that snap in. You can resell the same model in different skins since kids will be too lazy to paint or model it themselves. Maybe you make money selling terrain too.

Whatever comes next to replace 40k is not going to be anything anyone here is going to enjoy. That's just the reality of it. 40k but better is a failed concept because the people who want a better 40k are, quite frankly, too old to matter.

Krieg? Aside from obviuosly taking from ww1 instead of ww2... they're french. The blue coats, pinning the bottoms of the coats back. The wraps around the bottom of the pants. That's ww1 french.

So basically.. Infinity. Which I heard is getting some animated thing.

For a while "people" were calling Krieg a dogwhistle alongside Black Templar. Because the average faggot looks at Krieg (which are predominently influenced by WWI French uniforms) and see SS troops, anyone who plays them is a Nazi. They of course ignore that the Imperium is an Authoritarian Dictatorship that is far worse than any Fascist government of the early 1900s.

Ok so you were just going off of what retards think, got it. And yeah, unfortunately they're still retarded and think that.
Never heard of it. Will look into it.
Yeah, it's a cyberpunk kind of sci-fi skirmish game thing(there was also a board game kinda version at one point Aristeia or something) made by Corvus Belli. Been around for a few years and I think they're on version 5 or something now. They've got an app use it for match data for balance and dropping things when they see no one is actually playing them, Minis in metal and plastic, a pretty huge variety of factions, uses standardized silhouettes for line of sight. Seems to borrow a bit from Mass Effect, has some transhumanism thing like ghost in the shell about copying people into new bodies, doesn't have a bunch of aliens in the way 40 does but they've still got a faction of them, a formerly lost colony of space americans/europeans or whatever, it has a bunch of lore.
I guess the animated series is going to follow the haqqislam muslim faction or something? I'm not 100% sure.

My understanding is that it's had some popularity in Europe for a few years, with some ups and downs in North America, and this year Corvus Belli decided to release their "Warcrow" fantasy skirmish game but uses proprietary dice like they're something made by Asmodee. At any rate, if they're making a push into other media now it basically fits the anime looking scifi skirmish game with a lower required model count that a younger audience might be more interested in.
