Been busy at work and catching up via highlights, so apologies if this was asked and answered. If Nick was actually going to plea out, why would Kayla have filed such a strange document just before anything happened? It doesn't make much sense, to me at least, to say he had something else on his nose and that all he does is performance art if Nick's going to turn around and just plea guilty.
There's no deal until there's a deal.
And they are separate cases. Kayla has to do her best on her case.
Not contesting the warrant/mounting a defense would be needlessly giving away a) a very, very slim chance of prevailing or getting some good language in a decision, and b) getting another opportunity to sully Aaron's and others' names on public record.
It also sets up potential negotiation theories for her deal even if the motion is denied: her second charge relates to neglect of the kids. If the reporter (I found the references to "informant" to be distasteful and disingenuous) isnt reliable (he is), then that's a potential argument against a charge that she neglected them, depending on the exact facts the prosecutor is looking at as amounting to neglect. It's all a loser, but the point of a plea is avoiding having to go through a trial, so it doesn't hurt to scatter some seeds in advance.
Also may explain why no final deal with Nick today. If Kayla's motion somehow managed to turn the world upside down and succeed, Nick's negotiation position is also improved, so kicking his stuff out a month allows time for the Court to rule on Kayla's motion, whereas he's already lost his challenge of the warrant so no downside potential on that.
Also goddamn of course nothing happens, it always seems to just be kicking the can further down the road with these lolsuits.
Stuff happened, just not visibly. But the Nose thinks it was great.
