All of production and half the people in this thread don't know what they want fishtank to be.
Production sets up Fishtank 2.0. Elimination is by vote. The game is to get the old fish eliminated by manipulating the new fish into voting them off without realizing that you're an old fish. 99% sure new fish can not win, do not vote them off, it's a waste. Here's Jet's explanation from twitter:
You can’t just directly fight your enemy, you have to convince a bunch of strangers to ice them out for you- and if they find out why you’re out
Production hires a guy they're disgusted with. Binx and Simbal immediately recognize that going against him is a bad move if everyone is on his side, they'll single themselves out. Binx successfully plays the game of manipulation by siding with the pedo and manipulating everyone into voting out Simbal. Production and fans are angry with the fish for playing the game instead of attacking the pedo and losing the game.
Production tells Binx she has to do "something" but not what. Binx ramps up the manipulation significantly. Production and fans are surprised that she's doing literally what she was told to do.
No one tells Payton that voting no longer happens: Only "the boyz" and Binx know. Payton is still "matching the energy" as she was explicitly instructed to do. Production and fans are angry that she's blending in and doing nothing, just as she was told to do.
Every third sentence out of Burt's mouth amounts to "what's going on, this game doesn't make any sense." Production and fans think he's having a mental break instead of telling him what the game is, because production doesn't know what the game is beyond "be entertaining."
The game is set up to eliminate the most interactive fish and reward the most boring and the most manipulative fish, and the three fish that are left are the boring one, the manipulative one, and the guy who locks himself in his room to masturbate as often as possible. Even if you throw out the game mechanics and decide the show is based on resilience to hell house, the "cry in the bathroom" strategy seems to be the correct way to play: crying in the bathroom is boring, and boring fish don't get hassled by production. Production and the fans hate simpbaiting, but they can't let the fans hassle the simpbait into leaving because the simps are the ones buying $15000 worth of plushies.
Is it supposed to be a game of social manipulation? Then Binx is the best fish by a long shot, and that's who the fans were trying to gaslight Sam into kicking. Is it supposed to be a game of surviving a hell house, or making the house hell for your competition? Then Simbal and Mizzy were the best fish, and they let the other fish kick them while the worst fish get coddled.
