Hey guys, I need help again.

Just started playing Half-Life 2. This is my first playthru.

I'm using an 8BitDo SN30 Pro2 controller (my current living space makes keyboard and mouse uncomfortable at the moment) and... for some reason every five minutes or so, my view will randomly just be whipped around to be looking somewhere else, sometimes without me even pressing anything.

I googled and found no solution (I found one but the person was having that issue with the mouse, not with a gamepad, and the solution he found didn't work for me).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.
Bluetooth on those things get janky if you don't have dedicated Bluetooth dongole for your PC.

I never finished black mesa. Every update it had seemed to break and delete my saves. Forcing me to start over at least 3 times. I tried playing the OG half life and I could never get far into it.

too much to post at once, I'll give the ones off the top of my head that irk me the most. Be prepared for a "stuff nobody cares about" post
Much like MMOD for Half Life 2, Black Mesa is a poor way to play Half Life for someone's very first time imo, but can be great fun for someone returning to the game.

Yep thats the one.

Re black mesa: I prefer fanfiction in some areas to original. Its a GOOD decision to cut off most of on a rail, because it sucked. You dont need hordes of extra headcrabs in every level. Xen is milion times better than OG and you must be sniffing your own farts to believe otherwise.

Black Mesa team did amazing job. HL1 aged horribly, at least in the level design department, and I cannot blame them for changing how it played out.

What do you guys think of HLX? Haven't seen anyone talking about it outside of Tyler McNigger
I think that it'll be good but if it and DR Chapter 3&4 suck then I'm officially becoming Hitler.
I'm sorry, it had to be done.

They also incentivize the populace into suppressing themselves by offering them better benefits for joining their police force and military, promise better benefits for subjecting themselves to memory alteration programs and surgical procedures that will basically strip them of their humanity, dangle rewards like more ration allocations for reporting anticitizen behavior (albeit while also threatening punishment for even nonparticipation), and threaten "permanent offworld assignment" and "preservation of family cohesion" for failure to meet duties in a way that Overwatch deems adequate.
And there's also the suppression field making it so the "Goy" cannot breed... Damn there's a lot of similarities when you get down to it.

Blue shift 2: is half life 2 episode 1 and 2
To clarify I mean conceptually similar to ep 1 and 2.
And had a thought that Sheppard could come back for a critical moment in the 7 hour war to deal a big enough blow to the combine to make them reconsider human genocide in favor of assimilation

I finished Black Mesa: Blue Shift today or the 5/9 chapters that were finished, I was really really impressed! It wouldn't be hard to blow Blue Shift out of the water but they went and did it anyways. It takes way more liberties than Black Mesa with the source material but more often than not its with good reason. They've gone so far as to add things from Alyx like the Xen grenades, which Vorts can toss at you now and even slightly explained why Xen looks so different in BM by having an area that's dedicated to looking pretty much exactly like HL1 Xen.

Problems wise Focal Point is the best and simultaneously the worst chapter. Surprise, surprise much like Interloper it goes on for way too long (not joking the chapter is like 4 hours in length) and overuses the Alien Controllers. The last few arenas in the big factory section is much like BM's factory section in that its raw unfiltered AIDS. Except this time prettier. I guess you can say I "didn't beat it" for using buddha but if the game is not going to respect me then I will not respect it.

I actually do have a bluetooth receiver but I never used it because my PC detects bluetooth naturally.

As it happens, I found a weird roundabout solution.

So that controller of mine has four settings--Xinput, Dinput, whatever the fuck Apple's interface is called, and Nintendo Switch.

So I looked into connecting it while it was on Nintendo Switch mode. That worked and completely eliminated the issue.

So apparently the Xinput is somehow the problem. Not sure why.

I played it recently and that was my essentially my issue with it. As cool and impressive as Focal Point is, it's too fucking long. By the time I was two thirds in the chapter, I stopping taking my time through the levels and was just wanting it to end. I can imagine this will make trying to play through mod in one sitting dreadful. Still though, I can't wait to see the future chapters, I like Blue Shift.

Some news, also related to a mod. That one mod, HL2 Overcharged, known for overbloating the game with weapons and enemies, and being incredibly buggy to the point that people shit on it for that, had its 2.0 version released, which not only fixed absolutely nothing, but also had code in the client.dll that blocked 4 community members Steam Id's from being able to launch the mod, these community members I guess having been very critical of the mod, including this guy who made a video on the issue.

Checking the mod page on Moddb, the downloads have been scrubbed which seems to have been done by moderators after receiving a lot of reports.

Seems like moddb being faggy as always. They take down mods if someone gets butthurt.

That is fucking retarded. Why do this shit?

If the modders are petty enough to insert code that bans specific people, then who the hell knows what else they added or might add in an update out of spite, like malware?

Because they can’t handle criticism in true lolcow fashion, or “talking shit” as the ban reason in the video puts it. I wouldn’t be surprised if A Jolly Wangcore was on the ban list as well.

Jolly wasn't apparently, according to his twatter. The four referenced steam account was not any of his.

Question is then does it have malware and if it does, does it activate only if the specific accounts are detected? I doubt it has any malware.

Half life will probably remain a tech demo showcase for whenever valve decides to make another game. I hope they make a next gen Half Life FPS that runs well on the steam deck as the next entry to the series after they finished Alyx and moved on to selling Handheld PC's. The Industry seems to have forgotten how to make those.
It's pretty meta and fitting. Just like G-Man with Gordon, Valve pulls the Half-Life IP out of stasis if they have some tech they want to show off and potentially sell. Then it goes back into the cuck shed indefinitely. As for handhelds, that sounds like game development, not "exciting breakthroughs". Nintendo Valve ain't, so I wouldn't hold my breath.
