Burt's behavior and acting made a lot more sense when I remembered he's been educated as sped his entire life. Especially as one high functioning enough to be somewhat independent and go to university. Sometimes you got to sit them down and say, "listen. There's some behaviors that are socially unacceptable. Act exactly as I say". However, because they're sped, they will never understand why its socially acceptable. Trying to explain it to them is futile, so you must impose upon them the notion of "trust me completely, even if you don't understand". It's not a moral failing or anything, it's just necessary for them to integrate into society in whatever way they can.
