I recently watched another one of those videos clowning on Troonguard by comparing the writing to that of BG3. The first example is the coffee talk scene, for those who want to see just how bad it is.

The thing that coffee talk scene is that if you think of it as a scene written by the sort of person who would otherwise be writing cozy 'coffeshop AU' fanfiction on Tumblr, it suddenly makes a lot more sense.

Original God of War developer folks, further proving that he is either 100% out of touch with reality or he never was to begin with. Reminder that just because you directed (and sometimes even "created" something, example being ATLA) something, doesn't mean you actually had any influence on its success.

He just sounds industry brained to me in this. He's not defending the game because he thinks it's a good product, he's defending it because he doesn't want to be put under the same scrutiny when a game he helps develop comes out. And to add to your point, yes, him being part of a successful game doesn't mean he's fully dialed in. That's just how it is when you're part of a creative endeavor that requires many people to bring to fruition. But, to play devil's advocate, on the other hand it must suck if you're part of game development and the game you end up putting out gets criticized and you catch flak, even though you haven't really contributed to the parts that are considered shit. That's no excuse to defend garbage, though.

David Jaffe has also gone apeshit and bragging how much of a "ally" he is. I'm surprised he doesn't have a Kiwi Farms thread yet.

YouTubers that David Jaffe "blamed" on as "grifters" are now talking about his apeshit behavior.

oy vey going there you insult the gaming industry you're being very anti-Semitic you need to love the girl penis

She was way better as Harding in Inquisition. Liara always talks like she's on the verge of outta breath. Harding at least talks like a normal woman but not only was veilguard content to fuck up every chara but also the voice direction.
I always prefered the Liara from ME1 to the one from the later games, she sounded "normal". I didn't like the weird ASMR voice she had in ME2 and 3.

He was so deep that even the dwarves who dig balrog cannot uncover him.
He's got the charm and wisdom of a seasoned salty sea captain.
Along with the crippling alcoholism of one.

This dipshit decided a couple days ago to blame "grifters"
Jaffe got real bad TDS and as a result can't shut up. Revealing to everyone how dumb he really is for the past 8 years+.
Remember last year he was calling Metroid Dread bad design because he ignored all the breaking walls from shooting enemies above him prior.

I'd call himself a grifter but he'd have to have an audience could grift off of first for that to be true.

it is always always telling how much these ppl always look down on you and think you are an idiot that needs to be guided and sorted out by them.

The notion that they made a game sooooo good but somehow you cannot think and try for yourself because shitposters on youtube says its bad, so you nodded along, it's just so condescending.

This is why the journos come along together and write fake reviews, marketing does the same, because they believe if they tell you its good, you will be nodding along too.

David Jaffe has to be woke, or pretend to be, because the first three God of War games were joyous examples of toxic masculinity and he would be excoriated, all his DMs and dick pics to women online exposed, metoo'ed to hell and back, et cetera had he not repented and begged for forgiveness from the cult. I stopped caring what he had to say ages ago, because he has the most unappealing soy face and voice plus he's a hypocrite.

The entire game had to be approved by several tiers of sensitivity consultants, so food is the only thing that can be talked about with offending or triggering someone.

Vincent Price lookalike is the male version of how Liara talks and I may be a bit salty cuz I wanted a Vincent Price Necromancer and we got a weird teehee necromancy funny guy instead.. what is up with the Lich thing btw?? There never were any Liches in dragon age where tf did they come from?? Immortal??

Yeah, it's a real shame we didn't get Vincent Price. I would even take Peter Lorre.

Harding was vastly superior in Inquisition. She seemed like a more real character. Harding in Inquisition looks and acts like someone who can take care of themselves. She is a competent team leader doing invaluable work for the Inquisitor. She's cool, calm and collected, and adorably shy when you flirt with her. Her character comes across as someone who, while surprised the Inquisitor likes her, understands her own value.

In Veilguard, she's just another follower, and that adorable shyness is now just tumblerina "I can't believe he likes me". And this time it isn't even for the Herald of Andraste, it's just for some random guy.

On the off chance anyone missed it:

Have to disagree he always was kinda like that. Guy made it a massive point telling media he thought his game studio was haunted.

Creatives and there work if successful should always be held seperate.

for too long, fantasy has been plagued by the br*tish accent
I'm fine with it as long as there is variety. Origins having people from different kingdoms actually sound and speak differently was a fantastic touch you don't see these days.
For all their many other faults, I think the Fable games did voice-acting best. Get some of the most distinctive British voice actors and have a lovely old time. Although a lot of the big names in those games (John Cleese, Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross) have since been cancelled which I guess is why they've rolled out Richard Ayoade for the new game (that's definitely coming out. Promise).

Much like studio names, people really need to stop putting weight behind individual creators just because they've been part of great work in the past. I love Hideo Kojima, 40-minute cutscenes and all, but it's very clear he had people at Konami who were willing to tard-wrangle a lot of his dumber ideas, and that's what the real batshit creatives need.

Apparently it was the same with Peter Molyneux and Lionhead studios: he was great at telling Microsoft to fuck off and wait til the game was done, but he also had people around him who would tell him no when he tried to introduce some incredibly complex feature in the 11th hour of development.

All this is to say I bet you anything David Jaffe was the cunt who decided to put all those spinning blade sections in GoW 1's Hades segment.

whoever decided it was a good idea to fight TWO dragons at the same time, deserves a kick in the balls (if the person lacks the balls, throw them in a woodchiper). the game was clearly not designed for it.

finally drooping the game on journalist mode. i just want it to be over.

i can't tell if you mean awakening or failguard

failguard. i dont remember having to fight two dragons in awakening at the same time.

It's the boss fight for the Silverite Mine. You probably don't remember it because with a high level Warden it's a relatively trivial battle. Also, they're just adult male dragons, not the huge High Dragons like you find at the Temple of Sacred Ashes.

Maybe it's just me, but it feels like BG3 also had people who actually acted? Some of it is very theatre-school tier of overacting but like, they tried.
Some of the overacting in BG3 actually plays into the atmosphere, honestly. Harkens back to shitty old fantasy movies from the 80s/90s, or even friends hamming it up at the table during a campaign. That said, there are certainly limits to how much one can tolerate, even with that fairly generous interpretation

Eh, real Baldur's gate does that better with the few lines, obviously fake accents and hammy summations of the character in their barks brings the tone of the tabletop much better. BG3 is tryhard.
