The Final Fantasy Thread

Speaking of which, how soon do you think Rebirth's PC port will get announced? I'm guessing they will announce it sometime before TGA like FFVII Remake's PC port (albeit they released it on the Epic Scam Store first) and the game will probably be released on Steam sometime around December-January is my bet, since we all know Square wants to get this game out on PC ASAP to make up for all the lost sales.
I think the PS exclusivity deal is a year or two That was the same with the last remake.

Unless they can negotiate from under that it probably wont be out for a little while.

Otherwise boy does time fly

With concord.getting the plug pulled on it for being dei garbage no-one asked for hope.part 3 of stillbirth/shitmake will b3 canned. Ironically people wanted a ff7 remake but no nomoron ruined it and killed the franchise
FFVII Rebirth didn't get pulled from retail only 8 fucking days after it released, the game still scored quite well with most people despite the poor sales.

FF16 is out on steam.
The game has brown arabs. But the journalists complain that there is no 'diversity'
Which means by diversity, they mean ugly sub-Saharan niggers.
All others races like asian(chinese-huans, Japanese, indo-phillipine), eastern europeans, hispanics or even indians dont count.
Only ugly niggers count as 'diversity' to these journalists.

Tried FFXV, and I'm considering giving up. I've only just reached the motel, but there's regular 30-50 second freezes, sometimes during combat (I have a 4060 and the the game runs at 110 fps at maximum otherwise, it's not due to my system), apparently you don't even get the complete story from finishing the game, and the car is basically just a slow roller coaster along a boring highway. Do things get better? Can I fix the freezes? I don't mind the combat and the characters are likeable.

So far I've excluded the game from windows defender and turned off control flow guard, both didn't fix anything.

Have you tried using Special K?

I didn't, because I thought it was for input issues, I'll try this and see
Some of the most recent Steam feedback suggest joining the Special K Discord for the latest builds of the general mod (instead of just the specialized FFXV version of the mod) just in case what's provided there doesn't work, but YMMV.

We'll get part 3, they'll just dial up the DEI bucks harder and phone it in this time.

So Square lied about everyone being white, I remember reading an interview and the guy held his ground saying that's just the story they're telling this time. Guess they cucked after that pressure.

Nu-FF games and/or Squeenix games have this weird in-medias-res kind of story that in order to fully appreciate the story, you must consume the short novel prologue, drama cd of side characters/villains, ova movies that happens just days before the game start, sidequel anime, and also read the novelization to go deep dive on the lore. and most of these additional materials are never leaving Japan.

In order to "get" the FFXV story, you have to at least watch the FFXV Kingsglaive and the Dawn of the Future novel, also the manga also helps flesh out characters like Prompto and

in fact, Nier Automata does it too, there's a lot of lore and prequel stuff that is locked away behind some gacha games, novels and even musicals and stage plays

Replicant/Gestalt has done this as well to an extent, and way before the recent remaster was a thing.

I'd chalk that up more to a general Yoko Taro thing specifically for the Drakenier media.

They didn't put any niggers in the game because the story revolves around slavery.

That novel is a bunch of bullshit last-second swerves that barely line up with the game though.

Which can also be said for Episode Ardyn itself.

So last single player Final Fantasy i played was 12 so are any of the single player games since worth playing if I'm looking to have fun? (I'm well aware of what the 13 trilogy was like so i mean more like 15, 16 and spinoffs)

Started playing ff4 (gba) now that I have an emulator on my phone. Still a great game, but I don’t remember it being this easy.

Even after forgetting half of what everything does, it doesn’t feel difficult. Not complaining though.
FF4 presents zero challenge until about halfway through, at which point it suddenly starts spiking all over the place. The no metal cave and the world of monsters or whatever are both awful. The place where you fight Rubicante is pretty brutal too.

But the real challenge is the final dungeon. Fuck that place. Just run from everything so you're nice and fresh for Zeromus.

FF4 was one of my very first RPGs and sparked a deep, autistic obsession with the FF franchise and JRPGs as a whole, but it is not a good game. It's okay.

I gotta say the best one right now would be ff7 rebirth. Remake was a bit cutscene bloated in a metal gear way but rebirth opened up significantly and was really good. As much as it changed things up, they did a fantastic job filling out the world and keeping most of the best moments of the original.

14 is actually pretty decent and can be played as a sort of single player story MMO for the most part.

15 is... Ok. Id recommend watching the documentary on what it could have been before anything else.

16 is not really recommended unless they modded it out on PC. I thought the combat was underdeveloped and the story was a bit generic.

Stranger of paradise is a fun God of war/dark souls type game. Genuinely good edge lord plot with a twist.

Personally I feel like the story of the 13 trilogy is underrated but I can't speak for gameplay.

(I'll always shill the shit out of KH too. )

The novel is literally the canned dlc copy pasted like a walkthrough. It's lame if slightly interesting. The most cool part was the confirmation that versus is another timeline/dream that noctis briefly glimpses.

Gameplay for that trilogy was always weird. First one had auto-battle as the default, optimum way to control characters. Second looked more of the same, but with monster recruitment. Only one I liked out of it was Lightning Returns because it actually has less plot and characterization, but the entire time, I was thinking "Tri-Ace could have made a better version of this game all the way back in the PS2 days."

Plot wise I think 3 is actually the best one, there's genuine character development for all the ex party members and the idea of a world of stagnant immortals that have to be saved via getting their souls collected by lightening is pretty neat. There was some translation issues that made the big bad more generic and less genuinely creepy but otherwise it gives lighting the best character development and actual insight into her personality besides being a female cloud.

1 is pretty solid plotwise when you realize it's intentionally creating a volatile situation where the party has no idea wtf they are supposed to be doing and aggressively hates each other (for valid reasons). There's a lot of obtuse terminology but if you can get past that, the overall narrative is pretty simple. Somebody created magical ai constructs for the planet and floating city above that have lost sight of their purpose and have gone haywire branding people for seemingly no reason.
long story short they were designed to instigate an endless war to harvest souls between the people in the sky City and the people on the planet, but the people living on the planet all died out and the AI doesn't know how to process "winning"
I think it does a future FF story better then say 15.

2 is the worst. Mainly because the main characters are shit. They MGS2ed lighting and swapped her out for her annoying/bland sister and some future dude. It had a lot of potential to be better and the story ideas and settings are actually pretty interesting. It takes a lot of inspiration from crono trigger as you hop around the past and the future. Meet new people, alter timelines, get optional bad endings. Who knows maybe they are dramatically better in Japanese but the main leads are lame in english. I can say their dynamic is awkward as shit, because it's almost leading towards a love story (and probably should have been one) but because snow isn't the main lead (a crime against nature) and this other dude is, they have to tiptoe around that.

Ironically has one of the best villain's in the entire franchise though.

1 is 80% plot while 3 is about 20% plot, 60% setting.
