Ukrainian Defensive War against the Russian Invasion - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

Russian Army claimed the downing of a Ukrainian reconnaissance UAV "Fury". The post was later deleted because it turned out that a Russian drone was shot down. November 2024

Auto-translated post of the source; "Z-military leader Olga Kurlaeva yesterday published a post where they allegedly shoot at the Ukrainian reconnaissance UAV "Fury". Then other Z-patriots found out that the target was a military drone from the Russian Sever group, which costs more than 10 million rubles. Kurlaeva deleted her post and admitted the mistake"

The Chinese seem very careful of US Treasury sanctions, so there's a bit of a partial ally.
Russia, for all of their dysfunctional bullshit, are still a massive net-exporter of grain and energy. China is a massive net importer and while the sort of sanction regime that we applied to Russia would introduce significant hardship for us, it would be absolutely catastrophic for them.

So the gist is "It's really impressive if you don't know anything about long-range missile tech"
Yep.... Aka most Russian MiC claims or Russian weapon propaganda.

Eg. The Russians were bigging up a new bombsight system over Syria in 2015.... If you really read what they were saying it was impressive..... If you're a USAF attack jet pilot form the 1970s as they were describing a CCIP system that you'd see on an A-7D/E... And every other USAF/USN jet made since.
Putins nuclear threats are completely flat at this point. Nobody believes them, and more importantly everyone believes that if Putin does use nukes it will be an exchange Russia would not survive.

He's rattled the nuclear Sabre one too many times. It's at the point that even a demonstration use of a nuclear weapon on Ukraine could bring NATO down on him like a sack of bricks. And he knows it. China has also said all but publicly if Russia uses nukes they are on their own.

It's important to note that at no point in history has a US President rattled the nuclear Sabre. The threat of American nukes has always been an implied force of nature. Never a matter of formal policy or negotiations. France, China and the UK have been the same way. Putin is the only clown that dances around about how he's totally going to nuke the world this time.

He's done it for 20 years and the threat is no longer landing.
Yep. Putin also knows if he does use a nuke in Ukraine.... The Russian economy will stop working.
So I think that if China had good reason to believe Russia would actually launch a nuke, American use of sacred Chinese airspace is probably on the table to stop it. If Putin presses the button, once Russia has blown most of its load on Europe, there is no reason China wouldn't show Russia what a real meatwave looks like and take Siberia
Ehh they'd probably just push for more and more favorable energy deals.
A lot of these pointless discussions are the fruit of people fundamentally misunderstanding the situation. They eat up the bullshit that Russia had any legitimate security concerns regarding full scale invasion by foreign powers, no one had interest in that after USSR fell apart - it was time of reconciliation and cooperation, and pretty much all former adversaries of Russia were looking forward to a period of peace that hopefully wouldn't end.
We're finding ourselves here because Putin chose to revive old fears and wield them to fulfill his personal ambitions. It's all a goddamn farce that's on the verge of becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy due to his refusal to see reason.
Yep.

The other thread is FULL of Russian-boos and west hating Westerners (usually /pol types) who slurp down any Russian propoganda they get served.
All of it tbqh. They are starting to get down to the scrap metal tier tanks that have been rotting in fields. As for the Ammo stockpiles, well they North Korean ammo now. So yeah.

Ths real damage though is the demonstration of just how superior NATO kit is over Russian. Their MICs foreign sales are never going to recover from this, and that was one of Russias few major exports outside natural resources.
Lol the Russian MiC was beclowned from February 2022 till now.

The Su-57 is way too expensive for 80% of normal Russian arms customers and they have very VERY little spare production capacity even if they had orders. Ex, Russia has induced a total of 10-14 Su-34s this year with maybe 2 more on the way..... 12-16 jets a YEAR is French production numbers. Su-35 and Su-30 are similar so Russia is making and inducting ~30-40 combat aircraft a year.... And losing 10-20 a year.....

The Su-57 isn't even "finished" as it's engines are STILL interim until next year.

Everything else is modified stuff from the 1980s and the modifications don't fix the fundamental design issues or USSR equipment.
Another side effect of the war.

Since Russians embarassed themselves, Turkey gathered every last anti-Asad faction and now is about to assault Aleppo, knowing the ziggers' teeth are broken and Asad's only supporter is a drunk weakling. So if you want to see Alawites beheaded, women enslaved and auctioned, watch Damascus carefully for the next month's gore and rape videos.
Lol nah. The Alawites will protect their areas but Aleppo fell in ~36 HOURS and Assad's army cut and RAN leaving behind tons of equipment.... As usual.
If true, Russia is already abandoning their Kurdish and (more importantly) Syrian Government allies in Aleppo:

It's like 2023 Nagorno-Karabakh, when the Russian "peacekeepers" just upped sticks and left for good; Russia didn't even respond when Azerbaijan killed five of them.

Doubling its border with NATO AND letting the Turkish jannies sweep away Russian influence in northern Syria? SMO going swimmingly.
Lol, the 3 day SMO has gone to Day 1003 with no signs of stopping .

Assad is turbo fucked as his sugar daddy Russia is incapable of truly helping like they did in 2015-2019 and Iran and Hezzbollah have been smashed for the time being.
I'm surprised the BMP's didn't get damaged by those barricades given how well they've held up under stress in this war.
The barricade wasn't a light shaped charge so it was safe.... Kinda.

AA & small-arms damage to an AN-2 which got lost at night and flew over an oil refinery in Bashkortostan.

Video of overflight, which was mistaken for a Ukrainian drone:

This whole SMO brings back memories of an online what-if question touching upon this in 1997. The question paraphrasing here, what if the United States had acquired the license(s) to build the MiG-29 and/or SU-27 as the less expensive alternative to American designed and built fighter. All those who bothered to speculate an answer inevitably kept arriving at the same one. Not possible as even the most minimum Americanizing would've ended up vastly too expensive due to "gold-plating." As back then even with the wild west internet it was the common belief that Sovier/Russian aviation design and construction was still at the same level with western and American designs and construction quality.

Yeah the engine lifespan was a huge issue back then and they're still rated for fewer hours than Western designs.

I think a USAF pilot who flew the F-16 and Mig-29 said something similar, the Mig-29 was VERY maneuverable and the HMS was great.

However, once the F-16 got a HMS the Mig's advantages essentially vanished and to get a MiG-29 (at 1990s prices even) to the electronics standards and capabilities of an F-16 would have cost as much or even more than an F-16

Honestly I hope Asad or Putin lobs a hypersonic on Erdogan then off themselves too making a general cleanup but a roach can dream

Israel is suffering from the same birth rate decline as the West. The secular Jews won't have kids and the only Jews that do are the orthodox Jews but they don't join the IDF. Israel won't be Jewish for long. The dune coons will breed them into the sea.

Speaking of vatnigs seething & willful cognitive dissonance, now they're screeching about Ukraine commiting warcrimes because they hit this Russian combine with an FPV, near Belgorod:

Meanwhile in St. Petersburg/Petrograd, a former SMO participant smashed his neighbor with a baseball bat, who complained about music being too loud:

In his defense, I saw a video of a Fallujah veteran beating a guy to death in a Dennys parking lot with a 2x4.
I do not imagine Russians have much in the way of veterans mental health care.

And despite such treatment they're still fighting for this regime:stress:

Motherfucker. This is the kind of trash Putin relies on to stay in power, Russia's "heroes'. He'll probably get away with it too, like many before him.
Acting all badass after sucker punching the guy, who didn't even think of defending himself.

https://kiwifarms.st/threads/2024-12-01-death-by-destiny.205995/ Josh explains here, the tl:dr is traffic trying to view the Destiny leaks crashed the site, and then the backup got corrupted necessitating a rollback.

In future you can keep up to date on happenings with the site on the KF Telegram, or on tg.josh.rs if you don't want to use Telegram itself.

In fairness, noise nancys are annoying, but a baseball bat goes too far. The bat is for sport not violence.

A question that arises is whether Putin will divert much to Syria? Air power is no use without men on the ground and given the state of the Syrian Armed Forces and auxiliaries and allies , that is no certainty. There is the Tartus naval base, but that cannot be too crucial now. Apparently it makes air connections to Africa and its grey market gold (eg Sudan) easier.

Zelensky's word's and Sky News's reporting of them are somewhat at variance, but Rupert Murdoch's news services tend to be scuzzy and happy to play fast and loose with the facts.

Presumably or perhaps Zelensky envisages the way Cyprus joined the EU and S Korea is part of the east Asian security infrastructure while nominally at war, but in both the Korean peninsula and Cyprus, there is essentially peace, barring incidents, mainly Nork stuff.

It's a strange headline and the article doesn't make clear if that's how Jake Sullivan answered or asked. UA would have to apply to Mr VV Putin for return of nuclear weapons and delivery vehicles like bombers (used to deliver some of the conventional attacks on Ukraine's cities and people). Per an agreement just after the USSR fell, Russian forces were already managing them. I don't think Vladimir Vladimirovich would be agreeable (apparently another supposed SMO reason). However, it's probably some sub editor came up with that headline. The essence presumably is the US doesn't want a nuclear armed UA, but that might change if aid remains so threadbare and under-delivered. Anyhow, the surrender of nukes means the West is required to support Ukraine.
