I wanna point out we still have one month and about 3 weeks left on Biden's Wild Ride. Thing will get crazier as the dawn of the final day approaches.

Could Zelensky be brought in as a witness in the trial? Can foreign nationals involved in trials in the USA be summoned by prosecution/defense for witness reasons?

Given the point raised about a pardon conflicting with the 5th does this mean part of the reason for the freak out is that now Hunter is free to just go off and name everyone involved without fear of being arrested, thus bringing down all the other nepo babies who haven't been pardoned?

Call me dumb, but all of this feels like a "calculated" move by the democrats to artificially "clean house" without actually changing internal leadership after an utter loss.

Any suggestion of agency or plotting by Biden seems like total spin to me. He's a dementia ridden old man. Every move was decided by the DNC. They just made terrible decisions.

Even this egregious pardon (coinciding with the stories claiming it was Biden who independently decided to pass things off to Kamala mid-campaign) feels like it was decided by the DNC to just try to write everything off on Biden, to provide a scapegoat for any failings here.

You think after he steps down in 2028 he's going to give it back to the government or pass it to the next Republican candidate, so that whenever a Republican is president the capitol is at Mar-A-Lago and whenever a Democrat is in power the capital is the DC cesspit?

I can see why. Joe carried water for the establishment for over 50 years and they were going to shove him out the door unceremoniously. So he gave them the middle finger right back. Same goes for pardoning Hunter. Hope there’s a few more things he’s going to do to shit all over the party that tried to fuck him over.

The US federal government effectively suspended various parts of the constitution that are not the writ of habeas corpus and were never ruled illegal by a court or by congress passing a law later saying from now on that's illegal during both world wars. Not all of the actions sailed through scot-free and all of them were eventually repealed after the wars, but the principle itself that in war the federal government can ignore the constitution was not wholly proscribed. You're arguing convention, which is not law. And semantics. The difference between "limitations" and "suspension" is all in the details. The Sedition Act of 1918 had no effective defined limits, and was never ruled illegal while in operation or post-hoc by legislation. Congress simply repealed it in 1921. The government didn't even bother to pass a law in WW2, Roosevelt signed an executive order and said here's the Office of Censorship, please cooperate with it so we don't have to issue orders, and the media went along. The guy they put in charge of it was the executive news editor of the Associated Press! Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. v. Sawyer ruled the president can't ignore the 5th amendments in wartime by himself, but explicitly left open that acts of Congress could, with the scope of Congress' ability to do so mostly undefined. In short, yes, the constitution could be legally suspended and still can be

When you get down to it, if Congress declared war and it was a "total war," whether a WW1 or WW2 situation, or US invaded situation, or rebellion/civil war regarded as a threat to the continued existence of the republic, and subsequently effectively suspended parts or all of the Constitution, whether it would be allowed or not would depend wholly on whether the public accepted that the alleged danger justified it, not whether it was "legal"
