KR South Korean president declares emergency martial law, accusing opposition of anti-state activities

Article | Archive

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared an “emergency martial law,” Tuesday accusing the country’s opposition of controlling the parliament, sympathizing with North Korea and paralyzing the government with anti-state activities.

Yoon made the announcement during a televised briefing. He declared the step as critical for defending the country’s constitutional order. It wasn’t immediately clear how the steps would affect the country’s governance and democracy.

Yoon since taking office in 2022 had struggled to push his agendas against an opposition-controlled parliament.

Isn’t his opposition the literal lesbian feminist sex cult? How is him doing a self-coup against them a bad thing?
South Korean politics are extremely polarized, there's that extreme radfem cult and there's extreme conservatives that want to get rid of said radfem cult, but are doing shitty things themselves. I will say this much that I wholly disagree with both ends and I believe there are better ways to go about this.

Yoon vowed to abolish the woman & family ministry yet he hasn't managed to do it because he's quite incompetent at his job. He had very little political experience prior to his presidential run, only being chief prosecutor of the supreme court for a few years. There's a reason why people call him Korean Trump.

They love a dictatorship. Of all the yellow people, they are the most buglike, even the Chinks have a small spark of humanity left. Worst Korea is an insane asylum, it's difficult to really understand unless you've had to spend time there.
My biggest experience with Korea was back when I was doing a theology degree (back when I did things like that for fun). There was a korean chap on the course with me, who had presumably moved here for "economic" reasons, who spent most of the entire year I knew him trying to get me into a Korean multi-level marketing scheme, which apparently involved selling lexus-branded merchandise at inflated prices. The big selling point of it, as far as I could tell, was that if you sold enough merch you would get to meet the president of Lexus. He was mad keen on achieving this goal and seemed quite put out when nobody was interested in buying his weird lexus-branded shirts. Seemed to hold the Lexus president in the same sort of esteem that other people might have for a super star, or jesus. Why Lexus? I have no idea. It's not even Korean.

I am not familiar with the South Korean identity and will to protest but we may see huge swarms of the public in Seoul amass into demonstrations for Yoons resignation to step down. His wife fucked it over for him these recent weeks also. There are two options, he leaves or he stays citing every dictators favorite reason "national security concerns/infilitration"

*Edit*

Per my last post, another picture of more APCs rolling out onto the streets to observe and enforce Martial law

Yoon is comically unpopular. He also has no idea what the fuck he's doing, so the parliament, controlled by the Democrats, have largely just resigned themselves to passive resistance by sitting on their hands and refusing to do anything. Recently, however, they served a bunch of impeachment papers to Yoon and his cabinet.
You could say the same thing about Trump and his sham bullshit impeachments though. It isn’t a metric of anything.

If he’s been hamstrung by the far left schizos then I don’t see why him declaring martial law is a bad thing. Traitors have to get purged. His faction might not be the best, and seem as corrupt as they come from the posts here, but if the alternative is the radfem far left cultists then I don’t see any other alternative personally.

If anything Trump needs to be more like the American Yoon and declare martial law as well.

Do you call it a coup even when it's the current government that is forcefully taking the power?

No, that's not what we're dealing with. The charges are legit. Moreover, this isn't a "wow look half the country hates him" thing with US presidents. Depending on the poll you use, Yoon's approval rate is in the twenties. Dude is pretty widely hated. Even the head of his own party has called Yoon a retard and has said he'll work with the Democrats to end the martial law shit.

This isn't US politics. Don't assume things are in any way similar.
