KR South Korean president declares emergency martial law, accusing opposition of anti-state activities

Article | Archive

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared an “emergency martial law,” Tuesday accusing the country’s opposition of controlling the parliament, sympathizing with North Korea and paralyzing the government with anti-state activities.

Yoon made the announcement during a televised briefing. He declared the step as critical for defending the country’s constitutional order. It wasn’t immediately clear how the steps would affect the country’s governance and democracy.

Yoon since taking office in 2022 had struggled to push his agendas against an opposition-controlled parliament.

If he’s been hamstrung by the far left schizos then I don’t see why him declaring martial law is a bad thing. Traitors have to get purged. His faction might not be the best, and seem as corrupt as they come from the posts here, but if the alternative is the radfem far left cultists then I don’t see any other alternative personally.

If anything Trump needs to be more like the American Yoon and declare martial law as well.
We're going to have to see how he deals with this. Either he completely shits the bed and actually gets impeached, lending way to the leftie and pro-feminist Democrats to take over, or he's going to actually solve this problem in a calm and steady manner.

I am more interested in what course of action China, NK and USA is going take.

South Korea had a dictatorship before and none of those states acted differently. As the for US Military in Korea they'll likely stay out of domestic affairs as they did during the Coup attempt in Turkey a few years back.

No, that's not what we're dealing with. The charges are legit. Moreover, this isn't a "wow look half the country hates him" thing with US presidents. Depending on the poll you use, Yoon's approval rate is in the twenties. Dude is pretty widely hated. Even the head of his own party has called Yoon a retard and has said he'll work with the Democrats to end the martial law shit.

This isn't US politics. Don't assume things are in any way similar.
If his own party is willing to work with far-left feminist cultists over his own President, then doesn’t that indicate that Yoon might be right, even if he is corrupt and incompetent.

Hopefully he does.

Can't they space this out a bit? Nobody has time to follow all things at once.

The thing is. Countries that have an ongoing internal crisis are more prone to being invaded. It could be the case of "nothing ever happens" again, but the chances of something happening from the outside aren't zero.

Merry Christmas everyone <3

Is this fucking necessary? Just seems like an excuse to quite literally pull out the big guns lol.

Anyway, helicopter autists, feel free to identify these if you can.

Those are likely Blackhawks.

APCs have also started appearing in Gangnam, and the parliament is fully locked down so that no one can enter.

So is he less popular than the true rightful ruler of Korea, Kim?

You do realize that this is more or less how most pozzed dictatorships in history came about?
I can understand where you're coming from, but at the same time it rarely ends well.
Most Korean dishes are good. I'd recommend bibimbap.
I've grown rather intrigued by Korean cuisine due to my reading over the years, yet to try anything though. I'll have to cook something at some point, it all looks rather tasty.

UH-60 with fuel tanks installed. Likely Korean as the nearby US base has been shut down for years.
