Even as far back as the early 2000s they had a reputation for buying studios and killing them. RIP Bullfrog and Westwood. But back then they still occasionally put out games people liked. I'll always have a soft spot for Freedom Fighters, but games like Burnout, C&C Generals, and the entire EA Sports Big series are fondly remembered. Now we don't even get that.

to be fair, not all of them were messed up on purpose. you really wanna tell me EA went to bioware and told them for the last ten years "just go full retard, we don't want you to make another good game"? more often than not it's the studios having enough leeway to fuck shit up on their own, either directly or indirectly. molyneux literally said as much about the effect of them dropping wads of cash with nothing more than "make us another blockbuster" and how it completely stalled any meaningful development since there were not limits anymore.

The funniest thing about this revelation is the implication nobody realised because absolutely no one plays the women teams in FIFA lol.
What I remember is it being a rare case of Sony being based because used games like RE5 Gold had all DLC on-disc but on 360 you had to pay for a new code. Thinking about it though this was possibly due to Blu-Rays having the storage capacity, because SFxTekken still shipped with on-disc DLC you had to buy.
I legit feel a little sorry for Phil Spencer, even though I probably shouldn't. He seems like the only person at Xbox who isn't a total NPC and actually likes games, but he can't fix the sinking ship because they already lost the most important console generation with the Xbone.
