UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot outside Hilton hotel in Midtown in targeted attack: cops - Just Part and Parcel of visiting a Big City

I'm not a hamburger myself but I have noted that a large problem in america seems to be mentally ill people who can't get treatment and are just left on the street. If health insurance companies went away and healthcare was just paid for by taxes, wouldn't that go some way in helping to solve the homeless issue and also stop mentally ill people from roaming around freely?

I know Nixon or someone shuttered the mental institutions which had at least part to do with this.
We had that but the courts said crazy people have a right to be crazy and the feds and states all slashed mental health budgets to the bone 40 years ago. Now the overworked psych docs just give them pills and hope for the best because that's all they can do unless they are an outright threat to themselves or others. And that's before we get into the handful of available beds being taken up by junkies playing the system until their next welfare checks show up.

What's more interesting to me is how effectively the guy was able to go about this with the cards he was given, he cleared that jam like it was nothing. that's impressive to me, and frankly says way more about the dude than whatever disposable firearm he could get his hands on.
It says to me at least he practiced enough with it to know it was a issue that was going to happen. He didn't act surprised in the video in the slightest. He knew his kit was faulty. He was banking on surprise and landing the first shot to give him time to get follow ups

Don't know if its been posted already tho.
Yeah, it's a tragedy for his family and all that
Nah, I've had the displeasure of being around the kids of people like this and they are all A-grade cunts. Besides most hate their parents so I doubt they'll care.
This is true of many judges and politicians as well. Some get protection but most dont.
There's simply not enough protection, not enough cops for every piece of shit upper echelon asshole.
If you wonder why inner city judges give gang bangers joke sentences sometimes thats one of the reasons.
Those judges are exactly the kind that have surveillance 24/7 and gangbangers know better than to fuck with them because if they do its not the cops but the feds going after them, and they'll get "accidentally" shot in the process for sure.
If you wanted to blow away the entire city council of a major city. Nothing is stopping you except will.
Doing bombs its way more difficult, let alone placing them. Breivik who is possibly the most elaborate mass shooter yet failed at this.
These are "solvent traps" and I've personally seen them at gunshows where they go for a $50 bill and a firm handshake.

I don't know. I don't like seeing anyone die. I bet a lot of gamers on here would pretty upset if Gaben got shot. Maybe people should have more value for human life but that's a pretty bold ask nowadays I guess.
Gaben runs a private company that does right by its customers and as a consequence has loyal customers (despite many alternatives) and makes tons of dosh. This scumbag runs a public company that makes money extorting people (personal healthcare is prohibitively expensive so if your work has united health care you effectively have no choice) and then makes MORE money by denying coverage and killing people.

These are not the same. I would be upset if Gaben got shot. I smiled when I read this. Were I on the jury we would not convict. I am righteous in doing so and I will not be shamed for it. If you supposedly care so much about human life you would also be celebrating given it's the CEO of united health care.

That's what is so amazing. I haven't seen but a few people anywhere upset that this guy got clipped. Yeah, it's a tragedy for his family and all that, but if there is ever someone who has it coming, it's the CEO of a medical insurance company and everyone from the hardcore Communist to the most Capitalist of Capitalists in the US are all in agreement that he earned it.
Eat the rich, all that jazz.

Plus murdering someone who are complete strangers are one of the hardest to solve.
Ding ding ding! Most easily solved murders are committed by someone with a clear personal motivation and relation to the victim, it’s simply a matter of finding the incriminating evidence to accuse one of the suspects beyond a reasonable doubt. In this case, while it’s fairly easy to surmise a motivation, the list of potential suspects runs in at least the tens of thousands, if we’re being conservative. If he isn’t caught within the next couple of days, he’s getting away with it, at least for the next couple of decades.

I mean even leaving mental health out of the equation I have heard anecdotes that most americans live paycheck to paycheck and are only one medical emergency away from either dying or being turbofucked with medical debt for life.
I can't imagine that the profits of some faggy health insurance companies are a good for society vs just doing "free" healthcare and giving people some actual peace of mind when they're having the worst time of their life with some sort of medical crisis.

I've heard so many stories about people getting charged thousands for ambulances and all sorts of retarded shit as well as all of the "creative account" (read: bullshit) that insurance companies and pharma companies use to fuck people over.

From what I understand if you're unemployed or don't have health insurance in america you are pretty much fucked. I can only imagine the number of people who delay health procedures and treatments that would meaningfully improve their quality of life and make them better able to participate in society or take care of their children because of how retarded the costs are.

In my own personal case I have had extreme healthcare costs but insurance have been total faggots. It has cost me huge amounts of personal time and money and I don't even live in the USA. Health insurance companies globally I think are all just extremely homosexual.

I study/work in health policy so I heard a bit of the insider chatter this morning. I was a bit confused, because Brian Thompson isn't UHG's top guy. UHG has two divisions, health insurance and healthcare. Thompson is the CEO of the insurance guys, but the actual #1 guy of everything is Sir Andrew Witty. Yes, he's actually an knight. I was confused when I saw the company wide email from Witty and I thought "wait I thought you died??!"
Is this the company whose CEO was recently called a "health terrorist" by Congress, or a different one?

UnitedHealth uses AI model with 90% error rate to deny care, lawsuit alleges (archive)
No thats Steward Health. That AI lawsuit is UHG though.
Well, my, my, my....

Let me guess, Midtown Manhattan is MAGA Country now?
IMHO, more coincidence than conspiracy. UHG is headquartered in Minnesota of all places.
Don't want it, don't buy it? Well the US government at the very least has demonstrated it's willing to penalize you out the ass for 'choosing' not to purchase a product you didn't ask for (read: be too poor to afford it, then be penalized for being too poor).
Fortunately, Obamacare's individual mandate was eliminated by President Donald Trump in 2017, but the employer mandate is still in effect.

At times over the years believe UHC has managed one of the two national Tricare contracts, West and East, believe they managed ours in the West for a few years. This may not be common knowledge but companies compete with the military to manage these contracts, so there must be a lot of money in it for the companies. We've been pretty well taken care of over the last 25 years or so, no complaints.

It's been said that the American health care system is broken. If the American health care system was truly broken I likely wouldn't be here typing this. The system has its' problems but it works. Wouldn't want to get my medical care anywhere else, and this is from someone who has been through a good deal of major-league medical shit over the past 15 years.
Coming from a strictly coverage perspective and not quality of care, Tricare is pretty damn good all things considered.
Using AI to streamline more denials of coverage is pretty fucked up.
I've seen that program in action, it's some pretty advanced shit, they have data going back decades. It's called InterQual. Although I think the headlines are being a bit misleading. The computer isn't doing the denial. It shows "evidence-based clinical analytics" (their words not mine) to a medical director (i.e physician) who approves/denies. The laws are pretty strict, only a physician can approve/deny coverage, because providers have a right to an appeal and talk to that director (its called a peer to peer). Although I do know for certain procedures and maybe certain states a mid-level provider can approve, but not deny. Jury is still out on if UHG must award damages though.

Gaben also isn't nesicary for literal life and death. It's just games. Not getting a kidney transplant. Not many people would be angry enough to attack him even if he fucked up.

For the sake of your sanity, keep the schadenfreude reserved for the morally bankrupt CEO. It's not the asshole's kids' fault he was an asshole.

I work with UHC people all the time. They acted like this didn't happen today, no one cares at ground level.
Back when I was adjusting liability claims, some dude pulled into our total loss unit because it was a small shitty TPA and punched one of the adjusters there in the face, so we all tackled that nigga while a bunch of fat white woman were screaming nonstop for the police. After that, we all got together and did what everyone did after work on Friday, get blackout drunk and complain about insane claimants and the work load. The dude who got punched didn’t take the day off because he was running hot on a few claims despite management advising him to go home for the day.

UHC insurance guys probably just excited they might get a day off or a few minutes off the phone to do some security training. Every insurance job sucks and is soul crushing, and hearing about some CEO you never met? Pffff~ fuck that nigga. These lawyers are crawling up ass with time limit demands and this stupid faggot I keep trying to send a release to keeps stating his needs one more spinal fusion for a 5 mile per hour collision in a parking lot.

HA! The only surprising thing about this is it didn't happen sooner!

Anyone that has been the victim of UnitedHealthcare (UHC) or has had the bad fortune to have to deal with this miserable fucks as a healthcare provider with a critical patient knows exactly what I am talking about.

The cretinous cocksuckers at UHC have been reaping major profits for years, wielding their large market share like a sledgehammer, to provide the lowest quality healthcare they legally can get away with to their members. At the same time they have been face fucking the providers of that care so hard that it has forced the closure of essential healthcare providers like ERs, and even entire hospitals, where they have a large numbers of members.

UHC couldn't possibly care less about human beings, either their members or the people providing care to them, all they have ever seen is numbers. I am glad I am alive to see at least one of the major benefactors of their healthcare terrorism get what he had coming to him.

May he rest in piss, and burn in hell.

I pray that bodies of the UHC c-suite continues to hit the floor and whoever shot this guy keeps it up.

He is providing the best Christmas present he possibly could to us.

Even if that weren't the case, Gaben in 2004 literally kept Erik Wolpal (who eventually went on to write Half Life 2/E1+2, TF2, Portal, L4D, Portal 2, Artifact, Alyx etc) on payroll when he was sick with the mandate of "Your job is to get better":
In 2004, Wolpaw was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Expecting his condition to require a departure from the company, he spoke with managing director Gabe Newell, who surprised him by offering an extended leave with pay. "Your job is to get better," Newell said. "That is your job description at Valve. So go home to your wife and come back when you are better."
And keep in mind this was before he even worked on most of the major games that he did.

Gabe Newell is literally the furthest thing from being a cutthroat health insurance CEO possible.

and this stupid faggot I keep trying to send a release to keeps stating his needs one more spinal fusion for a 5 mile per hour collision in a parking lot.
I feel there's a story there, how do you get a broken spine from a car going that slow?
