The thing that I've been fucked over by is that whether or not the health insurance companies own pharmacies, they are in cahoots with the pharmaceutical companies. So any medicine that is new will have a super high artificial price and when you're on insurance they don't actually pay that amount or anywhere near it usually - it's bullshit and scammy accounting.
So when the insurance company is like "we're not covering this" you go "ok cool faggots i'll just pay it myself" and that's when you see the charges for like $300 for aspirin and all the other retarded shit.
It's a complete and utter scam from start to finish. There are of course some medications that are expensive because they cost a lot for research and development which is a bit understandable but for everything else they just inflate the prices massively and do a whole bunch of creative accounting to mask what is actually going on.
