Speedrunning Thread (Take 2) - GOTTA GO FAST

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
If it takes 11 hours to beat a game then it's not a speedrun. I don't give a shit if that's the minimum time possible for a long ass RPG, it's not a speedrun.

If you need to sit your ass for more than 1 hour to beat a fucking game you're not speeding shit up my man. It's a slow as fuck run.

A speedrun is about how long it takes relative to playing normally. Is an 8 hour run boring as hell to watch? Yes. But if the game normally takes 30+ hours to finish, it's still a considerable accomplishment, provided something went into it besides just skipping cutscenes.
Even turn-based RPG speedruns that seem excruciatingly boring to watch, let alone play, often have cool tricks to bypass large parts of the game.
They have their audience like any speedruns do. I see no reason to shit on it if I'm not forced to watch it.

Was watching this new video by Karl Jobst on a Russian youtuber stealing speedrun history videos.
But I'm not interested in that, what caught me off guard was the fact that he called another Speedrun history youtuber Storster "she/her".
Just as a sample, this is what "she" sounds like:
I know youtubers have to stick to this shit or else they'll get demonetized, but for FUCK'S sake man... how can anyone who listens to that voice and think "yeah that's a stunning and brave woman right there, I'll respect xer pronouns", clown world needs to end this shit bro, fml :lossmanjack:

When I saw this I actually wanted to bring up a post I made in the OSRS thread. Had a random tangent about this Storster dude cuz I saw his content and was utterly repulsed.


Apologies for no crossposting, Im an ugly mix of phonefag AND newfag so I don't know how to do it. So I just copypasted it from my post lol

I was thinking of doing a post on Storster, a speedrunning youtuber I used to watch in the background who trooned out, me only finding out through his comments talking about how HECKING AMAZING HIS VOICE TRAINING IS (I had to go back and watch their old vids, their voice did go up a tiny bit, but they still sound like a man, just a slightly less manly sounding man lol)

His new voice, if you care. I didn't watch this whole vid because I was repulsed by them being a tranny but apparently it's terrible and has a bunch of random angry rants broke in.

The comments are a real treat though. Seems like a lot of them were buried by comments about the actual video but if you search "voice" you can find a few gems, these were tops back when the vid came out.

Storster is going by she/her now? I remember earlier this year (or late last year I can't remember) he said he preferred they/them, which naturally is just the first baby steps into going full troon. I used to use his videos as idle background noise but the second he claimed nonbinary shit I unsubscribed and set my YouTube account to not recommend videos from his channel anymore.

I really hope Retro Game Mechanics Explained doesn't troon out. He already did a major online presence shift when he abandoned his speedrunning identity Dotsarecool and started posting as Iso Frieze complete with a blue cat furry avatar. Big user of Cohost too back when that website was alive. Guy is absolute borderline I swear. If he does tuck his dick between his legs and put on a dress I won't be surprised though.

There's literally nothing feminine about this voice whatsoever. It sounds like every 20-something youtuber.

I heard and watched a few of Storster before a year or so back (which is why when I heard Karl call him a "she" it took me off guard), but what put me off from watching any future videos is when he made a video discussing the issue of Emulator usage in Speedrunning. Now from what I recall it essentially boiled down to the community on deciding if emulators are ok or split it in its own seperate catagory, but the way he went about breaking it down was to strawman the opponent who is against emulation, making them out to be super dumb and dimwitted as if they couldn't possibly comprehend why using emulators are preferred. It came off as super petty and childish to me that I never bothered looking further into his content then on. Now that he's trooned out, I can see that I definitely made the right call then.

I have mixed feelings on the Storster thing. I don't know the guy. Never heard of him. Like the rest of you I'm repulsed to know he trooned out like a lot of the speedrunning community. I don't care if people make disparaging comments under Karl's video.

However, I don't like to see people going after Storster to his own videos to make fun of him, solely because he was mentioned in Karl's video. Something's just doesn't feel right about that.

Rephrasing a scrip and seems pretty scummy to me, and honestly translating a video seems like it actually had more work put into it than storster's copy(not that ethier is okay) but anyways they seem pretty upset to be called out
