2024 Syrian opposition offensives - The first Syrian rebel offensive against Government forces since March 2020

Have you not read any segment of the thread where the leader of the HTS has been telling everyone to ignore the Christians, admonished some rebels for knocking down a Christmas tree, and ensuring the churches were allowed to stay open so worshippers could participate in a holy day?

This Julani guy appears to be smart. I say that because he’s recognizing that it’s a multicultural world, and to get bogged down in attacking his own people because they’re different would impede on the goal of taking the country. As it stands he has shown no intent to harm any Syrian who doesn’t stand in their way, even cutting deals to regime police and services who surrender to let them retain their jobs, pensions and positions into the new state. They have QR codes posted to allow citizens to get in touch with the community and local civil services being put up. This isn’t the playbook of terrorists marching across the country. It’s the actions of a force that want to commit legitimate change.

I’m willing to say wait and see on this. If Syria of all places manages to be the first modernized Islamic State who knows what other change might come about. The old generation of mujahideen are aging out, and now you’ve got these younger guys that are more aware of the modern world.
The Christian part of me wants to believe his former-captive turned bishop-friend got to his heart.
The more logical side of me believes he's doing this out of raw pragmatism.

Until then I approach with cautious but optimistic skepticism.
This is cope. If Assad was a halfway competent ruler he would not be in this mess. The simple truth is the Assad Regime has always been brutal, corrupt and unstable. As with the father, so with the son. It was always on borrowed time. If the Syrian Christians hitched their wagon to it then that is there own fault. If they are smart they will just as quickly unhitch it.
They did the same in Iraq.
Its kind of like "all are equal under the boot" where its better to have a repressive dictator who kills you only for acting up versus a radicalized majority who kill you for being a minority.
I do not blame Christians, or any other religions and/or ethnic minority for choosing repressive dictators over untrustworthy Allahu Ackhbars.

Now that being said, with current rebel leadership making it a point not to immediately Allahu Ackhbar chimp out and Assad currently proving he's just a weak puppet who can't protect you...

So many idiots keep forgetting that this is the era of 24/7 satellite surveillance. Any large body of men and/or materiel will be posted up on Twitter for everyone to see
Satellite pictures cost a fortune and some of the counting people said they recently made their terms worse (increased the minimum area you need to buy in a selected location and something else I forgot).
That's why OSINT and researchers only buy them reactively, like, an attack takes place and there's a reasonable expectation of damage, so someone opens their wallet and buys a picture of that specific place.

Also, the SAA did stand and fight in Hama. A number of them were even encircled north of the city.
It's that they lost the battle.

Clone, robot, or long-lost twin? Did Z grow out his beard and invade Syria?
They're both made in the same secret CIA biolab.

They reportedly flew out some aircraft. I guess they didn't manage all of them. I wonder what they even have left at this point.
Comment:
Even the Syrian army has concrete shelters for planes...

Big, if true:
Russian forces leaving the Hmeimim base in Latakia and evacuating their S-300 and Tor-M1 air defense systems to the port of Tartous.

EDIT:
S-400 and Tor-M2 air defense systems of the Russian army were spotted moving near the city of Masyaf on the border of Hama province and the mountain range of Tartus province.

A battery of Russian S-400 Triumph air defense systems was deployed in the area of the city of Masyaf back in 2017 to cover the Khmeimim airbase from the mountain range.

Now, in connection with the capture of Hama, the proximity of the militants and the danger of their further advance towards the coast, it was decided to relocate the Russian air defense systems deployed here either to Khmeimim itself or to Tartus.

Scaling governance will be a challenge:
HTS’s Ministry of Interior is opening registration for its Police College course for new recruits.

Trusting extremists claims that they won't engage in extremist activities is a foolish decision. The Taliban claimed they wouldn't do all sorts of things if they retook Afghanistan, like preventing women from doing any education, and then proceeded to do said things shortly after taking over.
I guarantee that if this rebranded al-Nursa front succeeds in taking over Syria, they'll immediately go full jihad and start persecuting their (non-Jewish) religious minorities.

Druze and Arabs have pretty much taken over Suwayda, freed the mostly political prisoners at the big prison there

By next Friday there is somehow a real chance that Assad will control nothing but a rump state around Damascus and the Tartus-Latakia coastal governates

With respect to Israel specifically, I really don't see HTS making nice with the Jews, even though it could be incredibly beneficial for the stability of their rule. If they were to recognize the Israeli annexation of the Golan and move to establish normal diplomatic and trade ties the Israelis would recognize their government immediately, which would probably cause the rest of the world to follow along as well. Normal ties with Israel would also help reverse the economic collapse of the country and possibly give them a similar water deal the Jordanians enjoy. Which would be Yuge.

Sadly as many have pointed out they are Muslim fundamentalists at core, and they would rather suffer with dignity.

Assad is still winning.
He's winning in my oomfie ESL-welcome Discord war room for the multipolar Axis of Resistance, where all nationalisms are represented (except for the white ones, westoids), where fanfics written by a Cirno avatar Twitter nonce of atom clouds courtesy of the Hohols and paradrops of T-I-G-E-R-S liberating Hama are shared and consumed by true trad Zisters.

If the absolute ballwashing ISIS gave Israel is anything to go by, where they accidently hit Israel once then immediately apologized, HTS will probably worship them as much as the US does. Islamist terror organizations seem to do a pretty good job at attacking everyone BUT the one group actively persecuting Muslims for some reason.

Don't use this thread to start shit with other users.

Erdogan, like the rest of Europe, fears any further conflict which could push another wave of refugees into his country. On the other hand, a stabilized Syria is needed for repatriating the millions of Syrians living within Turkey. Seems Erdogan will try arguing for a political solution again between the rebels and Assad.

Muslims persecute Muslims more so than anybody else.
This is definitely true. For example, take our resident Assadist, one Feline Supremacist. She is a single-mother, once divorced, living in a nice neighborhood somewhere in New York City. She's been engaged in an unrequited parasocial relationship with the Russian Federation ever since studying russian back in college. Simply wanting one's favored side to win owing to the usual personal or realpolitik considerations isn't enough for her. She's announced time and again in many ways she takes joy in watching men, whom she's never met, dying knee deep in muddy trenches. Of course, she herself runs no risk of harm regardless whether any foreign country wins or loses some war.

I have no clue why she's still single.

For the Russian side, "supports" is a bit of a strong term.

to tl;dr: Arabs are garbage at war. Turks, a strain of Arab, are slightly less garbage than the average Arab and the Kurds, a sub-species of Turk, are the cleanest end of the Arab-Turkic Warrior Turd by a fair margin in that they are actually competent fighters but usually lack,

I hate to say this and knowing you'll call me roach, but, first, Turks were the guys that had the w*stoids shitting themselves around Vienna until the Kurwas came like Rohirrim with meth-laden pierogis. Westernmost Turks are a mutt species between Asiatic strain, we are le56% Anatolian, Islamized Greeks, Yörük (basically asian nomad OG Turks from 700's), Kurdish and Armenian mix added as well. You an literally never tell who a Turk is by appearance. Think "Scythians" and "Messagatae" from Roman era, each description varied wildly.

Saladin's brothers are Tuğtekin and Turanshah. Exclusively Turkish/Persian names.

The myth that Saladin is Kurdish is a revent neocon invention to give Kurds their own mythomania whenever Langley needs new "my bestest ally"

If you ask me, we will never know. Back those days, nobody gave tho shits who your tribe was, people changed nationalities into "wewuz" grade like changing tshirts everyday as long as you were Muslim.

Also as for "muh great Kurdish warrior", Kurds were little more than hillmen in Zagros mountains until CUP, to supplant Armenians with something less christfaggy, empowered K*rds, Many Ottoman sultans got complaints from Armenians about robbery and girl kidnappings by Kurds, and the 1915 when absolutely nothing happened Kurds took over the homes and wealth of Armenians who died suddenly.

Google Hamidiyyah Brigades.
