We're not talking about building a set though. Somebody had to design a copy of the set, build that copy, install it in a hotel conference room, and take it back down inside of what 10-14 days? Time is money. Anybody working that kind of timetable can ask for 500% and get it.

The insane part is spending $100k on a knockoff temporary set, just so your people can control every aspect of what was already going to be friendly propaganda interview.

Some big problems with that. Staking someone out anonymously and finding out where they are just isn't that hard, especially someone like this. And if I was going to fake a killing like that, I'd make sure it was something higher caliber and a close head shot, that first one to looked pretty painful.

It's possible they do have DNA by now though, which even if you aren't technically in the system, you probably are tracible. Any close-medium relatives that ever did a 23andme or ancestory.com 'find out how black/Jew you are' is in the databases and linked. They only rarely admit that though publicly, the only time I remember it was the Golden State Killer that was openly talked about.

ETA I'm surprised there aren't more revenge killings in general. Most of them are over money, hired hits by women to kill their Ex's or current husbands and so on instead of a divorce and only getting half. It's not that hard to find a DA, judge, cop, or whatever that ruined you wrongly but you just never see that done often.

Not even Valve would do that.

Remember, Valve had a system for trading/gifting games that was simple and easy. They removed it.

Even Valve wants you to buy games at the price they set.

I am willing to admit that was a lawsuit waiting to happen. Valve takes a small cut of every sale on its platform, they make millions off of the $.01 fee on trading card sales. So moving games around like that while only Valve gets the money? (remember the game has already been sold, so no more cash for the developers) That is a lawsuit from hell right there.

Certainly the current PTB are addicted to pulling levers everytime they run into a problem when they should leave well enough alone, but at the same time libertarian economics will eventually drift into the same pitfalls a libertarian social and cultural policy will due to its ideological insistence on certain aspects of human nature that are incorrect. The economy being an extension of human society will exhibit the foibles of man as it does not exist outside him. It is possible to see the weaknesses of a laissez-faire approach and attempt to account for them when needed, and for that matter, vice versa. Pragmatism is necessary. And yes, I am aware of the deep irony that I'm advocating that when my handle invokes probably the least pragmatic social thinker of the modern era.
I don't know about other libertarian ideologies, but part of Hoppean philosophy is that property rights necessitates discrimination and exclusion as mediating factors of society. The inability to associate or disassociate breaks social cohesion so people should be free to associate and disassociate as they see fit. If you see a libertarian espouse these sort of live and let live ideas while defending the Civil Rights Act, they are intellectually dishonest. Furthermore, statism always trends towards people incentivized towards high time preference behavior which amounts to anti-social and decivilizing behavior only kept in check by the barrel of the State's Gun. The second the state's gun isn't pointed, these people who've been trained towards a high time preference unlesh their pent up behaviors and thus arises Weimar problems. The sort of insanity we saw at the peak of Weimar was already happening in parts of Germany during the dying days of the First World War.

Furthermore, prior to the Progressive Era, the market was left to its devices and the captains of industries were started to face losses in the market, J.P Morgan went through several bank failures for example. Most interventionist policies weren't to fix the morality of the capitalist, it was regulatory capture by creating barriers of entry only people like Morgan could afford. Furthermore Welfare was basically relegated to morally and operationally superior fraternal organizations that were basically better than state interventions in every single way beyond the nonsensical ideal of "equality" (Which is something to be shunned and despised as a goal for society in the first place). People were moral, they were exclusionary, they relied on their church for social teaching and their local fraternity for welfare. It was the state and progressives, led by postmillenial pietists, who created the conditions for social degeneracy in the first place.

Inflating the membership roles of evil organizations like the Freemasons or the literal KKK (that's why they had millions of members in the 1920s) isn't morally superior at all.

Clearly you haven't seen enough countries that call themselves a "democracy" then.

People have forgotten that a democracy is when people vote on anything. The USSR was technically a democracy because you could vote. That's why there is no such thing as a pure democracy on planet Earth because it's just mob rule. That's why every democracy has checks and balances, America has the electoral college and Britain has a parliamentary system for example. Very few things enrage me more than the "sacred democracy" crowd.

The last pure democracy that I'm aware of was Ancient Athens and they committed the first genocide in recorded history.
