I like the idea of savior votes instead of elimination votes. Each fish gets (# of remaining Fish - immunities, -1) votes, and the person who gets the least number of votes win. It should also be a "secret" rule that the fish can cast all their savior votes on one person if they so desire; just don't explicitly point it out, and see if anyone thinks of it. Challenges are for cash, prizes, or immunity.

It's brilliant in a "preserving content" way, but I really don't want the show to be compelled to have fish that could understand this relatively easy, albeit non-standard voting system.

Keep it simple, keep em dumb.
It's not that hard to understand. They vote for people they don't like, then the audience votes to save who we like.

Why does all the theorycrafting about eliminations go back to voting with you people? Democracy is gay and retarded and especially for a show like Fishtank.
Voting is the fast track to nontent and friendtank because people who create conflict get voted off. Conflict is good to the audience and bad to the contestants.
It should be challenge-based like Naked & Afraid’s competitive seasons. Fishtank is also a survival show of sorts and challenges are already a part of it.
This way eliminations are completely skill-based (but can still be rigged if needed) and there’s no penalty for being a shit stirrer.
The only bonus I’ve seen from voting is the absolute kino of Alex dreadfully snatching his glasses off his face during the first elimination.
You say democracy is fake and gay, but then you want them to rig challenges in favor of the most liked contestants. You're going the long way to end up back where you were.

i like all the drama voting can bring but you have to leave some leeway. i like the idea of voting for immunity, or like voting to put the bottom 4 in an elimination challenge (that is subjective).
The night Ian was eliminated was really good for tension and one of the content peaks of the season imo. Gay Ben feeding Alex lines for the entire day while he confides in Burt about his fears about potentially going home was hilarious. And that's just with Alex. The idea of an elimination vote existing stirs the Fish and gets them scheming. It's a big reason why Simbal felt like an antagonist as well. Candy theft was done in order to gain immunity to avoid the upcoming elimination, and a lot of the content during the candy arc kept the audience very engaged.

The problem is when the act of elimination occurs. Kicking a Fish off immediately removes any potential content that would have resulted from them in the future. Production needs to be 100% positive that the short-term content gained from the elimination is more than the content that Fish would have made in the long-term. This works with Fish like Ian or Mauro from S2.5, but it's really difficult to do with even slightly below-average Fish.

Having the fish nominate three people, then having the audience vote-to-save two of the three works on multiple levels;
You get people "playing the game", but they ultimately have no power as the audience has the final say.
Shit stirrers might get nominated, but rarely, if ever, get eliminated. This also serves as a feedback loop for the fish; if the shit stirrer keeps getting saved by the audience every time it sends a clear message.
With this voting setup Fish will also be hesitant to go after fan favorites (shit stirrers) because they know it hurts them in audience votes.

On their discussion about the voting system; there's multiple ways to fix it.
  • You could have the fish nominate 3 people (top three people with most votes), but have audience decide on the elimination. You get the benefit of people "playing the game", but not the downside of interesting people getting the boot (as long as the audience doesn't go full retard).
  • You can also have vote-to-save instead of vote-to-kick, which changes the dynamic.
  • Instead of 1 fish getting 1 vote, you can give them 3 point votes (2 points for their bigger threat, 1 point for the lesser threat), which further changes the dynamic.
  • You can even ban the discussion of voting completely, only let them discuss who they are voting for in the voting room (this has positives and negatives).
You can use all or any combination of these to make it so voting doesn't eliminate the most interesting people.
Audience votes people they find annoying, which are people that cause drama and make everyone go full tilt. Like say if Frank was actually a random fish, audience AND fish would have voted for him. Production should make the final calls on who goes every time.

That's why you have the audience vote-to-save. It changes the dynamic completely. People like Frank are never at the bottom in a vote-to-save scenario.

I found these videos particularly hilarious. In this one he spergs out because people keep calling him and asking if he's "real"
In the one below we actually his scam in action. He's on a zoom call with a client screensharing the test. Burt says "Let me just check my notes..." AND HE LOOKS UP THE QUESTION ON GOOGLE :story:(timestamped 9:28 )
