UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot outside Hilton hotel in Midtown in targeted attack: cops - Just Part and Parcel of visiting a Big City

While I understand why no one has sympathy for Thompson, I've decided that I can no longer celebrate his death. It's become clear to me that the health insurance bigwigs have learned the wrong lesson from this, and will now focus more on protecting themselves than helping people. They'll justify bonuses and pay raises by saying they need to pay for security. This is why violence is not the answer.
This makes no sense. That money has to come from somewhere. Either they pay for security out of pocket or it’s expensed by the company. Their stock is going down. If they charge higher premiums it adds fuel to the fire.

There's no way you aren't going to be spotted using something like that in the middle of NYC, silencer or no.
Then I guess my dad either must have been a very well adjusted sociopath or just very good at compartmentalizing when looking at grievous bodily injury.

I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I have a similar story of insurance trying to deny my mother cancer treatment because she was “too far gone” but it was successfully fought and she got the treatment. That was 30 years ago. She’s still alive. But according to the insurance, she was a lost cause.
I'm so happy yours survived, I used to be very bitter and angry every time I saw those donations for cancer treatments but thankfully I'm at peace with it, finally.

I'm sure you do it plenty but give your mom a hug for me please.

Those who excuse or celebrate Mr. Thompson’s killing reveal an ends-justify-the-means sentiment that is flatly inconsistent with stable democracy.

To repeat: Most Americans probably reject this kind of thinking.
LMAO @ how wapo is trying to steer this shit. Just a bit of priming combined with """"""""statistics""""""""
It's not black pill, he has a point. Being a CEO just requires experience in the field, connections and an MBA, maybe. They are easy to find and easy to replace, so unless the revolutionary spirit lights up in the heart of every American, things will continue business as usual. Valery Sablin (the dude who tried to start a new revolution in the USSR and is the basis for "The Hunt for The Red October") thought revolution would occur but people don't do shit.

I like heroes and romantic ideals as much as the next guy, but pragmatism is also important, and my chips are in "You won't do shit, this was a one off" regarding America. The corporate devouring of the country will continue.
If only his word had been headed, but alas the Soviet Union marches on.....

They still have no idea who this guy is. It’s the 5th day and they released two pics of a random guy in a mask in a cab. If they knew his name they would release it by now. The NYPD trying to save face cause this has also been downright embarrassing for them.

Which is worse: capitalism dying or humanity dying?
Humanity - Composed of only the elderly, cancer victims, and fat black diabetic retards. It makes you think about morals and ethics and shit. Would the world be better if only the strong survived and we culled the weak? This really conflicts with my online bullying obsession and whether America and the medical industry should even give people like MovieBob life-giving diabetes medication.

Think about it, would legit killing the retarded and chronically ill be a good thing? I mean, I know I would be killed, and you would be, like, triple murdered because you have cancer-inducing genes probably in your blood- But so would countless lolcows, which provide humor to the world. But would humanity be better for it? Really makes you think about the universe and good and evil and tons of gay stupid shit like that.

Personally, I think we should just do medical care on a case-by-case basis and have a popular vote if you do not deserve it. Maybe we should have some kind of markers or items that people can have that judge their worth in society. I don't wanna say money, so maybe something like internet forum stickers and ratings? Just a thought.

Cops keep making it dramatic. Be like "WE KNOW WHERE HE IS! THE NET IS CLOSING! THE CAGE IS COMING DOWN! THE CHEESE TRAP HAS BEEN SET! MWUAHAHAH!" yet somehow nothing ever happens.

You gotta feel bad for the NYPD being so incompetent and stupid. In Chicago, these cops would have killed like ten people already who looked like this nigga by accident and caught him like two hours after doing so.

Increasing security won't really make the stock price magically go higher - all they can do is deny more claims to increase the value of the stock more (but not necessarily the market price).
It certainly seems like, or at least I am optimistic that they will have to address the elephant in the room along with the rest of their industry - their business model bankrupts, destroys the lives of and kills a disproportionate amount of people.

So is the NYPD just going to be questioning every vaguely white guy with a mask and a hoodie? In every photo they’ve released the coat is different.
If so, now the NYPD can have a case against racial profiling.

A heavily regulated industry where people can’t even change their provider more than once a year if at all isn’t capitalism you fucking numbskull.
You know shit's serious when George Lucas, who likes the troll threads on KF, can't bring himself to troll this one. Lol.

The CEOs are gonna learn that the big shareholders don't really give a shit if they die too.

I think when it comes to CEO security, the big shareholders are more concerned about kidnapping and ransom. Because that can cost a lot money they'd have to pay, or take a big PR hit.

Whereas if the their guy gets gunned down, they'll just fetch another from the cloning tank. The people that actually own UHC don't give a shit about Brian. He's replaceable.

Or they could make smart business moves regarding investments, innovations, and better products and services.
They could do that and massively lower the cost of treatment. But then they could look at that lower cost of treatment and work out they'd make even more profit by increasing their markup and continuing to charge the same and continuing to deny coverage to people whose lives would have been saved.

Only my urban ghoul friends who work in, surprise, health or finance.
Ice a crip? Even if other crips hate that nigga, it’s one of their own. They will kill you.

@High-Fructose Corn Syrup if anyone ices you, I’ll avenge you nigga. We swore an oath in blood on the streets of the farms that all troons need to be mocked and I’ll see you at the cross roads eventually, ya little weird ass nigga.

If you shoot someone in the back you're massive fucking coward and bitch.

Would that make one a bigger coward and bitch than having some AI program deny lifesaving care, and then sending that soul crushing news to the parent of a sick toddler over an e-mail?

I’m just going to say it. I see almost everyone exclusively blaming the CEO’s. If you wake up everyday and CHOOSE to go into work for evil corporate overlords, collect your miserly pittance, that nowadays isn’t even enough to buy your family a nice steak dinner out once a week and a yearly vacation, you’re part of the problem.

There has to be a point where doing the right thing, having pride in yourself, living the morals you espouse, is worth more than making a barely livable wage and existing on your knees, sucking evil corporate cock.

Do you guys know anyone in real life that is upset about the murder? All my friends and family agree the fucker deserved it
None, talked it for a bit with a cardiologist friend and he wasn't surprised about the consensus there. From what he says most doctor don't really worry about it being a trend and turning dangerous for them, Might be different for other specialties, i personally wouldn't mind an Aiden going after her endocrinologist or srs butcher
