Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

I thought based on the description that The Do-Over Damsel Conquers the Dragon Emperor would be sorta like Tearmoon Empire, and it is pretty similar (girl goes back in time to resolve what leads to her death), but it's much messier. Kinda disappointed because it had more potential.

The story is kinda all over the place, and the directing makes events unclear and choppy at times, plus there's the inappropriate romance which they try to portray as "cute", but even if you think that, in episode 9 the dude is about to literally snap her neck because he felt betrayed over something dumb. It's not even a remotely justified reaction, but the show plays it off like it was understandable, and they're lovey-dovey a moment later, so that should shatter any positive views about them being together.

Is there any better anime more like Tearmoon Saga? Like historical figure gets sent to the past after dying and gets to alter history, sort of light hearted/comedic.

Trash bag do not deserve any views, so archive this. TL;DR: basically any old twitter fags complaints about the show are in this video.

Before that I'm gonna ask you. Do you even watch OP? Or is it just because this video explodes on twitter? Nearly 2 mil views by the time of this post, meanwhile the video only 121k views.
Do you even watch entire video? Since you only write "Accurate". I guess you agree all of this trash opinions then. Including these.
Zoro swordmanship is dumb.

Nami gets more girls, censored sub word is "pussies". Totally not some form of fetish from a male feminist. I thought you hate yuri gooners, or am I misremembering? Blackwash Vivi and Usopp even more. My bad One Piece is lacking diversity.
Main cast is boring except Robin.

Agree with this trash about pronouns? I guess you agreeing with this trash calling on Aya Nakahara (Lovely Complex) being transphobic. You have zero principles, willing to take side with trash just because shitting on weebs is fun.

Artstyle is sexist and gooners. Last but not least, the hottest and never ending debate for internet lovers, pedophiles.

Why don't you elaborate more of your opinion in the OP thread on here?

He's literally a lolcow as learned from his localisation antics just a while ago, I'm not surprised the video is garbage.

Read ~800 chapters and thought it was decent for about the first 400. Skypiea was when it peaked.

Not really -- Zoro is my favourite character not named Chopper -- but it's funny. It's just a joke; lighten up!

I wouldn't be surprised if there's yuri bait in some of the newer chapters. That seems to be a big trend in Japanese media now.

Someone's too autistic to take a joke, I see.

Who said I have to agree with everything in a video?

It does make sense, you might simply wanna re-read it, slowly and more carefully this time.
When you were shitting on Dandadan, I just thought "OK, different tastes", but then you defend the honor of fucking Bleach of all things. Just have a chug.
Code Geass remains relevant because it's peak insanity that flies off the cliff yet sticks the landing when lesser shows crumble at taking such chances. We call it KINO.
Code Geass was engaging as fuck and loved how the first season ended, but the second one I was pretty meh about. The ending kind of saved it all, but I come and go between thinking it was great and kind of retarded to play the "if I have all the hate and die, everyone will be fwiends!" gambit.
I was talking about Turn A in particular, and that's a nice place to start.
I love Turn A to death, but it's not a very Gundam Gundam for the most part. It's very chill and pastoral at a lot of points. I'd still recommend it, definitely, but Original Gundam, Gundam Seed or Gundam 00 seem closer to the ... "spirit?" of the franchise.
Again though, that's probably the weaker plot to the anime. Its really better looked at as a show about a family and a child growing into an adult with a sci-fi/mecha back drop.
I'm just fascinated that Eureka 7 and Code Geas are in a conversation about mecha anime when their mecha are just narrative excuses and very forgettable elements from both.
I picked up Princess Tutu again after maybe 6 years in order to really watch the entire show and I loved it. Now it makes me want to rewatch Utena. I feel that after all of those years I will like it more and understand more of the symbolism.
You can dislike Adolescence, but damn, this scene is so beautiful.
Oh wow, I tried watching it ages ago but didn't keep up with it. Utena I've never watched though.
I enjoy torturing myself every week by keeping up on Kengan Omega. It went from a pretty decent fighting manga to an absolute trainwreck. From a plot that has no idea where it's going and neither the writer, nor artist caring anymore. It's slowly transformed into a parody of what it originally started out as.
I enjoyed the original Kengan. The follow up series... I haven't read for a good number of months now but between the character revival and how it all seems such a convoluted mess, I'm in no hurry. It always felt like discount Baki to a degree anyway and I'm not super in love with Baki either after the first series.
I can't believe they forgot the best character for the collage.

Still going hard, but I still dread this
Hopefully this doesn't go like people are speculating, becoming a "xenophobia's bad, mm'kay?" lecture by the end.
being the endgame. Really depends on what the new character's deal is about when he finds them.

No, not a single time.

If Skypeia was your peak and not something like Enies Lobby or Marineford I got nothing. And this is coming from somebody that likes Skypeia.

You're right. They're typical "unlike most mecha this one is about the characters" shows (ev&oe tons of good mecha shows are about the characters). I guess the issue is that they don't focus enough on action, tech specs, and sci-fi worldbuilding. Even SEED, which is an absolute nightmare when it comes to tech specs, has great action (massive LOGH-style battles that really feel like a civilization of godlike energy beings having a war with each other) and, in Destiny and Freedom, uses the worldbuilding to make something that's both completely fantastical and is a decent social commentary with a great backstory. Original SEED, however, didn't really focus on its worldbuilding, to its detriment -- this is because it focused more on how people hate each other, while Destiny is about why people hate each other and Freedom is about how people can stop hating each other. I honestly believe Destiny's bad reputation is because of this shift from how to why -- the characters became treated like representations of ideals and concepts rather than actual humans, but that makes it all the cooler to me.

If the mecha aren't front and center like in Gundam, Macross, daibuster, Mazinger, Gaogaigar or Gurren Lagann y don't consider it mecha as such.

I very much remember the family aspect and conflict of growing up in Eureka 7, more or less remember the whole plant alien thing but couldn't tell you jack about what made the Nirvash special nor can I really remember any particular fight. It was just an element to move certain beats, but it could have been a talking car and not really affected the series much at all. Same with Code Geas.

The Nirvash is special because it's a car-airplane triple changer!
... I only remembered the plane and robot mode, that should tell you volumes you how little impact it had on me

As for this...most Gundam still have the robots front and center even if the soul is some variant of "war is hell". So I very much do consider these mecha anime.

Though the tone of each series is really jarring sometimes. I saw Destiny first and then Seed (you cannot imagine how confusing this was, specially when our lords and saviors Saint Kira and Santa Lacus came into the scene and stole the series from that faggot Shin).

But with more knowledge it was still a reimagening of original Gundam and to a degree, same deal with 00. I don't remember much though so I don't remember the core themes you mention about on people hating each other. Freedom I never saw, is it part of the Seed Destiny universe or is it's own thing?

00 I do remember more. I was invested in it's "I have the biggest gun therefore I will force everyone to play nice" phylosophy, though it fell into some very idealized jank as well as a similar to Lelouch thing of focusing the worlds hatred on them which always seems like a shortsighted copout to "peace". The memes were also gold, Marina Ishmail getting cucked by a fucking Gundam will never stop being funny. Setsuna really was the most autist pilot, even beyond Kamil.

Since the mecha people are here rn. Do you guys have any post-2010 recommendations for shows with cool vehicle designs? (Like in the first two minutes of this clip?) Except for some well-buried OVAs I'm pretty sure I've seen all the old stuff.

I'm a real sucker for interesting mechanics and aesthetics - but i find the 'it's just a suit of samurai armor, but also a robot' stuff not at all my cup of tea; and the japs make a lot of those, while the West makes basically nothing.
Miyazaki's airships. The VOTOMS. Those quadrupeds in Eighty Six, etc. That's more my jam.
