UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot outside Hilton hotel in Midtown in targeted attack: cops - Just Part and Parcel of visiting a Big City

I check KF. Ten quotes. Hoo boy.

I get it, people think it's more about the message and instilling fear. But when it comes to greed and money, most people will happily put their life on the line. They can take preventative measures to protect themselves. This will definitely do that with United healthcare. But all you guys should know that people will risk their lives for money. The almighty dollar surpasses all reason and common sense.

Not really. Modern CEO types are all mega narcs who want to be the next Elon Musk and have everyone tongue their anus. Part of the reason they all suck the DEI cock is the claim to be the savior of gay niggers from outer space.
Go on, tell the next one.
CEO's sucking up to the current trend?
You're having me on!

If he makes it far enough out to sea, he's no longer under anyones jurisdiction. Not a terrible plan if he has the means, but it makes him way easier to find.
Just get a fake ID saying he's underage and hideout on an island. Apparently nobody in power will give a shit about you then. Inb4 we get the corpo shills defending Epstein for being a pillar of capitalism too.

In Canada you pay more in taxes, and it doesn't matter if it's a broken arm, or heart surgery, you walk into the hospital and hand them your healthcard, get whatever treatment you need and don't end up with a bill for $50,000
LOL!

Buddy I’ve lived in Canada. I know how shit their system is. I have friends and family there who don’t even have a doctor because there are none and you can’t even get on a waiting list.

And that’s without even bringing up the wait times. Have fun waiting 6 months for a knee replacement. Or wait over a year for your suicidal teen to see a psychiatrist.

Three out of four Canadians think their system needs “major reform”. And they’re right. Ironically dental care is private in Canada and that system seems to work great.

Americans really don’t know how shitty some of the alternatives are. You can’t even GET AN AMBULANCE without approval here. If they judge you’re not sick enough for one, they’ll tell you to take a taxi.
@Fapcop,

I love your takes in the Rekieta thread, but your takes here are really wrongheaded.

That literally happened to me once when I was doubled over in pain, trying to pass a kidney stone, and projectile vomiting.

They said it was bad, but not "life threatening bad." I live in America. United Healthcare is my insurance.

I ended up having to ask a neighbor to drop me off at the ER that was only a few miles away. They had to pump me full of morphine and shit.

BREAKING NEWS / general update

Mods are asleep so I'm going to literally fedpost.

FBI have released an updated "SEEKING INFORMATION" poster. All it adds is the new photo:

  • It looks like the bus the suspect took could have taken him to "New Jersey, north toward Boston or south toward Philadelphia and Washington, D.C."
  • The NYPD are still combing the pond in Central Park trying to find more evidence (likely the gun)

Imagine being one of those divers and having to submerge yourself in that filthy water. Ugh, errk, brr. Then you get an infection from the water, and UHC denies your claim.
People who have to pay for costly private health insurance get shafted all the time, while poor people get 100% coverage via the govt. Average Americans think the govt should ensure they should get the same kind of full coverage the homeless junkie or bedbound obese fast food monster, that’s never paid a dime in taxes or worked a job, gets.
This is true. The best insurance I've ever had is the Medicare/Medicaid Extra Help I have now that I'm retired. Sometimes they'll reject a prescription in favor of a cheaper, similar one, but if I give their suggested medicine the ole college try, and my doctor agrees it's not working, they'll eventually cave and give me the more expensive one. Also, if both of the Medi's DO deny my claim, the providers are legally not allowed to bill me for the difference. My total out-of-pocket this year is less than $300, and I had major issues that required a lot of expensive testing and imaging. I often feel a little guilty when I see the service and prices my peers who are still working are getting with their regular insurance. It's definitely not fair that working people with conventional insurance don't get the quality of care that people on Medi/Medi get.
Thank god we don't have a giant over bloated bureaucracy in charge of healthcare.

I wouldn't want to be waiting weeks to see my doctor like in those evil socialist commie countries with public funded healthcare.

I've noticed in this past year that it takes up to 2 months just to see a general practitioner. In addition, Urgent Care centers just work as a triage now; if you need any kind of actual care, like a prescription, they refer you to the ER anyway, and you get to wait around for another 3 hours. If you have a short-term problem like a bad cold or flu that's turning into bronchitis, the most efficient and fastest way to take care of it is to just go straight to the ER. Which is absolutely ridiculous.

Louis Rossman (he's a tech YouTube that makes some really great videos and is very proactive about improving things like right to repair) has made a video related to this event:

He is also a Kiwifarms user and wrote a lengthy message in his thread replying to a reaction related to the video someone wrote here: https://kiwifarms.st/threads/escape-from-new-york-louis-rossman-edition.124966/post-20032325

(I haven't watched the video fully just yet, but it seems like it is worth watching so far)

He doesn't need to go to Afghanistan or some shit.
NYPD clearly dropped the ball. All he has to do is live the rest of his life, not talk about it and not commit any crime that will get his DNA ran through the database.
So not commit any federal crimes or any state felonies.

The only thing I'm surprised about is the weapon used
The media keeps putting up images of the B&T VP9 or some shit but from the footage it looks like your standard semi auto pistol judging from the fact he had to manually cycle the slide
The VP9 bolt action is worked via a cap on the rear of the receiver, so it really seems unlikely
I just know people are going to clone his gun just like they're cosplaying the shooter now after more details come up, and it's amazing. People are so fed up and so impoverished with the way the system is now that even the average person is going ”RIP BOZO" lmao

Well yeah, it's Nova Scotia. No one lives there.
There's literally a government number you call if you don't have a family doctor and they find one for you and call you back with the information. The last time I switched to a new doctor they called me back in like 5-6 days. Maybe you and your friends just prefer to whine instead of making a few phonecalls. It sounds like you hate the healthcare in every country you've been to. Maybe you should move to the US and pay the premiums if you're that in love with the idea.

  • It looks like the bus the suspect took could have taken him to "New Jersey, north toward Boston or south toward Philadelphia and Washington, D.C."
Yeah but that was 5 days ago. Do you know how far someone can go in 5 days? 5 days is a lot of time to run/hide. This guy is most likely out of the country, wayyy out of the country

Saying the US Healthcare Insurance Industry is fucked doesn't mean that people want to put a NHS or Canadian style commiefest in place of it. How hard is it to understand that?

United Healthcare has the WORST denial rates of the entire market, over 32% of claims, compared to similar companies that is a full 5% more than the 2nd place and DOUBLE the industry average. They are shit even by american standards.

look at this lil guy who thinks everything is a Jewish conspiracy. when you stub your toe do you blame them as well?
can you prove that the jews that live in my walls didn’t move my coffee table two inches to the left while i was sleeping so i stub my toe? checkmate, atheists

Only my urban ghoul friends who work in, surprise, health or finance.
hmm, so the only people that are upset about this so far are

(((jounalists)))
(((urbanites)))
(((financiers)))
(((insurancers)))
(((executives)))

i’m beginning to see a (((pattern)))

Great. And who’s going to pay for it? Healthcare spending was close to 5 trillion dollars last year.
the patient that’s actually receiving medical care, stupid. health insurance is nothing but government mandated middle men that artificially increase the price of a basic need to survive. how much lower would healthcare spending have been if no insurance had been involved?

healthcare insurance is one of the most malevolent industries that exist in modern times

Unless you are a lefty you’re a complete idiot for appreciating this in any way. Left wing violence and assassinations are bad, always. Anyone who isn’t a lefty and doesn’t take notice of who supports this is also a retard. The people who support it are losers who you could be sharing a shallow grave with.

Last thing you should want is a bunch of little john browns or a bleeding kansas situation. Best case scenario is you’re ignorant of the history of left wing terrorism (it is something they genuinely don’t teach in schools) like the LA Times bombing, Sacco&Vanzetti, or simply the generic left wing playbook to amass the scum of the Earth and use their presence to bypass the normal levels of power.

Impulsive “I just wanna see things happen” or “here’s how this is still based” nonsense is extraordinarily low iq behavior but I know I’ll win few friends pointing this out.
It's good when the parasitic oligarchs die actually and let me couch it in a right-wing frame for your retarded sensibilities. This faggot is part of the social decay of America, he hates you, your way of life, everything about you. The only use he has for you and America is profit. They'll approve insulin for obese Shanequa on Medicare and HRT for 10 year old Billy because the profit margins are so high, but deny you anesthesia for half of your heart surgery or stop your physical therapy one month after a devastating car crash because your problems are just too expensive, and white, and heteronormative

Get it yet you retard?

That's some low level of shithole. I've seen people call an ambo for stupid reasons and still get it. It took a while for it to get here cause they aren't gonna send the A team with the lights running but it got there.
I called an ambulance one time because there was a guy who said couldn’t breathe.

I dial 112 and get whatever government stooge on the horn, and explained the emergency.

You’d think he’d tell me “an ambulance is coming immediately! Please stay where you are!” Right?

Nope.

“Sir, I’ll send you a text message, you need to click the link so we can go on video call and I can verify the emergency!” Then he demanded to speak with the guy who’s gasping for breath.

Another time I guy at my work got a concussion and was bleeding from a head wound. Called the emergency line, no dice! Told me to take a cab to the ER. At own expense of course.

Yeah seems to really not be working out for Japan, Netherlands, UK, Finland, etc., all of whom have a far better system than the US
You do realize that Japan and the Netherlands have insurance systems as well, right? In Japan patient is responsible for a third of the cost.

Haven’t tried the NHS, but Brits tell me it’s shit, and there’s constantly stories about waiting lists, strikes and people dying in hallways because there are no rooms available.

Do you notice how I said "near total privatization"? That's the operative phrase there buddy, you think I don't understand what private insurance within a public system looks like when I have my own in Canada?
The average yearly premium for the affordable care act is $7,452 a year and coverage can still be denied, need pre-authorization, you still deal with the out of network nonsense. In Canada you pay more in taxes, and it doesn't matter if it's a broken arm, or heart surgery, you walk into the hospital and hand them your healthcard, get whatever treatment you need and don't end up with a bill for $50,000 or whatever portion your insurance decided they weren't going to cover. You also don't pay higher premiums because you have more family members, you pay your taxes on your income and your dependants are covered too.
The Canadian system isn't perfect, but people don't have to choose between getting cancer treatment and leaving their families with insurmountable debt, or just opting to die to save money.
In my experience the stories of wait times here killing people are scare mongering. Two people close to me who were diagnosed with cancer were started on treatment within two weeks of their diagnosis. When my friend's mom found a lump they had her into the hospital three days later to make sure it wasn't malignant.
Yeah my friend's brother just had to get his nut removed from testicular cancer, it was looked at, he was sent to a specialist and it was removed within a month or not even. It should be noted I also live in shithole Newfoundland, which probably has the worst healthcare system out of all the provinces.

I’m sorry to hear that. Now imagine how you’d feel if you paid through your ass in taxes for that kind of healthcare. AND a 25% sales tax on top.

The ambulance shows up, but if the insurance company deems it wasn't medically necessary, the insurance will deny the claim and bill you for it anyway.

My great-grandmother had Medicare, and idk if she had a supplemental or not, but if she did, it sucked. She got a bit loopy at the end because she lived into her 90s.

Anyway, one weekend she decided it would be easier to just empty all her pill bottles into a big bowl, and pick out the ones she needed like she was eating a bowl of M & Ms. On Monday, her part-time government housekeeper showed up, saw the bowl full of pills, lost her shit, and called an ambulance, saying Great-Grandma had OD'd. She had not OD'd, and was released about 10 hours later with a clean bill of health. A couple of months later, she got a bill for $600 for the ambulance ride. This was back in the 90s, so I'm sure that same ambulance ride would easily be over $1000 today.

It’s not “near total privatized” though.
Aside from Medicare and states health insurance, everyone who can’t pay get it for free anyways and don’t pay the bill.

On top of that Congress has slapped so many rules on top, like ACA, that it’s nowhere near a free market.

The ambulance shows up, but if the insurance company deems it wasn't medically necessary, the insurance will deny the claim and bill you for it anyway.
Well shit, I prefer getting an ambulance that I may have to pay for, than having some government stooge tell me I can’t have an ambulance.

Ya, the same people who call it an 'amber lamps'.

Don't believe they can find him. From what little I know and have heard, if the killer isn't caught within the first 48 hours the chances of nabbing them go down considerably. And this time the internet sleuths are sitting on their hands.

Couple of other observations. You can lead an active lifestyle, watch the weight, stay away from alcohol and tobacco and things are still going to happen, from personal experience. Nothing I did stopped the aortic stenosis from happening. But all the running/jogging over the years built up the heart function, which was a big help and contributed to me staying in the hospital only four days. Nothing I did stopped the disk from fragmenting, causing sciatica and requiring three spinal surgeries. Nothing I did stopped the cancer from developing, mercifully quickly and fairly easily removed. Nothing I did stopped the hole from forming in a retina, luckily fixed through surgery.

Some say the US medical system is broken. Bullshit. Am still above ground, and I'm just another patient. There is always room for improvement, and the influence of the insurance companies is a cancer on the system. That's why this CEO's being shot isn't gathering any sort of outrage.

What to do? I lean toward a Tricare/Medicare type system, where people pay premiums and the government contributes, with no insurance companies involved. There would be small deductibles and copayments. This would also mean no Medicaid. Providers would have contracts with this system, but providers not wanting to contract with the system could treat patients, on a cash basis from the patients. I would also get rid of the VA medical system. There is no injury, illness, or condition a veteran can develop that cannot be just as successfully by the civilian medical system. Keep the VA nursing homes, but the money saved by ditching VA medical could go toward the general national medical system, Same with the Bureau of Indian Affairs medical system. Perhaps oversimplified, but believe it would work better than the way things are now.
