Escape From New York: Louis Rossmann Edition - Hopefully he does not make Texas a bughive

Is Louis from southern Italy? Do we have any radical terf girls into soft spoken Italian cat lovers? He's got money

>Italian
:optimistic:

@larossmann post your 23andme pls

Also, I thought he was Jewish. Are you telling me that he's a fellow goombah?
IIRC from years ago when he discussed his surname in a video, Rossmann with two n's is a non-Jewish German. A single 'n,' Rossman, is Jewish.

23andme confirms this, for what it's worth.

Edit - Just to be clear, IDGAF if it's Jewish or not. Louis has my utmost respect for the work he does.

I mean... it's not unreasonable to think that a dude from NYC with the last name "Rossmann" is Jewish. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter to me. If he's a guinea, though, then I can start mumbling Italian jokes under my breath while I watch his videos in my living room; and my wife can look at me like the retard that I am.

His neurotic asswiping OCD discussed by him ITT are exactly in line with what Jewish comedian Big Jay Oakerson does fwiw

I have OCD about cleanliness as well and I'm a full-blooded dago, but you are right. The Neurotic Jew is a trope for a reason. Either way, I don't want Louis to think we're all antisemites or something. I'm just surprised to hear that he's Italian.

@larossmann is a solid guy who I think most of us love. It’s an honor that he would feel this place even worthy of hearing what he has to say; even though the cat comment got me a little MATI as I am so good to them. Little self entitled bastards, but they are cute as hell so it’s acceptable.

I would say Louis that I know exactly how you feel. I’ve been stalked IRL before and have done things in the past that I regret which has had me targeted by mentally unstable people. I’ve been in confrontations multiple times and have dealt with a piece being shoved in my face more than once. It’s terrifying until you realize that they are all cowards who would only have reason to cause you harm if you actively are hurting/threatening them. Even at gunpoint you realize most people are afraid of dying in prison and won’t shoot.
Most gun violence is committed by certain lesser fortunate individuals attempting to rob or otherwise make a name for themselves in gangs… so just give them your wallet or buy and learn to use a gun. They don’t shoot you because they know you.

I hope the message you left us was cathartic, but I hope you regret some of your paranoia, not out of shame/embarrassment but as a result of a mind calmed. Your reaction to your demons and the demons (people who act as life sucking parasites hoping for your downfall) should not be mocked; rather understood as a man who is clearly trying his best, only being crushed by negativity of those around him (+ potential unseen life events). Could also be that you’re reacting to the callousness of people in general as you show repeatedly that you score pretty highly in the department of empathy. It’s hard for a carrying person to not feel distressed when they feel that they are surrounded by callous monsters. That’s a major component of fear for people who share your pre-existing condition.

My only recommendation is you step back for a little bit, remind yourself that you are not an evil person indirectly responsible for denying health care to dying individuals and realize that I and many people who walk the earth are so much more worthy of a bullet than you. We haven’t got shot like UHC man and you won’t either.
Your worry stems from overworking yourself, allowing too much negativity to blacken your world, as well as falling into the slippery slope of main character syndrome (the fault where you think you live rent free in most peoples minds).
I am reminded I love your work when I’m working on a computer, I am reminded that I love your work when I’m repairing old tractors and cars. IM NOT REMINDED OF YOU OR MY HATE WHEN IM APPLYING FOR LIFE SAVING CARE! there in lies the difference! UHC dude was a main character in the destruction of life; you will never carry that blight.

Final thought: go to Church, relax and take a few weeks away from the Internet, and go outside, travel. Leave that hellscape of a city you love and go sit with nature. Write down how you feel in a book. Read some good old books and enjoy life away from technology, away from sadists, mockers and tyrants.

I have a theory that the reason my brain does this is because five or ten thousand years ago, you had small tribes of five to forty people, and if a few people in that tribe talked shit about you, you were excluded from hunting, gathering, and probably got killed. I don't think our brain evolved for having tribes or inner friend/neighbor circles of more than 40 people. I see 100 people piling on, hoping for my failure after going on a date with someone who reads it to me after smirking saying they googled me..????

The part of my brain that understands proportions goes out the window. That's not 0.00001% of the people that have engaged with what I say or do. That's 100 people.

But yeah, good advice. Easier said than done, though. Thank you.
I can relate to this a lot.
My best suggestion (if you don't already) would be to try and balance your time delicately between your cause that you're passionate about/internet time vs IRL friends who aren't super internet people or related to your work - it can help a lot with getting your head out of the weeds. Because I think when we read or even speed read through hundreds or more likely thousands of comments a day, whether they are positive or negative, it takes a lot more mental capacity than we might realize. I know you kind of mentioned "people piling on" which would be negative comments, but just the act or reading all the comments and usernames and avatars does something to our brains that is taxing and exhausting - I figure our brain subconsciously keeps track of the innuendo and relationships between all of them and it is overwhelming.

It's really important to have downtime from it all.

my attempt to instill long-term thinking on how we can all benefit each other was mostly a meme. my wiki's top contributors are me & 1 other person.
I feel you on this. Having a cause that you believe in and putting all the effort in and trying to impart upon people a good way of doing things, even when you're super passionate about can be a fucker because its just really hard to come across people who have the same mindset and alignment is an uphill battle - even having that one other person is an achievement. It sucks. It's probably one of the things I've tried the hardest at and failed even harder at.

Anyway, I have watched some of your videos over the years. I'm aware of your right to repair work and think it is a noble and positive thing that is helping to make the world a better place and you have definitely had a profound positive impact on people not just through your mission but also through your videos.

I enjoyed watching your video about the CEO thing and it made me think a lot and I also enjoyed your post here and I certainly learned something from what you shared - I'm happy and grateful to live in a world where we have people like you who share their thoughts so openly and are also open to dialogue and I hope you keep in mind that no matter how frustrating things can get sometimes that you're also helping to inspire a lot of people with the energy that you have.

You might look into the "monkeysphere" model. In short: people have 'room' for maybe about 150 or so actual 'empathetic' connections with real actual people. (For me it's probably closer to 100, YMMV.) And the idea is that, once you go beyond that, your brain typically has to start stereotyping or 'just plain faking it.'

And it also explains why parasocial internet relationships are a bad idea: Sure, to you, the end-consumer, you might think that streamer/personality/thot is in your genetically-wired "top 150." But, just mathematically/statistically: you will never be in theirs. lol And it's not even 'their fault.' Our brains are just not wired to have a personal connection with 1000+ people.

I think you've accepted somebody else's view of what this site is and are projecting your beliefs on to that and now addressing something that isn't even happening. Of course I can only speak for myself, but I don't take out my general hatred of the tranny movement on random passerbys who don't pass nor the trannies I've had to deal with in my personal and professional life.

I agree with you on berating the disrespectful mailman simply because he's screwing with your business by attempting to make a customer feel uncomfortable. Same as if he made a fat joke or laughed at a ginger in your store. He can talk about the "freakshow in the repair shop" with his friends at the bar later, but acting that way in the customer's presence when you're a visitor, especially while you're representing another organization, that's bad.

The issue is with the upper crust of trannies who use their position to attempt to suppress any discussion, not phrases like "Total Tranny Death". They're attempting to suppress discussion about the ways they enrich themselves through fraud and their desire to abuse children. The attacks have been non-stop since users on the forum published evidence of fraud at Trans Lifeline, and the intensity grows as more fraud and abuse is uncovered.

Perhaps then the easiest thing a tranny on the receiving end of this scrutiny can do is convince everyone that the website is nothing but a band of bigots running around screaming like children. Thus people are convinced simply opening the site will expose them to something evil and never see the posts about embezzling of charitable funds, grooming of minors and the disastrous results of sexual reassignment surgery from doctors scamming patients.

The model in your head doesn't match reality as it's built upon lies from the same sort of people who slander you for their own personal gain. Whoever told you these things likely isn't a bad person, they're just repeating something they heard elsewhere without critical thought. Thus I hope you do at least give this place a chance rather than writing it off as a place to share thoughts with if only to attempt to sway its users away from perceived wrongthink.
Or to sum it up in Louis fashion: "You're accepting the premise of assholes. Never accept the premise of assholes."

Also, I thought he was Jewish. Are you telling me that he's a fellow goombah?
IIRC there was a video a while back where he talked about trying to find an apartment. The jewish landlords assumed he was jewish due to his name. After he corrected them and pointed out it was with two N's, they ghosted him.

that’s about it for that.
lol calm down man

This isn't even a lolcow thread but you're acting like it is.
I have a theory that the reason my brain does this is because five or ten thousand years ago, you had small tribes of five to forty people, and if a few people in that tribe talked shit about you, you were excluded from hunting, gathering, and probably got killed.
Yeah that's called Dunbar's number. According to the hypothesis you only have so many spots in your brain for the concept of "us," people who are well and truly family/tribe/whatever who you know well enough to trust and know a lot about.

The fact humans now often have to deal with hundreds or even thousands of people, and a constant flood of random strangers, more or less overwhelms our capacity for empathy and trust. Even if you're a near shutin but online you're constantly dealing with people in an incredibly low-trust environment.

The only real cure is not to trust them and not to really give a shit about what they think or say unless it has useful information for you.

It's not to chimp out or care too much.
Hope you're feeling better soon, @larossmann. We don't want to lose you.
Yeah you need to get a grip, and I mean that in a good way. I'm pretty sure most people here are at least on board with your "right to repair" crusade that is imo a great contribution to the fight for property rights and rights over your own environment.

That said people are going to talk shit and you should exercise prudence in what's worth getting mad about or even taking seriously at all. Most shit people talk is just dumb people saying dumb things.

@larossmann Buddy you only have to worry if you actually start affecting real change, and John Deere+Apple executives get together and start weighing the pros and cons of hiring someone to murder you. So yeah definitely hire private security if you get based and repairpilled laws passed in more than ~20 states.

edit to add: Sorry to say it since you're genuinely a good person, but you're wrong about trannies, they're all horrific porn addicts. I get the whole giving your customers good treatment thing, but still - hire double the security if a tranny ever starts obsessing over you. This site, that you say is so much better than other bullshit social media sites, has been temporarily knocked offline multiple times, solely and only because of the efforts of a few deranged trannies.

Woe unto the man who gives quarter to a tranny, for he has damned himself through his own grace.

99% of you I wouldn’t let pet my cat.
We are not the villains that the rest of the internet makes us out to be. As someone who has had their image unfairly smeared fairly regularly by apple fanboys, I'm sure you understand.

Also, I want you to understand that your goals are super ambitious and you shouldn't feel bad about 'failing'. That kind of change takes a long, long time if it ever happens at all. You should feel proud of what you have accomplished, as opposed to ashamed about what you have not.

So glad to see someone on the path to continuing the truly crucial work Dr. Matthew C. Harris began. Keep it up, the world needs a sequel to Death Sentences.

Allow me to sperg about this.

There seem to be the weird belief around America that German family names consisting out of two words are always Jewish, like names ending in -Stein.
Jewish people in Germany were forced to pick german names and some of them choose fancy sounding names like Edelstein (gemstone), König (King), Zuckerberg (sugar+Hill) or Rosenthal (rose+Valley). Others just followed the old German convention of using their occupation or based their name on something regional.

Rossmann (Horse/Steed Man) is literally just a horse owner in German.
Rossman is just an Anglo Form of it, since many German Family names in America have been anglicized (See: Eisenhauer became Eisenhower)

@larossmann

People with the intention of being shitty or hateful will shit on you regardless of what you do, but don't take what they say to heart. Let the meaningful information stay meaningful, but reduce the background noise. Tuning them out tends to be easier said than done, I know, but it becomes a lot easier when you realize they're a bunch of basement dwelling retards who you would never be able to change the minds of. A lot of people are rooting for you, and we're just a small portion of them.

If you're worried about how people will view you and determine your legacy, I highly doubt that an account on Kiwi Farms will be what defines it. Your actions have and will continue to be spoken louder than their words, and that's proven by the fact that people know you as the guy who fights for the average Joe and their rights as consumers, calls out the bullshit that corporations are trying to pull right from the get-go, and praises those who do right by the consumer.

Some people here view transgender people based on the interactions they've had with them. I have had more positive experiences with transgender people than negative, so I tend to view the transgender lolcows as mere shitheads in a lot and just move on with my day. Most sensible people will at least be respectful to them if they are treated respectfully back and aren't given a reason to hate them. Given this site's history of attacks from transgender lolcows looking to cover up the skeletons aired out from their closets, it is also understandable why some will not share this sentiment.

Like many of us, your content is what got me into consumer rights and the right to repair movement. Your crusade against proprietary shit electronic companies making their shit intentionally impossible to repair and your willingness to go above and beyond to fight for what you believe is right is an admirable quality that we should all strive to be like. Do I think you're a bit nutty sometimes? A little bit, but at the same time you have the right to be given your circumstances and opposition.

Drink some water and get some rest, you sound like you need it.
