Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

If this is how they’re gonna do the combiners I don’t really mind but how much use can they get out of it? Or will they have to come up with new ways to make combiners that fit with the rest?
I think the question is "how do they continue to make that mould work with the other torso bots?" Motormaster got a trailer, which makes sense. Silverbolt gets an extension of his vehicle mode, which also works because the silhouette is essentially the same when it's attached. Assuming this stays the same for any future Scramble City combiners, Onslaught could get maybe a tanker or something on top of his alt mode. But what do you do for Hot Spot or Hun-Gurr?

That said, I am stoked for the new line. The lore implications of Optimus moving into the "Star Optimus Prime" form and actually ascending to his position as the Thirteenth Prime are very interesting, plus finally getting the rest of the Primes is rad. I'm hoping either Hasbro or a third party does some kind of display piece you can put them all in. I do think it's a little silly they didn't do more than give Star Convoy some actual posability and a modern makeover, but I'm probably in the minority there. I would have liked a more complex alt mode, is all.

Edit: I just noticed something. On the artwork of The Thirteen, the Thirteenth Prime looks slightly different than the actual Star Optimus Prime toy and artwork. He actually looks sort of like Powermaster Optimus Prime but not quite?

I wonder if this means we’re getting Powermaster Prime or maybe even God Ginrai at some point in the future.
I'm not sure, but now I'm looking through the instruction sheet for Star Optimus and there's this crystal sphere accessory you put into his chest when he's first unboxed that's also featured in the artwork. But the artwork has this symbol in it that isn't the same as the The Thirteenth or any other Prime's. I think something happens between the Matrix or the Thirteenth that causes this evolution?

Edit: Just spotted Vortex in some of the promo artwork so Bruticus confirmed.

makes sense, if they want to make nexus maximus theywould need the arial bots and combaticons.
I hate to break it to you but…

I can’t do it right now but someone should Digibash the aligned Nexus into his Nexus Maximus colors. Because that’s the only way I can see them saving the look they’re going for.

dunno if i shoud be upset, having to many combiners in a line over saturates the gimmick.

Official product pictures and descriptions are out. Apparently the orb accessory included with SOP is called The Zodiac Orb.

The Primes have my attention, I like what I see with Prima, Solus, The Fallen and even Thirteen (Optimus) I like how they’re doing the “across all iterations” thing and they’re obviously gonna do the really differing takes as repaints and retools.

Haslab is gonna be Primus right? Like there’s no way it isn’t him. They should redo the throne of Primus except as an actual plastic throne with slots for the artifacts, since this line is seemingly just what Power of the Primes should’ve been.

Lots of stuff shown this week. Some already have been shown here already but here's some cleaner images.
Silverbolt with the Superion part.

I don't mind having the combiner break apart to form the combiner. Though could have gone scramble city with this though. I'll Likely get a few of the Primes to customize.

:story:Silverbolt doesn't have wrist swivels
You can either have wrist swivels are actual ankle tilt. You can't have both unless you want to go beyond Commander class. Also, that white plastic looks beefy.

Also, should be pointed out that Megatronus has a 38 step transformation, Siege Megatron only had 17. He should just be a large Megatron so I'm not sure where all the extra steps are coming from unless adding flames is a step.
That wasn't a problem with combiner wars and power of the primes, although I guess that was the whole point of those lines.
My biggest complaint is either not getting the combiners we want, characters that shouldn't be combiners, or wrong transformation in that line. This time around we're only getting the important ones.

I finally began reading the IDW 2005 comics. Not much to say, other than I have gotten to the endpoint of Mike Costa's The Transformers subseries, and I suspect I'm seeing the seeds of what I am informed is the rot I'll eventually have to contend with. Ironhide's pseudo-resurrection and Sunstreaker's rescue are also ridiculous. Gotta keep some favorites dead for the deaths to have any meaning.

Also, while the art in Heart of Darkness is appalling, this was an amusing surprise:

A few hot takes on this:
1. I'm guessing the rot isn't too deep yet if something this "problematic" could be included as part of a concurrent miniseries
2. Alternatively, is this actually woke? It is trans representation (the brain rot is too deep, better put me down)

That cover becomes so, so much worse.

Galvatron and Arcee get retcons

I think I'll just wait for 3rd parties on these guys. For some reason, I thought Prima was a girl for a long time...kinda sad she is a he for this but it's better than tranny-formers. It is what it is.

I snagged an NIB Japanese TFA Ratchet, the old dude's in good shape. I think I'll try to aim for the Japanese line more than the American one when it's financially feasible (aka not multi-hundreds, they're not worth that much imo)

I also got something strange yet cute. It was some Chinese Transformers pvc figures called 'Kindergarten series'. My niece wanted some 'babies' for her and her brother's figures--and obviously auntie Starscream likes to spoil them--so I went on Aliexpress to search for some. Lo and behold, the chinks delivered. They're not fancy or anything, but they're cute and the kids will enjoy them. They make good desk decorations too, I suppose. Good paint jobs too.
