Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

Prima is my favorite cause I’m a sucker for the angelic/Paladin vibe (I AM JUSTICE ITSELF) and the fact that he’s their Zeus-equivalent is pretty cool (minus the sex pest tendencies) but holy fuck, whoever decided to humour the “Ask Vector Prime” faggots and their retcons deserves to be the first one canned when Elon takes over.

Robot Tyrael is now silver Cyclonus. If they had to change the head, you know what would’ve been a good idea? Protoform Optimus, the toy repurposed to be Prima

I know Mark’s tricks, the proper Prima will be sold with the other “variations” of the Primes, alongside the colour scheme they don’t use for Nexus, Shockwave fur suit Onyx, gay Liege and Anakin Megatronus.

They did it with Impactor, Bludgeon and countless others.

Edit: he only costs $160 which is a nice surprise.
Still out of my price range, and I can see so many cut corners even with it being the way it is. I like how it looks but not for the price, even if it is back to regular titan class pricing. The proportions and base mode make me feel like this is an incredibly heavy tweaked upscale of the titans return blaster/soundwave mold's files, even if I know that's more than likely not the case.

Much like titans return's blaster and soundwave scale's now out the window again thanks to this optimus. Not talking alt mode scale I mean character scale. You're not gonna see a megatron scaled like this lmao.

Sucks that combiners are now becoming the "suit you stick predetermined parts on the arms and legs to make it look like it combined" thing save for devastator, thought that was going to be a one time only thing with menasor. ESPECIALLY thought it was gonna be a one time thing due to how horrid menasor's distribution was and how much people hated how 2 of the figures served no purpose other than filling some springholes.

boy this one will have it worse, with menasaur it where cars stuck on him, but with how the arial bots(and jet formers all round) transform they have the robot mode hanging off them. result? it will be a skeleton with a robot wedged under a folded up jet on superion's legs, and this is on top of it having no jet details on the front.

...

i was a full on retard and bought these guys of ali express and they are kos.
brawn is not bad, but it feels weird and you can see from the autobot logo that something us wrong.
the bee is fucked in that the pin in his leg prevents him from transforming fully and the face looks like shit.

Whoever thought making [redacted] and [redacted] siblings after [...redacted] was fucking mentally retarded.
Everything about IDW 1 continuity sounds like intentionally bad writing intended to be satire of early 2000's fanfiction tropes. I'm baffled how the majority of IDW 1's major arcs made it to print.

Guess who is secretly related? Guess who is actually gay? Guess who is the prophetic chosen one from an ancient prophecy? Guess who is the time-traveler who wrote said ancient prophecy? Guess which bad guy actually is super sweet and really loves animals?

This might be a hot take, but Windblade is a good example of the fanfic-yness of IDW 1. Random smart headstrong beautiful (weirdly geisha-themed?) Mary Sue emissary from a colony planet of Cybertronian seekers that inexplicably escaped getting pulled into the Cybertronian Civil War. Beauitful smart emissary girl with special powers conveniently shows up to Cybertron to tell Starscream he is a no good bad selfish jerk, and make him be a good leader. Skip to a few years, she's the new ruler of Cybertron 'cause she's so smart & good or whatever.

Again, not to sh!t on Windblade. She's a decent character, when done right (I actually liked her Cyberverse version a lot).

wingblade could have been done way worse, even in idw she had to face that doing the right thing she would need to go against moraly right things.

the combiner wars version is a hardass murderer who takes out combiners herself and defeats giant screaming head starscream by taking command over metroplex.

It's a shame Hasbro's Combiner War Windblade figures were such dogsh!t (although majority of that line was dogshit & had loose joints/brittle plastic, so it wasn't a Windblade specific issue).

Never had an issue with brittle plastic in that line and I custom paint all my figures. That's one thing that will speed up the process if the plastic isn't the sort to accept paint.

you mean titan masters?
from that line there where a lot of good ones, just the beast ones had brittle problems.

I think what's being talked about is stuff like weirdwolf where the plastic ws weirdly rigid and thin in some areas in a way where it cracked on pretty much every figure. Most cases the figure itself didn't "break" but was permanently disfigured from using it as it was intended. Kind of a shame because that figure was one of the cooler remakes.

Prime wars was generally weird of a phase of generations as it already was because takara and hasbro both intentionally did exclusives to their own regions to over kill levels and most takara figures at the start were locked behind expensive box sets of full combiner teams. IIRC the menasor from the unite warriors set is like an anomaly where it's plastic was either super brittle or had GPS (you know the condition where the figure's metallic plastic becomes brittle to the point it kills itself if you breathe on it wrong) for the first time in years. It sucks how both reigon's motormasters were plagued with QC issues, whether it be the GPS for takara or the knee assembly for hasbro that they "fixed" by doing a running change where the legs couldn't stand properly in the intended A stance. The only one that wasn't plagued was the g2 recolor and that was like frequently marked down to 40 dollars though I never managed to get it before resellers got it and put it back up to like 200.

I think I brought this up a lot earlier in this thread back when combiner wars came out but I really like how weirdly articulated combiner wars breakdown is. For the most part he's standard "modern transformer" even including the lack of wrists now that that's bizzarely become the standard for combiners, but his drop down hips and the shaping of his feet really lend him the ability to pull off some really cool poses, albeit ones we don't really ever see breakdown in lmao.

iirc the issue with Weirdwolf was that the cockpit hinge was right up against soft rubbery plastic, which would weaken the hinge enough that it would break.

My issues over the years with figures has been that terrible rubber they started using with Bludgeon back in RotF. It melted other plastics so as soon as I see it I look for replacements and if I can't find any I'll remove it and use thermal plastic to make a new mold and use something else. new figures with just use it for tires aren't bad because there are places to get new tires but the blast effects need new molds.

mindwipe also had the problem that the rubber wings are integral to the transformation, they can rot/ weaken the hinges.
With that since it's hard to find any custom wings for him I just scanned in the wings and printed new ones. You can go for the oversized knock off and likely get better quality wings.

My mindwipe was pretty unaffected by that, at least a few years back when people started having issues. I should probably check it's status again sometime soon. Might have gotten one of the few good non-melt your own legs off batches but that's a very slim chance I know.

This. I was referencing the Headmasters (the Weirdwolf and Mindwipe figures would have their hinges shatter if you tried to follow their in-box transformation instructions), as well as some random figures from the line I (as well as many others) had issues with - in particular Warpath & Powerglide. Quite a few of said figures were shipped out with poorly molded, crooked & brittle legs (I guess something must have been wrong with their plastics batch?). Their legs would develop fine cracks near the joints & had difficulty transforming, since they were crooked.

When I had emailed Hasbro to complain, Hasbro actually sent me a few replacement figures (alas, not literal replacements. Just 2 Shockwaves 🤷‍♀️) without requiring me to ship my defective figures back, so presumably the defects were a well known issue with the line.

This guy from the abominus combiner was a real unfortunate case since that shit affected the peg for his combiner hand/foot. Really cool little figure otherwise. Speaking of which I never got around to getting the torso for this team somehow despite really liking how he looked in robot and combined form. Kinda wish I had the cash for/didn't miss out on the premium box set versions of PoTP abominus and legacy menasor they put out a while back because I've just got these 2 incomplete combiner teams with some small features or running changes missing they only included in the premium box set ones.

Call me crazy but even if it's inaccurate I like the standard release abominus head better.

Completely unrelated to the combiners but kind of tied to legacy in general Going off the tidal wave situation they aren't even doing running changes for shit that came out defective anymore which is really shitty if it's true.
