General Wrestling Discussion

Stardom PPV tonight was pretty good. Set up a lot of interesting matches for the Dream Queendom show on the 29th. Particularly looking forward to Natsupoi vs. Starlight Kid.

that's fucking stupid
how would you hold POISON in your mouth an entire match

I think I heard it's a capsule they palm, break open and swish around with spit

A lot of times it's a condom filled with food color liquid they just keep in their mouth. that's also the way ken shamrock constantly "bled" in the late 90's when he had "internal bleeding" during seemingly every match.

Triple h is barely booking any of the 2.0 talent any justice, trick is more of a showman and triple h doesn't really like charismatic stars. Especially black ones, dude fired like 90% of the black men outside of New day & melo. It's probably one of the times I miss Vince.
nah, Bron has been booked strong as IC Champ, and Melo had that really good TV match series with Andrade and is in the US Title picture, I think Trick will do fine. I think Bron will be a World Champ in 2026

He's 50/50 booking both Bron & Melo. Bron didn't need the lose the title twice in 3 months, Melo doing heatless matches with Andrade just so nakamura can win the title isn't strong booking. I mean when was the last time we saw Lyra & davenport? He isn't a fan of younger talent considering he killed edge & orton's eariler pushes to get himself over.

>50/50 booking

>REING OF TERROR REEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

Needs more buzzwords and Nash rape jokes, go back to /pw/ until you're ready to get called up to job to MirrorNoir.

(And who the fuck did Bron lose to the second time?)

He lost to sami at money in the bank & Jey uso.

Okay what has the matches with Andrade done outside of nakamura getting the title when he came back last week? You can't be serious to think theory or waller are being used to their potential.

Bianca is a textbook example of triple H's lackluster booking, made her a jobber in nxt, vince saw potential & became a very popular act and the moment triple h took over she's was depushed then barely on TV or in a prominent spot, same thing happened to Alexa bliss before she got pregnant. I know he's trying to make up the black and gold failure on the main roster but diy gets no reaction. You can criticize booking that isn't vince mcmahon dude, that's why aew will never grow because of dick riding.

Sad thing is that Gargano CAN be good with Dexter, it's Ciampa that's the noise around Gargano's neck.

Its pretty insane that Hunter didn't keep Dexter/JG together and just put Ciampa in with the Wyatt Sick. The Way could have been a great stable in terms of a white version of New Day and you could even interject HHH into the mix to create a plot point that the group were Hunter's pet project ala Orton and Batista and create some drama between Rock and Hunter via Gargano vs Roman as proxies for Rock and Hunter to keep feuding and be nice fuck you to Roman had he got his way and not dropped the belt to Cody IE your putting Johnny Gargano over and making him a star as payback.

Stop trying to make Dexter Lumia happen, he is never happening.

Not sure how anyone feels about Cultaholic but I give them credit in this vid for not bringing up or even referencing the rumors of Savage and Stephanie
Wasn't the issue that Vince was phasing him out into a early retirement? Apparently they left in good terms but the silm Jim deal macho gave to wcw ruined their friendship. I didn't take till Mattel doing an action figure for the two to reconcile.

It's kinda similar to edge departure where the older wrestler wanted to do more but the company wanted them to do less on the road or flat out retire.

That's the way I always hear it. The Stephanie stuff I think is just dirt sheet bullshit.

Meltzer talked on his latest podcast about how live attendance for anything but Raw and Smackdown has utterly shit the bed. AEW is way down and they can only really sell out smaller venues or places they haven't been before at this stage. NXT has sold 1500 for a venue that holds 8000, another show only has 750 tickets sold. The annual NJPW show in San Jose that usually sells out has only sold 700 tickets so far.

I can sort of understand AEW and NJPW because they are ice cold at the moment but even though i don't watch NXT i get the impression that the product is fairly good at the moment. Maybe wrestling is just heading into another lull period?

tony has his hand in too many positions within his own company. it just screams control freak. And yeah NXT is okay but there's still dumb ideas floating around in that company as a whole, like a turd that wont flush. like wendy choo being an "evil sleepytime honk-shoo" character. just let the bitch work.

Well. Give it time.
AEW's ratings are only going to get lower from here on out, itll survive as long as Shahid keeps funding it (unfourtnately),the fact is in its current form AEW can't do business

i always found that amazing, Savage just kind of dipped out of wrestling for good after 2000 (aside from that one match in TNA), never appeared in a non-wrestling capacity throughout the 2000s until his death, you have guys like Taker,Austin,Hogan still in the public eye to some degree after their retirements, it must of been a nasty falling out if he just never even considered Vince after WCW folded, the closest thing I can think of today is Batista, but he still wishes WWE well and he's still known for his stuff in Hollywood

gotta disagree here, at least in terms of the WWE its doing great, I could easily see it continuing to be hot for at least another few years, NXT is smaller, but thats because its developmental, AEW sucks but its earned its reputation, TNA is kind of doomed to perpetually being small, but it still has its dedicated fanbase

I'm happy he didn't continue to wrestle in the 2000s, when he returned to WCW in 99 he lost a step and looked totally washed.

I think it's more that the American wrestling market is oversaturated at this point.

There might be more wrestling on TV than ever but the difference this time is that almost all of those promotions view themselves as National brands and you can't regularly cycle out talent every six months like the regional promotions did 30+ years ago (outside of NXT which is just effectively the WWE C-show at this point)

So, unless you're keeping talent and storylines hot, the product is going to get stagnant. WWE/NXT has basically been the only company to stave that off completely. For every 1 or 2 good things AEW had going over the last year, WWE had doubled that.

NXT really shouldn't be booking 8000 seat arenas anyway, outside of Royal Rumble/WrestleMania/Summerslam weekends.
