How... disappointing. I'd have at least expected something more obviously Norse inspired, a rune or two, rather than a girly floral piece with some vaguely magical looking shape, then again... typical of Staph to act like she knows her shit and is fully committed to something, when in reality she half-asses it. On the plus side... it's ambiguous enough for whenever she moves on from Loki (a big if there, she's been at it for ages now with no signs of stopping) and at least somewhat better than other lolcows' tattoos I've seen.

The fact she chose a yarrow flower too has me thinking regret will really begin to set in once she ends up picking a(n equally ridiculous) new name. She's been Yarrow for a while now, but I expect one day she's going to grow tired of that just as she did Sapphire Crimson Claw. Especially after her crazy neighbour misheard it as "Nora".

You know what, I'll play devil's advocate and say that the tattoo is a lot nicer than what I was expecting. It IS very feminine in a folksy craft-fair sort of way, and the balance isn't great (very very top-heavy), but she didn't try and do anything too horribly overambitious that would have looked awful at her pricepoint, and you could fix the balance issues by adding more linework down her arm below it.

We did see that that Etsy page specialized in lineart flowers, and that's what she got. She's always been kind of a woowoo smelly grandma who's a little too into crystals at heart, so it's a good tattoo choice for that because I fully believe that one day she'll just embrace that part of herself.

I'm surprised she didn't get that old Norse word she likes in runes. Ergi, argr or ragr I believe is the word, and a search tells me it means either a sissy-boy or an overly outspoken woman, basically someone who defied gender roles... so in her head it's like a Viking equivalent of 'queer'. And anyone accused of being such had the right to kill their accuser too in a fight to the death, it was serious shit to be called argr, hence her wanting to reclaim it the same way the wokies have reclaimed queer to mean anything but boring and normal. Damn, I was just about to post the image. I thought the name sounded familiar, so I Googled it and found that blog. I saw the sigil style and recognised them from her old digital book of shadows, which was uploaded in the thread a while back and I had fun reading. She saved 500 (exact number) sigils from Tumblr, mostly in that style by that blog. I can't recall if the Loki one was in amongst them, as I was too entertained by all the sigils for trivial shit. I think Staph was the one who lifted it from the blog and either gave it to the Etsy tattoo designer to incorporate, or she got the tattooist to combine an Etsy drawing of some flowers and a print out of that sigil.
