so I was pondering this game

why did Patrick Weekes go from writing solas to Traash?

he can write well (Solas!). but good writing was not rewarded at bioware -- per Gaider himself. if you spoke up you were destroyed by the Alphabet mafia and fired

he saw this happen to many of friends. and he chose to do something in the only way he knew how: write a character

but he could not do this openly. so what did he do? Blended in. Dyed his hair. Changed his name.

And wrote Taash -- on the one hand, she is a terrible character and a terrible person.....if you want people to like her.

She/They was written by TRICK Weekes, was she not?

makes u think

Maybe Trick had whatever Nick Rakieta had, and is now letting his inner balldo show as part of being true to himself.

I think the main difference between Taash and Solas is that Solas was written with heavy input from David Gaider, and Weekes was not the lead writer like he is now. He was made a lead writer from Trespasser on. I think with a good tard wrangler, Weekes does well, and without one, we get, well...Taash and some of his other works.

FLEEKAZOID dropped the video on Veilguard a few days ago. It discusses in a comedic way the more broad topic that a lot of the videogame companies that we knew are now dead and buried. I like it, it's more refreshing than another video just bashing the game (something that he already did).

I always love the 'some people worked VERY hard on this game, you jerks!' argument. The creators of RapeLay worked hard on that too (pun intended), so where are its GOTY nominations?

I don't care how many years you spent in culinary school learning to prepare me this plate of dogshit, I'm never going to eat it.

All sorts of companies work really hard on products that turn out to be shit, but for some reason only the game industry publicly attacks their customers. If Samsung release a new TV that flops the creators don't take to social media to accuse people of being stupid and bigots for not buying it.

It's not just the games industry. Pissing on an unreceptive audience has been SOP in film and television/streaming since Ghostbusters 2016, with Star Wars perfecting the tactic. James Mangold is in the news right now bitching about the audience not liking his terrible Indiana Jones movie.

Games industryfags are way worse about it than film industryfags though. Seeing a director or actor publicly lashing out is common enough but it's not like an effects guy or a cameraman is doing the same (or at the very least, not getting nearly the same amount of attention). With the game industry, it seems like every tier has its handful of jilted failures who spend more time sperging on social media than they are doing their job.

True, the film industry tends to do its dirty work through proxies like "superfans" and influencers and social media accounts that may or may not be bots. I assume it's because people in the games industry lead more boring lives, have less money, and therefore have more time to waste grousing on Twitter or BlueSky or wherever they're doing their bitching lately.

For a long time yeah, but lately it seems more commonplace in other media too, and it's always the same DEI garbage where it comes up. Don't like the new Star Wars movies? You must hate women and blacks. Don't like MCU since Endgame? You must hate women and blacks. Thought the Rings Of Power sucked? You must hate women and blacks.

The only difference I really see is that generally the big names in these projects mostly manage to keep their mouths shut. I know the new Snow White put her foot in it and the She-Hulk and Acolyte teams had some choice words for the haters, but I think because most of these people have actual tard-wranglers (i.e. PR teams) they don't get to have the same outbursts we see from game devs.

In the end the outcome always seems to be the same though: these products fail because they fucking suck and no amount of whining or shaming will get bums in seats to consoom this tripe.

i would love for an article like "camera guy working on gladiator 2 tweets out on X he doesn't like trump"

Jesus Christ, this fucker sounds so fucking annoying. I listened to him for 1 minute and I couldn't stand it. His voicee and the way he speaks is just terrible.

Is he fucking drunk? Theater fags are viciously catty like no other group of entertainment whores! They absolutely will openly shit on other shows, whether in competition or not.
Yeah, that comment got me a little bit MATI because of how blatantly insincere and detached from reality it is.

Take all the interpersonal drama, the professional jealousy, the backstabbing, and the two-faced opportunism that are present in any and all industries, and now multiply all that by X, wherin X is a mix of unbridled narcissism, egos so inflated you can see them from outer space, and a general propensity for excessive histrionics, and you get the magical world of theater.

I've never worked in a field so thoroughly riddled with unhinged professional jealousy and disturbingly vile ill will towards both, competitors and colleagues, than the performing arts. Hell, it's considered normal for the understudy to approach the respective production in a state of perpetual assblastedness while hoping and praying that something ghastly and possibly permanent happens to the main performer before opening night, and that's just professional hatred within the same team. Mutual respect for the art my ass.

The only one group of people I hated in my high school were the art kids in the theater kids Oh my God the pretensions just dripped off those people

As per an update on choices from Bioware themselves:

Lucanis is a correct choice. Sending Taash to fight the Venatori Commander will always get her killed, by the way.
