UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot outside Hilton hotel in Midtown in targeted attack: cops - Just Part and Parcel of visiting a Big City

In yet another demonstration of what they really think of any commoner dumb enough to unironically shill for & support them, TPTB is now trying to get out of paying the reward money to the snitch. (Archive)
sorry if late, but this is actually a thing that's been happening for decades. They advertise the reward but don't go out of their way to specify that you have to call the tip line and not 911 to claim the reward. Basically the way the reward works is based on who makes the arrest and how it is processed in the chain of custody.

If you call 911, your call gets forwarded to the nearest 911 call center and therefore to the local law enforcement. They then make the arrest and extradite the guy back to the jurisdiction that put it up. The reward is invalidated because the arrest was called into the local law enforcement agency and they didn't have a reward on it.

I've been reading more about it and not just as a result of this and it kind of feels like the retirement funds and social security situation worldwide. I'm not discounting the fact that UnitedHealth may have been a particularly evil company but life expectancy keeps climbing and rates of cancer and all sorts of illnesses keep climbing. While it appears the mortality rates of various cancers have dropped significantly there are a lot more people being born every day and a lot more of them are getting expensive illnesses.

So it seems like its going to just end up being a case of "pick your poison" where you might have to wait months to get appointments with specialists or super expensive premiums or only partial care for certain things. Don't know what the solution is. Medical costs have always been known to be super expensive in the US though (my health insurance has always specifically excluded the US and if you want it costs way more - I'm not a burger person). And medical tourism exists where instead of going into hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt you can travel overseas and get treatment for certain things (for long term treatment like cancer and many others that isn't really that viable though).

Even if I weren't an evil healthcare CEO and maybe one of the better healthcare CEOs it really isn't a job that I'd like to take right now.
That is why it almost a fruitless argument over euro style socialised meds or Health insurance hell. Both seem to add to the same conclusion of the end customer with his leg hanging off is screwed one way or another. It is depressing as hell.

They’re all overworked and up against a wall should they make a single mistake. They have to deal with junkies, Karen demanding magic pills, Karens who consult Dr. Google, Karens pissed they can’t get their kid’s Ritalin because of shortages, poor people who are in pain and or dying, people who get charged $4000 for one med while state employees pay $0 for the same med.

Pharmacists have zero control and they have more shit shoved at them all of the time. They have to make calls, and follow up with docs and insurance, deal with shortages, and rebate handling PBM’s , other pharmacies, and give out clot shots and make their numbers for their corporate structure.

Your local pharmacist also has to understand not only the drugs, their complications and interactions, but also understand the hugely fucked up medical system (something you refuse to even attempt to do) in a way that they can successfully navigate and explain it to people.

This is the stupidest fucking take in the thread. You are spouting off horsehit about a system you refuse to learn about.

The money a pharmacist makes is paltry for the amount of stress and bullshit and abuse they put up with.

I cosign this.

I mean… If the US decided to drop having bases in 140 countries around the world, and decided to go for nukes+small Air Force+small navy+National Guards for defense, there’s like an easy trillion dollars a year to save there.

At least.

Could go towards healthcare which would be much better value for taxpayer money IMHO.

Truly a kiked up snitch system. Dangles award money for tips, does very rarely have to pay out.

Gross.

I have found the claim from CNN that the Daily Fail was referencing. Fuckers updated Daily Fail page with correct links to the CNN claim. Something that was missing this morning when i was reading the page and made my post. I absolutely fucking hate that site for their constant journoscum fuck ups.

They do indeed have his notebook and it did mention spitball plans to set up a bomb. But is quoted as scrubbing the idea because "could kill innocents".
"could kill innocents"
In fucking New York.
He seems like a great guy but a bit naive.

He does have some interesting points. At what part of a company do you have a cut off for violent retribution? When does the call center staff become collaborators? They have to tell the person on the other end that their claim is denied. And i am quite sure some take a great delight in doing it. Remember the "I was just following orders" excuse was laughed at in 1945.
Should people be bombing the mail clerks home and gunning the front office desks family down?
I think i have proven in this thread that have no love for the CEO. But it is interesting to think about these questions.

Annecdotal, but to your point: I had a health issue earlier in the year (it got better) that lasted several months and took several more to recover from. The pain was unbearable and I couldn't get more than a couple of hours rest a night. I started praying to die at one point because I couldn't imagine living in that much agony anymore.

Imagine knowing everyday of the rest of your life is a 10 on the fucking pain scale and there isn't anything you can do about it except dope yourself up or have surgery that might not work. If you've never expereinced a 10 on the daily consider yourself extremely fortunate. It'll drive you insane. Every breath, every step, every movement hurts. Your entire life is rewritten around this feeling. You can't do anything without feeling it and it always occupies the forefront of your mind. You can never not think about it. You can't sleep and the lack of sleep and the pain will make you an emotional mess. You can't function normally.

I can easily imagine someone throwing in the towel and saying "fuck it what's the worst that could happen? They kill me? Good."

This is something only someone that has dealt with this kind of pain can understand. It is one of those things that until you have the lived experience of it, it is incomprehensible.

Out of interest, I took a look through some of United Healthcare's annual reports. Seems like their earnings on operations, AKA the difference between what they take in in premiums and pay out in claims has been creeping up pretty steadily percentage wise. This is not what you'd expect in an actually free market. I wonder how the people who run these companies choose to ignore that these "efficiencies" come at the cost of actual peoples' lives.

If you want to engage in rank hypocrisy, I can't stop you. Dehumanise away. But it's my duty to at least comment on what you are doing, because one day you'll have to justify it before God.
“Hey God, see that faggot burning in the lake of fire down there? I agree with you that he belongs there. High five.”

Huh, when you put it like that it doesn’t seem so bad.

I'm guessing this guy had no issues with a German woman in her 90s getting a prison sentence for being a secretary at a certain camp.

Nah, the lumbrosacral fusion in that pic is the standard treatment. Given it's a blurry, low res screenshot of an image, it looks well done. Nothing gross jumps out at me as being weird, unusual, out of place.
It looks off to me - but maybe it’s just a shot taken at an angle? It looks kind of twisted . Maybe just taken at an angle that makes it look like that in 2d.

The first part of that claim can certainly be true. The latter cannot.

God used the Babylonians to bring judgement on Assyria, but that did not make the Babylonians righteous, which is why they were also judged later.
Christ said "suffer the little children and forbid them not to come unto me for such is the kingdom of Heaven". Brian appears to have misunderstood and made it his life mission to make little children suffer in the name of profit, before sending them off to Heaven. As for Luigi? God helps those who help themselves.

I think it's the way it is presenting on a 2D compositing. It looks okay, for the most part. I'm not thrilled with the placement of the first screw in the lumbar vertebrae, it looks exceptionally close to the surface. But, again, that could be artificing from 2D compositing. I'd really need to see a few more 2D views or a CT reconstruction to know for sure.

That makes no sense. That guy has busted teeth. You could easily see in that photo the the killer had an panty dropping smile.
It's because he had several very in depth videos on YouTube about American healthcare and one specifically about UnitedHealth that went into da algorithm immediately after the shooting happened - he specifically called UnitedHealth pretty much a scam and that it was fucking up people's lives and stuff along those lines. And the video was made a year ago.

So I'm guessing people thought he might be the killer and reported him to TMZ etc just because he was outspoken about UnitedHealth a long time ago. It doesn't even sound like it was trolling/pozloading my neghole but more like "holy shit this guy knew about the deepstate 9/11 UnitedHealth conspiracy a year ago, he must be da shooter"

This specific video got algorithm'd:
And I guess at a glance he bears some similarities to the shooters face shots (which were very blurry and poor quality)

Dude doesn’t want to get caught: gets a fake ID, hides his face, keeps spare clothing in his backpack, etc.

Then proceeds to keep the fake ID, the gun, and the manifesto after doing the deed.

Dude wants to get caught: still gets a fake ID, hides his face, keeps spare clothing in his backpack, etc.

WUT?!

And to everyone saying they wouldn’t be so blatant with fake evidence, I present to you Epstein.

It doesn’t matter if it’s absurd; as long as there’s no irrefutable proof that it’s fake the fact that its absurd means nothing. You could have Obama ritually sacrificing a child on film and if the experts said its AI you would have no way to prove that it isn't.

This is kinda why people should be cautious about cheering this kind of action on or wanting the course of justice to be perverted - in the moment it sounds great and like its the perfect reaction to a bunch of shit that has happened without enough attention for years. But it can venture pretty soon into territory like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-abortion_violence

People will always call this the "slippery slope fallacy" or fearmongering but its not always the case, especially when this was such a public action and it has enjoyed such widespread support.
