Or maybe, Santa’s powers aren’t entirely physical and he’s able to compel people to buy gifts for those he deems worthy and instead of coal, he makes sure the gift you get instead is something disappointing, since coal during winter time is quite the useful present.
It's true. I went into a day-long psychic fugue, and when I woke, I'd bought and decorated a full-sized pine tree and there were several hundred dollars worth of charges on my credit card. I don't remember any of it because I was possessed by Santa Claus at the time.

I'm hoping that Santa has judged my family as naughty because I don't know how many more day-long fugues I can afford this year.

Krampus is real. Santa is Krampus. Thus Santa is real.

No, I can't tell you WHY presents appear under the tree every morning on December 25th. But I can measure it. I can predict the next and following appearance. I have a very good understanding of it and that's good enough for me. I'm not distracted by the philosophical side of WHY presents appear under the tree.

My girl made me watch a Christmas movie recently about an adult that believes in Santa.

For some reason I didn’t expect it to be all about “faith” and an allegory for believing in Jesus, but of course it was that.

Santa was a Roman Aristocrat born in the Anatolia plains. He gave up his wealth to become a priest and for that, Diocletian imprisoned him. He was later freed by Constatine and was invited to the first council of Nicea. Before the bishops exiled Arius for promoting his heretical Arianism, Santa beats the shit outta him because no one hates Arius more than Saint Nicholas himself. Every winter solstice, he leaves gifts on the open windows for children.
