Yep McConnell in '16 thought he was doing something brave in blocking Garland, when he thought Garland would just get in with Killary. But then Trump won. And so the seat went to Gorsuch who in Mitch's mind and many in DC just replaced Scalia (not really even, he's more liberal than Scalia). This same thing happened with Bush 43 when Rehnquist died in the middle of appointing a new justice for Sandra Day O Connor Roberts was easily passed because he was a red seat replacing a red seat, and they fought harder to block Alito.

As far as this assassin goes, what people keep forgetting, is that CEOs are the faces of their companies. They aren't completely responsible for the shit their corporate empires do, but they aren't completely innocent either.

Just like a politician isn't the end all be all of crooked politics, they are the FACE of it to some people.

Healthcare, ever since ACA, HMOs and the rest, has gotten terrible. We all fucking know it.

Then why did Mitch McConnell go to bat blocking Democrat SCOTUS nominees and pushing through Republican ones like Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh, and Neil Gorsuch? I guess what I'm trying to say here is there's more going on besides "muh fuggin' RINOs." Not that I'm trying to convince anyone that Mitch McConnell isn't a backstabbing swamp lizard, but he is supposedly "ConInc" while also being responsible for getting the Senate to push through all three SCOTUS candidates. The only GOP Senators who pussy-footed around with Supreme Court nominations were Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski, both of whom are far bigger RINOs than a lot of other GOP Senators.

Mitch McConnell is ConInc, but unlike most members of his faction, he isn't an absolute fuckin' moron. In 2016, after results were in, he saw that the way to get what he wanted was to deal with Trump. His retarded counterpart in the House, Paul Ryan, did not understand this and thought the smart play was to constantly backstab. Note the difference in outcomes. McConnell remained the leader of the Senate Republicans, while Ryan's political career is dead.

McConnell hates Trump but the need to avenge Scalia and prevent Obama from securing a liberal majority on the SC, combined with shoring up said majority so it will last well into the 2060s made him do business with him. Along with McConnell being radicalized by what happened to Bork and Thomas.
