General Wrestling Discussion

I think it was just Vince McMahon not knowing what to do with his newly hired WCW star. Of course he would make his existence miserable for a while until they figured out what to do with him, he got some nicknames like the Big Nasty or the Big Nasty Bastard before finally sticking to Big Show.

This is the only video I could find referring to this short gimmick for Big Show. He would come out as a new character every time and just completely job out and the big man seemed fucking miserable during this period. Is there any backstory to this? Was this punishment for something?

Since the video is just the entrance, Show would get in the ring and announce "I am Shonan, the Barbarian!" And he'd job to someone I forget and he just goes "Fuck it" and grabs the sword and clocks the guy for a DQ.
This was after he was in the WWF for a year or two. Vince wanted him to lose weight and he didn't, so Vince punished him by doing shit like this

What a fucking stupid spot. All that for 2 dozen fans and $20
see i know john wayne murdoch personally, and i can tell you FOR A FACT, that he got paid much more than twenty bucks...he actually got paid 30 AND 3 unsold hot dogs from the concession stand

Logan Paul is claiming that he has retired from wrestling
we can only hope. He's an absolute shitheel, gimmick and irl. He started wrestling for clout and to push his stupid energy drink. hope he retires into a grave

Logan Paul probably got told to lay down on WWE shit after getting slammed the entire year on the public sphere either for being caught doing stupid YT scammer shit or talking about trannies during the Olympics. He loves money more than he loves his family so there's no way he won't return to either WWE or AEW if it makes him money.
That's probably true, WWE doesn't want the negative PR for it (understandably so)
the only "money match" I see for Logan currently is CM Punk.
my god I can only imagine Punk's promos on him.

Interesting quote from Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live:

“Do you know how many people I talked to in AEW yesterday, and every last single one of them… ‘aghast’ may not even be the right word… ‘appalled’ that Toni Storm’s return is on Rampage.”

“I swear to god this is true – you could have had 200 people lined up outside Tony Khan’s door last night, one by one, all 200 of them could have gone in there and said, ‘This idea is stupid’, and do you wanna know what’d happen at the end of the night? He’d have still done it, because that’s what happens. People argue things with him every single week, and at the end of the day, he does whatever he wants.”

Even Alvarez seems to be firmly in the anti-Tony camp these days.

Reading this made me realize Pete's gimmick is being mad and unable to let go of the fact Vince gave him a shit gimmick/name. :story:
To be fair, Dunne needs to eat a dick if he hates the Butch gimmick. The Butch outfit was awesome looking, especially compared to Pete's shitty NXT garb and his character as a rabid dog type way more interesting than his generic shitter. It was a classic "broken clock is right once a day" moment for Vince.

I gotta call bullshit on this because I can't think that the Snowman anticipated getting CM Punk, Brodie Lee dying, Cody landing like a wet fart/going back to WWE, etc.

I think he had a basic idea for Hangman getting a 'big win' and maybe some broad strokes shit, but 5 years 'mapped out'? Nah.
From what's been whispered, the plan as it were was Kenny drops the belt to Hangman and Hangman holding the belt hostage until Kenny got healed up at long last and dropping the belt back to Kenny.

But Tony's ability to fucking adapt to shit happening has been hit or miss as far as being a coin toss if he'll adapt and change on the fly or if he'll speed run shit to finish early or put everything on fucking pause until he gets everything "just right" even if the delay destroys everyone's momentum and fucks things up because they waited too late

He's put his biggest stars on Rampage a good bit in recent months which is doubly stupid because nobody watches even because of that anyway and it is being cancelled early next year so trying to rehab it is pointless.

The likes of Toni, Ospeary or pretty much any of their top tier champs shouldn't be on the failing C show because it is devaluing them.

You mean the billionaire owner of the company has final say on how things go? What the fuck are these idiots expecting, lmao.

Gaze not into the Vince lest ye become the Vince yourself.

I was talking about Hangman's original title win which was supposed to make him a star (it didn't) and other guys who had momentum losing it.

I could believe that he had that planned out. But that was like, what, a year, year and a half or so accounting for Covid/injuries, etc, of stories?

Five years worth of booking would've ran from about 2018-2023. I think you could see a general stretch of where things were a bit more tightly booked and entertaining, which I think were guys like Jericho, Cody, the Bucks, etc. legitimately helping Tony get his head around running a wrestling show.

You also had guys like Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson, and Jake Roberts were also helping out behind the scenes and 2/3 of them are no longer with the company and Jake has been seemingly underutilized. Gives me the sense that the Snowman grew too big for his britches and started calling the shots (which, again, his prerogative.)

It's time for it to all go on Youtube.

his gimmick should be "the most miserable man in the world" i've never seen the man grin, smile, smirk, simper, leer, nothing. man just stares at you with this look on his face like he smelled the worst fart on the planet and knows it came from you. or a father thats constantly disappointed. I've never seen anyone look so unhappy about anything

Heard recently that Smackdown will be moving to Netflix in January but only in the UK, thankfully VPN’s still work to switch locations though.

Netflix we already pay for so I’m fine with Raw moving there, if Peacock keeps their whole WWE catalogue will still do that, but in the US next year Smackdown will stay on USA.

I would really appreciate it if WWE could be a bit clearer and if the braindead jew could shut the fuck up and stop pretending he knows shit.

Btw did you guys know Shibata had his brain removed and then put back in? :story:

Isn't Pete Dunne a vegan/became a vegan because a good chunk of the top guys in the UK wrestling scene in the late 2010s were vegan evangelist types who used their veganism as a downlow method to gatekeep "undesirables" from the top card? Would explain him looking miserable 24-7....

TNA have probably signed Tessa Blanchard to a full time deal and this has made Jordynne Grace confirm that she is definitely leaving for WWE because they don't get on at all. I think Tessa is the better worker but she is just sort of an arsehole who faces no consequences for being like that.

A weekly RoH show is being bid on by a few different networks and will probably take Rampages spot in the overall AEW/RoH hierarchy as the C show. It'll probably end up on a tiny network but they are pretty much just taping Dynamite/Collision dark matches so the extra cost is minimal.

that's my plan for now, I usually only watch the PLEs live so ill stay on Peacock, WWE is good with uploading the important segments on TV to YouTube anyway
