Dunn was a pillhead himself from being in chronic pain from stunts. His boyfriend sticking around would've done nothing.

It's been painfully obvious that Bam was on a downward spiral. His time spent with Ville Valo kickstarted the whole thing, and became far worse once Bam realized that Ville wasn't going to Poz his Neghole like he wanted him to. Dunn was the settled for butt buddy of Bam that gave him the male attention he so craved. Once Dunn was rejected from the mortal coil in a blaze of glory, Bam had nobody but ass patters.

I think what I love the most about his descent to rock bottom/death is that he regularly gets the shit beat out of him. He may still be wealthy enough to not work, but it's a cosmic justice that he gets lit up and put into the hospital.

I wouldn't say I feel the same acrimony towards Margera, although my sympathy is definitely limited when he's essentially been able to live life on easy mode and still manage to mess it all up completely. Very few people are able to act like idiots for the amusement of other idiots and somehow become a millionaire out of it, and it's not like this unlikely success was something he was even chiefly responsible for as the junior cast member of a show that somebody else envisioned.

The fact of the matter is, he got very lucky at a young age, and spent most of his young life vicariously failing upwards. His luck has largely ran out now that his former fans have grown up, and his physical ability to perform the stunts that made him famous has been diminished by age and substance abuse.
