Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

In other exciting news, I realized I have a CD copy of the soundtrack for Dirty Pair: Project Eden in my possession. When did I get this? Where did I get it from? Was it an online purchase? Did I pick it up somewhere at a physical retailer? How long ago was it? I mean, Project Eden was the first production in the Dirty Pair series I ever watched, I remember that real well.

They're showing Daft Punk/Leiji Matsumoto's Interstella 5555 only tonight in theaters, but the AI upscaling they did looks pretty atrocious.
Any thoughts on if I should still go see it?

It's up to you if that stuff like this bothers you. 2000s Digipaint animation should stay at 576p

I've never seen it before but it is something on my bucketlist I wanted to see in theaters.
But yeah that trailer is pretty bad.
Apparently the master files were lost or they couldn't get them so that's why they went the AI route but it is noticeable.

Also all the faggots in here better stop shitting on Eureka Seven.

I love Acro Trip so much. It's a comedy but takes itself just seriously enough you get invested in the characters.

Also I should watch more anime.

Rewatching "Parasyte: The Maxim", have not read the manga, but some things in the anime don't make sense now that I take 2 seconds to think about it.

Inline spoilers because spoilers:
Like the main protagonist being caught by the detective, when at that point he has ultra hearing + higher perceptive abilities (and has shown he could easily hear someone behind/tracking him).

When Shimada (the parasite) who supposedly would be able to see extremely fast swings, gets sprayed with the oldest trick in the book when the girl throws him the bottle with chemicals.

When Shimada transforms in the freaking alley, exposing himself to that girl, yeah, why not just do it in the middle of the street? Leaving alone the fact that he should have been able to pick on that he was being followed by the girl even before this happened.

When the parasite-mom (of the main character), acting supposedly logical, decides to not cut his head off to ensure victory, and instead lets him lay there for a potential (and actual) recovery.

There's probably more, but there's always MC-plot armor, and "story progression armor" to ensure things go one way, even if they don't make sense (if you actually think about it).

Also, weird lewd moments at the beginning, one particularly stands off when Migi tries to jerk the MC off. :story:

But anyways, Migi is my favourite character, he's such a cutie:

imo that's the worst part, not the missing detail most people won't notice anyway, but it's sharpened to a degree that just makes it look off. even an ounce of blur would've helped make it look softer, the original never was "crisp" due to it's resolution. ffs the whole artstyle is "vintage" that 4k sharp doesn't look good at all. clean != sharp

I can't even tell who's a man or a woman anymore, everyone is a genderless blob and I wouldn't be surprised Gundam will continue to be lesbian space mechs for the foreseeable future.
I agree. This is pretty dire (this must be how people felt when AGE came out, but much worse since this clearly isn't for kids while AGE was), but at least we'll have more SEED for the foreseeable future. It's amazing how that movie ended up unironically saving anime after SEED was mocked for years. It turns out that, in order to make a good mecha anime, you just need excellent designs, good worldbuilding, and lots of cool action! Who'd have thunk?! Let's just hope we get SEED Justice, Baan Gaan, Layzelber, Photogrizer, Sworgrader, and Dendoh S2 next.
