Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

I agree. This is pretty dire (this must be how people felt when AGE came out, but much worse since this clearly isn't for kids while AGE was), but at least we'll have more SEED for the foreseeable future. It's amazing how that movie ended up unironically saving anime after SEED was mocked for years. It turns out that, in order to make a good mecha anime, you just need excellent designs, good worldbuilding, and lots of cool action! Who'd have thunk?! Let's just hope we get SEED Justice, Baan Gaan, Layzelber, Photogrizer, Sworgrader, and Dendoh S2 next.
I saw AGE's trailer on day 1 and shitposted on /m/ about it. At this actually vaguely looks like Gundam, more than AGE at least between the character design (by the guy who did a bunch of shota junk that fujos watch), the mecha design (Yugioh-looking dragons plus people thought it was more aliens like in the 00 movie), and the digivice thing. But then the second trailer and some more details came out and it didn't look so horrible. Of course, it was godawful (in everything but the concept, the OST, and the second arc), and right down there with G-Witch for worst Gundam ever, but it was horrible for different reasons than anyone thought.
The first AI-animated anime is coming in Spring 2025: https://x.com/AniNewsAndFacts/status/1867631366168621433
Took them long enough. I just look how much awful animation and lazy shit there is in anime now compared to even a decade ago and think "wow, AI sure might help make it look decent again."

The gundam design's are a bit too kill la kill for my tastes but I dont really care because the leaked twist is fucking awesome.

That's called "different art styles".

Is this a woman or a man?
Answer:Man

Same Question
Answer:Woman
Even if the artstyles are different, its a question of representation and details. If your artstyle does not make logical sense and doesnt align with peoples intution, that means the artstyle fails to do its job. Lets take drama queen.

This tells me that its a 15-18 year old boy, maybe a slight bit older. If this was a woman, the thighs would be slightly bigger, the hips would be slightly bigger, she would be a bit shorter, jawline would be more angular and less flat, clothing seems too male, little more wavy hair instead of the Cloud Strife scruffy hair, inked/pronounced lips, chest to waist ratio would be more, small changes like that. Im not saying it has to be pornographic with big breasts and butt and whatever, Shoujo Manga dont draw women pornographically but even with simplistic artstyles Shoujo and Josei Manga are able to clearly indicate which is a man which is a woman. From the same manga

How am I able to accurately judge that these are women, they dont look like coomerbait.

This at best looks like a butch lesbian whos cosplaying Cloud Strife and at worst looks like a twink. Not my fault.

I've almost finished watching the first season of Psycho-Pass and I can definitely recommend; very intriguing future scenario where people's criminal intent can be scanned and assessed in the street or by a cop's dominator (a special gun/scanning device that measure's a person's hue) and as a consequence they can be labelled "latent criminals" who are either sent to compulsory counseling to stabilise their "hue" (criminality score, basically) or incarcerated, or if they're thinking about/have done really, really bad stuff they're turned into red jelly on the spot.

This entire "utopian" society is under the thumb of an organisation called the Sibyl System which is sort of a giant computer which is like an Eye of Sauron throughout the country which is basically the judge behind the cross hairs of the dominators and the lenses of the street scanners. There's a very interesting development later in the series in regards to this.

I stumbled into season 3 on Prime (wasn't immediately clear it was third season) and was pretty confused. Looking back on it was okay but nowhere near as engaging as this first season which is usually the case with many shows.

It sounds like a skill issue with (malnourished) tomboys, I clocked her as a woman from the start.

Also the two City Hunter characters you cited out-of-context blows your complaints out of the water. Just accept the L and move on.

What kind of tomboys do you mean? The only tomboys in manga I know of are Kaori and casca. I'm trying to compare and contrast the generational difference between artstyles with the city hunter pictures (they're actually from family compo but whatever), the modern webcomic artstyle in manga is everywhere cause it's easy to do and fits better with a crunchy schedule. It still looks bad. Again traps look like women, would you call them women because they look like it? If you didn't know the context you probably would. Same here, if I didn't read the text and just looked at the drawings, Id think Numamoto was a dude. I'll take the L if you can give me examples of these supposed tomboys who look like this, who look like a twink. If illustration is needed I can go into super autistic detail by circling the exact differences which makes this a twink.

Psycho Pass is a great case of a fantastic setup but no real idea where to continue from there. The idea of going against the Sibyl System because of it being corrupt doesn't really work when seemingly everywhere else is shit, and the system itself does work for 99.9% of the cases. At most you can reduce its influence.

Black Lagoon
I know who Revy is, Revy is a spiritual Tomboy, she doesnt look like one. I know of the Gunsmith Cats girls as well, they dont look like anything twinky. Like I said, I want examples of Tomboys with a male haircut, traditionally male clothing and look like teenage boys or twinks. Hilde from Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu also doesnt look like a man. Maybe Oscar from Rose of Versailles looks like a man but still doesnt look anything like a twink, still has distinct feminine traits.

I need to say this after some spergs went after it. Goblin Slayer is based. Goblins are objectively evil rape monsters and our protagonist wants to genocide the fuck out of them
> but the first episode
Was the shit test to tell you to get off the fucking train if you weren't prepared for this kind of story
> it makes the rape sexy
Motherfucker have you seen the Goblins???
>it's excessively violent!
Goblin Slayer is medieval Doom Guy, shut the fuck up Goblin sympathizer.

I'm literally (re) watching the first episode right now. There is nothing hot about these monsters, or any indication by the story you're supposed to root for them. Goblin Slayer is a dark fantasy story where one man is holding back a unstoppable horde. Its beyond epic. But no, you get hung up on episode one and check out before you get to the cheese memes and general D&D shenanigans.

TLDR don't be a pussy, total Goblin death
