I think Bob is less a coward and more a narcissist and an opportunist. Bob feels perfectly OK playing the call out culture game up until it's someone who can help him fail upward. Faraci was Bob's ticket to a few freelance gigs after he got shitcanned at the Escapist and being on good terms with him likely served as a good networking capital and resume fodder for landing the jobs he has now. If Bob truly felt ashamed for what he did, as a coward would, he'd have forfeited his spot at Geek dot com or screenrant, or his position as Chairman of the Boston Online Film Critics Association. He did none of that. He offered a milquetoast apology on twitter and fucked off for the rest of the day hoping it would die down, and in any meaningful way it did. The only people who remember it are all people he couldn't give two fucks about because they're not "better" or "superior" or whatever vague title he's settled on for his imaginary special class of Dunning-Kruger specimens this week. Bob was perfectly okay with women in his field being endangered by his negligence so long as he didn't have to tip over the apple cart and the apple cart benefited him. He tried to frame it in terms of abstractions about being "complicit in a status quo" but what he actually did was endanger women and expose them to an actual sexual predator. I hope to God Faraci didn't victimize anyone in the time between Bob finding this stuff out and him getting exposed, but that hope is not for Bob or Faraci's sake.
There are careers where this would pretty much ruin Bob or at least set him back several years, but in the world 30-something hack film critics who play act social activism online it's just piss in the ocean. I have no reason to believe Bob feels bad for what he did because he faced no consequences for his behavior nor did he forfeit any professional standing. Nothing. Faraci at least had the decency to fuck off and leave the public's sight.
Fuck Movie Bob
I...I am in awe, sir.
