Blob, and for that matter Hillary, fails to understand the most critical component of getting elected. You have to get people to like you. You have to be pretty retarded to constantly insult and demean people then blame them for turning against you.

Really, when you drive people off to vote for a reality show host/hotel owner and a dead gorilla over your incompetence. You know you fucked yourself and your party over.

The fact they still don't realize it to this day amazes me.

Blob isn't a complete idiot. When something goes against the narrative and there is no way to spin it, he usually ignores it. Actually, it is just him following the narrative once again since mainstream news is for the most part trying its best to quickly move past it.

Not trying to derail things too much, but whats the story behind Ironicus? I missed the boat on that one apparently.
One thing that comes to mind is him sperging out over people that he didn't like being credited in the fifth edition of DnD because they were shitlords. Supposedly, he also had a massive meltdown over Trump winning, but by that point, I had long since stopped following him on Twitter.

I feel it necessary to point out that what Bob is describing is specifically a Kinsleyan gaffe, named after Michael Kinsley, the liberal commentator who coined that definition of "gaffe." Think Bob's aware of that? I have my doubts.

So not a complete idiot, but a complete coward. As if the Devin Faraci incident didn't prove that already.

What is it with people trying to make it out like Trump is only a game show host?

A major criticism the Clinton/Bernie camp used against Trump was his lack of "political experience". They felt like Trump should be automatically disqualified because his career was as a businessman and a celebrity instead of a politician. Which is exactly the kind of elitist thinking which got Trump elected in the first place.

I've even met a few people who with a straight face said no one should be eligible for the Presidency unless they have at least two years of experience as a professional politician. Nevermind this rule would disqualify several of our best Presidents, including George Washington.

They think it's the best way to discredit him and make him seem like a joke. Seemingly oblivious to the fact that making the person that beat your beloved candidate to be a vapid mongoloid only further serves to make your candidate look even more hilariously incompetent.

They've already found ways to justify that. Hillary lost because America is just more racist and ignorant than they ever could have thought.

Yeah, and they're just too ignorant to see the possibilities of growing wheat on the fucking moon. Only a complete idiot wouldn't know how totally great and not stupid this idea is!

Bob's pipe dreams about some sort of Star Trek style future remind me of that Black Pill guy who sincerely believes the best course for humanity will be for men to leave Earth and live on a Dyson Sphere around Alpha Centauri.

Well, to be fair, being a career politician while running for office is definitely a recommendation. It just isn't a requirement. People running for office like Trump are bound to throw their hats in the ring at a very noticeable disadvantage, but Trump's rise came at a time when people simply had enough of both the mainstream media and the establishment (on both sides, not just the left).

Weren't the qualifications for running for president made lenient (pretty much any American citizen 35 or over can run) specifically to avoid (or at least lessen) the dominance of career politicians?

Yes. The Founders overall did not like the idea of a political elite ruling over the country. They believed leaders should be educated and professional but they left it to the individuals seeking office to determine that standard for themselves. The entire concept of the American Experiment was a system where the people could choose their leaders without institutions meant to limit the power to an "approved" class while still keeping in checks to prevent mob rule.

Journalism. I'm old enough to remember that they always referred to Reagan when he was president as "Bedtime for Bonzo actor Ronald Reagan".

Why we haven't put them all against a wall, I do not know.

Well anytime you bring up what the Founders intended shitheads like Bob will just go "WELL THE FOUNDERS OWNED SLAVES AND SHIT IN BUCKETS SO WE SHOULD JUST GET RID OF THE CONSTITUTION EXCEPT FOR THE PARTS I LIKE!"

Which is exactly why we shouldn't get rid of it.

I always find it absolutely adorable that all these goons who built their reputations out of shitting on idiot randos, kids, people with autism, women, etc suddenly want to act like these wonderful moral exemplars. Like I'm supposed to buy that the Retsupurae guys and the various SA goons adjacent to them (like Ironicus) were ever aspiring to be anything better than trolls who felt important because their LPs were posted on a site that costs $10.

I think Bob is less a coward and more a narcissist and an opportunist. Bob feels perfectly OK playing the call out culture game up until it's someone who can help him fail upward. Faraci was Bob's ticket to a few freelance gigs after he got shitcanned at the Escapist and being on good terms with him likely served as a good networking capital and resume fodder for landing the jobs he has now. If Bob truly felt ashamed for what he did, as a coward would, he'd have forfeited his spot at Geek dot com or screenrant, or his position as Chairman of the Boston Online Film Critics Association. He did none of that. He offered a milquetoast apology on twitter and fucked off for the rest of the day hoping it would die down, and in any meaningful way it did. The only people who remember it are all people he couldn't give two fucks about because they're not "better" or "superior" or whatever vague title he's settled on for his imaginary special class of Dunning-Kruger specimens this week. Bob was perfectly okay with women in his field being endangered by his negligence so long as he didn't have to tip over the apple cart and the apple cart benefited him. He tried to frame it in terms of abstractions about being "complicit in a status quo" but what he actually did was endanger women and expose them to an actual sexual predator. I hope to God Faraci didn't victimize anyone in the time between Bob finding this stuff out and him getting exposed, but that hope is not for Bob or Faraci's sake.

There are careers where this would pretty much ruin Bob or at least set him back several years, but in the world 30-something hack film critics who play act social activism online it's just piss in the ocean. I have no reason to believe Bob feels bad for what he did because he faced no consequences for his behavior nor did he forfeit any professional standing. Nothing. Faraci at least had the decency to fuck off and leave the public's sight.

Fuck MovieBob
