I don't really follow resetera too much personally but I would argue that it only requires one competent person to make it work properly (sysadmin) and the rest is just politics.
Blue sky is like an entire protocol and depending on how much funding they have left, ongoing funding and how technically involved it is to run and manage it could literally break or implode. It likely requires quite a few people with specialized knowledge.
Beyond that bluesky is open source, their business plan revolves around people contributing to it and reporting /fixing bugs for free.
That’s going to require people from all walks of life who have these kinds of skills, enjoying their time on the site, supporting it, and wanting it to succeed.
If you start attracting developers and open source wonks , and immediately open up an inquisition as to whether or not they suck the girl dick and donate to BLM on arrival - and burn them at the fucking stake if they don’t, most of these people aren’t going to piss on you if you were on fire.
“We need really smart people! But they’re not allowed to think for themselves!”
It’s also insane to think people are going to pay a monthly subscription if this is the experience.
If you want people to review contribute or work on your code for free, maybe you should be a little less hostile intolerant and toxic towards your user base.
Otherwise, pay up, and good luck paying developers with subscription fees when you alienate and instaban anyone who wants to use your service or tries it .
There really needs to be a moderation list for people who spend their time BPD splitting on punching bags all day as a performative sport.
Make people opt out of it like they have to with adult content, threats, violence, and self harm.
The real problem is that they get attention and validation out of it. So that’s the solution. “Stop giving it oxygen” as they like to say on there.
